KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
By department:
- Performing Loans – Evaluate real estate transactions affecting performing CMBS loans, including property leasing, ownership transfers, and hotel franchise changes.
- Loan Workout – Develop and support implementation of resolution strategies for non-performing and defaulted loans, including modifications, foreclosures, note sales, and forbearance.
- Real Estate Asset Management (REO) – Assess, manage, and support the liquidation of commercial real estate properties acquired through the resolution process.
- Surveillance – Monitor risk factors underlying Rialto's CMBS bond investments and support the firm's annual CMBS loan re-underwriting process.
General:
- Underwrite and assess risks for new acquisition loans and existing loans within Rialto's CMBS portfolio.
- Present underwriting analyses and recommendations to senior management.
- Conduct due diligence on borrower requests and assist Asset Managers in developing business plans and monetization strategies.
- Liaise with external parties including brokers, attorneys, and borrowers.
- Perform market research and analyze property financial statements, including rent rolls and operating statements.
- Support reporting and compliance efforts across assigned departments.
- Effective use of AI to support research, synthesize information, analyze data, develop insights, and streamline workflows. Apply critical judgment to validate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, and completeness to finalize deliverables. Use AI responsibly in accordance with company policies, confidentiality requirements, information-security standards, and applicable governance practices. Maintain awareness of evolving AI capabilities and identifies opportunities to appropriately integrate new tools into day-to-day work.
SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required; Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Business, or related fields preferred.
- 0-2 yrs of relevant experience in commercial real estate, underwriting, loan servicing, or a related field preferred, including internships.
- Passionate about pursuing a career in commercial real estate.
- Desire to live in Miami, FL.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- AI & Technology Fluency: Demonstrates proficiency in using AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance productivity, analysis, problem-solving, and work quality, applying critical judgment to validate and finalize outputs.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
- Collaborative team player who works constructively with others to accomplish shared goals and identify solutions, while also able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to accuracy, completeness, and accountability in all work product.
- Reliable and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
- Results-driven, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes in a timely manner.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours as needed.
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop. The Associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet deadlines.
