The PCB designs you support will be complex, multilayer printed circuit boards that meet rigorous performance and reliability standards. As Portfolio Operations, you will work directly with the Operations Lead and Head of Operations to scale our footprint from Reston, VA and run business operations for our Intelligence Division. In this role, you will partner with leadership and teams from across the business — from our engineering and manufacturing teams to our IT, Security, and G&A teams to our core internal operations teams — to unpack ambiguous problems and build lasting, scalable solutions. Your work will vary from quick-turn operational fire-fighting, building and redesigning processes, to leading high-impact and specialized projects — all in the mission of growing one of our newest Business Lines at Anduril. The Operations team for Intelligence Systems at Anduril has three primary responsibilities:

1. Standing up the operational processes for our Program Execution team. We work with the Program Execution team to ensure we are enabling world-class program managers to execute against contracts with ease - whether it’s streamlining business processes, documenting workflows, and strengthen our data-capture and analytics capabilities, to delivering actionable insights that inform leadership decisions and optimize business outcomes.
2. We’re expanding our footprint across 3x locations and the Operations team is the glue across cross-functional teams (Program Execution, IT, Security, Facility Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing) at Anduril to execute the expansion flawlessly and with speed. In this role you will be responsible for developing software across projects that may range from full-stack enterprise software to user-facing software on embedded and custom hardware devices on projects that may include the need to design, develop, test, and deploy systems that use commercial and custom networking and cloud technologies with a core focus on security. This role may include architecting, testing, securing, and interfacing with commercial internet transport layer and storage services, cloud services, VPN (commercial, WireGuard, etc.) and similar technologies. You may be building systems that can autodeploy, maintain, repair, and clean-up after themselves. 

Experience building and developing software with a strong understanding of modern internet protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, TLS, etc.) and analyzing network capture and analysis (PCAP and Zeek data) data. • 12+ years of experience in software development, with 7+ in bare metal and driver development
• B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, with a focus on embedded software systems, sensors, or other small form-factor systems
• Experience with Xilinx platforms
• Experience working in constrained development environments, including air-gapped systems
• Experience building low-level embedded software solutions including hardware integration and bare-metal code development
• Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases
• Ability to understand and implement complex certification requirements
• Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 15+ years of experience building top-to-bottom, full-stack (bare metal on up)
• Experience with C# application development or frontend React based UI framework
• Experience implementing network and communication protocols, cryptographic systems, display protocols, or similar
• Experience working with complex SoCs
• Experience with ISRs, MMUs, timers
• Experience developing operating systems or portions thereof
• Experience with Xilinix platforms

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Staff FPGA Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Reston, Virginia. You will be responsible for rapidly developing, testing, and implementing FPGA designs on Xilinx SoC/FPGA platforms. This requires strong skills in digital circuit design, VHDL/Verilog coding, and simulation. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Integrate third-party vendors IP, as necessary.
• Participate in entire design life cycle: from requirements and concept, through design and hand on testing/board bring up.
• Implement a variety of signal types such as high speed comms (ethernet, serial), signal processing (analog, digital).
• Ensure designs meet all relevant safety and performance standards, with traceability back to top-level system requirements, as necessary.
• Investigate and resolve bugs found during hand on testing (at HDL level and system level).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering or related field
• 8+ years of professional experience in FPGA design and development. Experience with Xilinx SoC is highly preferred
• Familiarity with design software like Vivado (preferred), ModelSim, or Quartus
• Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience in SoC hardware bring-up, preferably on ARM-based systems
• Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Working knowledge of designing for safety-critical functions.
• FPGA interfaces and high speed busses.
• Experience with systems on a Chip (SoC).
• Low-level firmware (C/C++) development for bring-up and test.
