Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Process Engineer to support our Process Engineering team at our Promontory, Utah Plant.

 

 

Role Description & Responsibilities:
•    Able to demonstrate and instill a strong safety culture in daily operations

•    Developing and continuously improving manufacturing processes

•    Supporting manufacturing operations, to include composites manufacturing, machining, rubber layup and molding, chemical bonding, primers and coatings, and complex assemblies
•    Performing cause and corrective action investigations to permanently eliminate defects using root cause analysis tools
•    Working with concurrent engineering team to create Build-to-Packages (i.e. engineering and planning documents)
•    Authoring, updating and reviewing shop floor planning/work instruction
•    Preparing and presenting technical presentations to leadership and to customers for review and approval
•    Performing Preproduction reviews with operations team 
•    Monitoring production events and utilizing SPC tools to ensure process control
•    Developing and incorporating process improvements
•    Troubleshooting production/tooling/facility issues and implementing improvements and solutions
•    Supporting design, checkout, qualification and implementation of new or modified tooling or equipment

 

This position may be filled at level 1 or level 2.

Basic Qualifications for Level 1:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering or related engineering degree with 0 years of professional experience.  
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
• Self-Starter that takes initiative to complete tasks and assignments with little supervision 
• Good problem-solving skills and strong oral and written communication skills
•  Good organization and multi-tasking skills

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

• Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering or related engineering degree with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience.  
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
• Interpreting blueprints and specifications, GD&T standards 
• Experience writing shop planning (preferred)
• Experience with 3D modeling software
• Experience working with composite materials (preferred) 
• Strong inter-personal and Customer Service Skills
• Statistical Process Controls (SPC)

Preferred Qualifications for both:  

• Proven technical aptitude and ability to problem solve complex technical issues
• Proven ability to multi-task (i.e. manage several projects at one time) and prioritize workload
• Excellent Communication Skills (both written and verbal)

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $73,900.00 - $118,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
