Job Description

Location: Central Office - 123 Robert S Kerr Ave, Oklahoma City, OK, 73102

Salary:

Accountant I up to $55,600.00, based on education and experience

Accountant II up to $57,600.00, based on education and experience

Full Time /Part Time: Full Time

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday

Primary Hours: 8am-5pm

 

Position Description:

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving professional level work in the maintenance, analysis, interpretation and management of financial accounting data. This includes the preparation and posting of various journals, ledgers and accounts, analysis and presentation of financial data, and preparation of financial statements and expenditure reports, review and approval of various vouchers and invoices for payment, analyzing budget requirements, preparing payroll data, allocation of funds to various accounts or functions, and other similar activities.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Accountant I:

  • Reviews, analyzes and presents financial data, including revenue projections and expenditure reports, to determine funding requirements.
  • Prepares financial statements, reports of operations, expenditure reports, statistical data, and other information concerning financial requirements; assists in gathering and reviewing data for preparation of budget work programs.
  • Maintains various ledgers, journals, registers and other fiscal records; allocates revenues to appropriate functions; classifies expenditures and posts to various accounts as required.
  • Reviews and processes expense vouchers, invoices, and other fiscal documents for payment; reconcile various financial reports and other data concerning fiscal operations.
  • Determines payroll requirements; maintains payroll data; prepares and processes monthly payrolls.
  • Being present in the office is an essential function of this job
  • Other duties as assigned

Accountant II:

  • Reviews, analyzes and presents financial data, including revenue projections and expenditure reports, to determine funding requirements.
  • Prepares financial statements, reports of operations, expenditure reports, statistical data, and other information concerning financial requirements; assists in gathering and reviewing data for preparation of budget work programs.
  • Works closely with Budget Analysts in preparation for monthly budget meetings with the appropriate program staff.
  • Reviews and works closely with staff within the Finance area and programs to research and correct errors related to program expenditures and funding.
  • Reviews and verifies accuracy and reasonableness of budgetary information submitted by program areas as part of grant applications.
  • Being present in the office is an essential function of this job
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Accountant II: Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.

Accountant II: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field plus one year of experience in performing professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.

Valued Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Accountant I: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories; of financial statements and reports; of accounting ledgers and journals; and of computer technology related to accounting systems.  Ability is required to prepare basic financial statements and reports; to review and analyze financial information; and to maintain routine accounting data in appropriate ledgers and journals.

 

Accountant II:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories; of financial statements and reports; of accounting ledgers and journals; of computer technology related to accounting systems; of payroll systems; and of budget preparation. Ability is required to prepare basic financial statements and reports; to review and analyze financial information; to maintain routine accounting data in appropriate ledgers and journals; and to review revenue and cost data for the preparation of budget work programs.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, employees are required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
