Two Six Technologies is seeking a Senior Network Engineer who will be responsible for designing technical solutions for complex problems. The candidate will provide technical oversight of a project solution, including requirement interpretation and allocation of requirements to technical components. He or she will define processes to support the implementation of a prototype network requirements and ensure that technical solutions leverage industry best practices, designing for security and excellence while minimizing the total cost of ownership. You will need to be able to define internal and external customer infrastructure architecture needs and then design solutions to meet those needs to include: capacity planning, systems configuration and tuning, monitoring backups, and installations of hardware and software.

The work will be hybrid, based out of our Arlington, Va office.What You Will Do

• Mentorship: Ability to direct and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on SOPs and best practices in a fast-paced environment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to convert requirements from external performers into concrete technical solutions for complex problems
• Exercise & Event Infrastructure: Direct design, deployment, and real time troubleshooting of high performance network infrastructure supporting multi-performer quarterly integrated exercises and hackathons.
  Participates in the development and implementation of the network infrastructure in field offices, including physical and logical design of network and telecom infrastructure, analyzing existing network platforms and systems, and recommending solutions.
• Provides technical input in the design, installation, maintenance, and support of network infrastructure
• Support tight-looped development and integration production cycles

What You Will Need To Be Successful

• 5+ years of experience configuring, designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN devices
• Thorough understanding of static and dynamic routing concepts such as BGP, OSPF"
• 5+ years of experience configuring/maintaining Cisco switches 
• 5+ years of experience in Networking, Security, Design implementation, and Operational support
• Experience designing and implementing Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Security Software
• Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, routing and VLANs.
• Experience configuring/maintaining other (non-Cisco) hardware firewall devices such as VyOS
• Experience with network monitoring technologies
• Ability to take ambiguous requirements or problems and convert them into technical solutions
• Ability to partner with systems administrators, storage administrators, and application developers to solve complex problems
• Complex problem management research and issue resolution
• Ability to mentor junior network engineers
• Reviewing and identifying security vulnerabilities and applying remediation
• Understanding of modern software languages and command line interface

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Security Architecture: Architect custom security solutions that deconflict stringent government compliance requirements with critical operational needs. Move beyond standard "box checking" to design risk-optimized, tailored controls.
• Intent-Based Engineering: Engineer alternative technical solutions when literal remediation causes operational failure. Leverage deep system knowledge and industry best practices to meet the core security intent of a framework while maintaining system functionality.
• Design & Implementation: Lead the hands-on technical development, configuration, and deployment of secure IT infrastructure and custom security tools, ensuring all architectures are defensible during an audit.
• Threat Defense & Mitigation Strategy: Develop high-level strategies, playbooks, and architectures for threat detection and incident response. Oversee the vulnerability mitigation lifecycle, guiding the team's efforts so that day-to-day monitoring is handled by staff while the Lead focuses on proactive, structural defense improvements.
• Collaborative Security: Partner with development and IT teams to seamlessly integrate security and compliance into CI/CD pipelines and software development lifecycles while supporting innovation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or comparable experience.
• Leadership: Experience managing small interactive teams.  Candidates will be required to task junior reports, and should have strong mentorship skills.
• Strategic Risk & Compliance Mastery: Deep understanding of NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53b, CMMC, and DISA STIGs. Proven ability to interpret the underlying risk objective of a control to engineer solutions that satisfy auditors without breaking operations.
• Advanced Systems Expertise: Deep technical mastery of operating systems (primarily RHEL/Linux). Must possess the system-level knowledge (e.g., Linux internals, process management) required to design custom, defensible security configurations backed by vendor documentation when standard STIG guidance is insufficient.
• Operational Deconfliction: A highly analytical mindset with a track record of identifying conflicts between security mandates and operational uptime, and successfully architecting "semi-custom" solutions that keep risk to an acceptable minimum.
• Network Security Architecture: Strong architectural understanding of secure network paradigms (e.g., Zero Trust, macro/micro-segmentation) and fundamentals. Ability to guide the implementation of complex boundary defenses and validate network security controls.

As a Two Six Technologies Senior Software Engineer for web hosted services, you will work with the product team to develop and implement new features with developers and operators to help shape program functionality and usability. You will be a core developer inclusive of APIs, external integrations, and associated data management. You will help scale-up our data pipeline services that extract, transform, and load data into a web service to contextualize networks. You will play a key role in our successful research and delivering solutions for our transition partners. 

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Development, versioning, and maintenance of our application and management of the code base
• Shape the operationalization and transition to government and industry users
• Develop new features per emerging user needs
• Collaborate in the creation and integration of new data sources, user workflows, and long-term solutions for scaling and other software concerns

Minimum Qualifications
