About the role

At Haleon, we design and develop Over-the-Counter (OTC) products and technologies that help consumers lead healthier lives. The Richmond, Virginia site is a global Center of R&D Excellence where teams develop innovative products for iconic brands including Panadol, Advil, Flonase, Theraflu, and Voltaren. Through a consumer-first approach, the team works to shape the future of consumer healthcare through product and technology innovation.  

The R&D OTC Product Development team is responsible for developing innovative drug products across a variety of dosage forms, including tablets, liquids, sprays, creams, and gels. As a student co-op, you will gain hands-on industry experience while working alongside experienced scientists to support the development of products used by millions of consumers around the world.  

Key responsibilities:

• Gain hands-on experience supporting pharmaceutical product development projects. 

• Support the development and testing of oral, topical, and nasal consumer healthcare products. 

• Conduct laboratory experiments and analyze scientific data. 

• Partner with experienced scientists to solve formulation challenges. 

• Support the development of products for iconic brands such as Advil, Flonase, and Panadol. 

• Contribute to innovation projects focused on improving consumer experiences. 
• Share project results and recommendations with the broader team. 

Qualifications and Skills

Essential 

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline graduating between December 2027 and May 2028.  

• Laboratory experience gained through coursework, research, or internships. 

• Experience collecting and analyzing experimental data. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. 

• Available to work full-time for at least 6 months in 2027, with potential to extend to 12 months. 

Preferred 

• Interest in pharmaceutical product development or consumer healthcare innovation. 

• Hands-on laboratory, research, internship, or co-op experience. 

• Strong initiative and willingness to learn. 

• Effective communication and teamwork skills. 

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a laboratory environment. 

Eligibility and Program Requirements: 

• This internship requires working at the designated location. Candidates requiring relocation are responsible for arranging and funding their own housing, transportation, and relocation needs. 

• Candidate must be able to work full-time (40 hours/ week) Monday-Friday ~8am-5pm for 6 months.  

• Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship in the future. Work authorization documentation will be required during the application process. 

• The position is based in Richmond, requiring an in-office presence of 4-5 days per week 

Expected start date: Jan 2027, with a possible 6-month extension   

Compensation for this internship is based on academic standing and degree program: 

• Freshman: $20.00/hour 

• Sophomore: $22.50/hour 

• Junior: $24.50/hour 

• Senior: $26.00/hour 

• Master's Student (Non-Engineering): $28.00/hour 

• Master's Student (Engineering): $30.00/hour
