We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Exterior Lighting Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced exterior lighting systems for next-generation aircraft. This role will focus on delivering reliable, compliant, and high-performance lighting solutions across a range of platforms, including conventional and electric aircraft.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with aircraft lighting systems and a strong understanding of environmental, electrical, and regulatory considerations.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop aircraft exterior lighting systems, including:
- Navigation (position) lights
- Anti-collision lighting
- Landing and taxi lights
- Recognition and logo lighting
- Perform and document engineering analyses, including:
- Electrical load and power consumption assessments
- Thermal performance and heat dissipation analysis
- Environmental durability (vibration, temperature extremes, moisture exposure)
- Support system integration activities and ensure compatibility with aircraft electrical and structural systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and certification engineering
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and environmental standards
- Support testing and qualification activities, including environmental and EMI/EMC validation
- Contribute to design reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Direct experience designing or supporting aircraft exterior lighting systems
- Familiarity with DO-160 environmental testing and qualification standards
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC principles and their impact on aircraft systems
- Experience performing electrical and thermal analyses
- Strong understanding of aircraft electrical systems and integration considerations
- Experience in eVTOL, UAV, or electric aircraft development programs
- Familiarity with LED-based lighting technologies and control systems
- Experience with simulation or analysis tools for thermal and electrical performance
- Knowledge of certification requirements for exterior lighting systems
- Experience working with suppliers and managing component development
Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience

Key Responsibilities
Develop aircraft-level verification test cases derived from system requirements and applicable regulatory standards
Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, verification methods, test cases, and results
Author, review, and maintain key verification artifacts, including:
- Verification Plans
- Test Procedures and Automated Test Scripts
- Verification Reports and Compliance Documentation
- Support the integration and execution of verification activities across multiple environments, including:
- Ground testing (bench testing, iron bird, system integration labs)
- Flight test verification programs
- Collaborate with systems engineering, safety, and certification teams to ensure alignment with development and compliance objectives
- Contribute to continuous improvement of verification processes, tools, and methodologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience with FAA certification processes (Part 23, Part 27, or similar)
- Familiarity with ARP4754A and ARP4761 development and safety assessment processes
- Exposure to DO-160 environmental testing standards
- Experience supporting flight test programs and verification activities
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements validation, and verification methodologies
- Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar)
- Experience working in integrated test environments (iron bird, SIL/HIL systems)
- Knowledge of requirements management and traceability tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion)
- Familiarity with data analysis and test automation frameworks
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with strong V&V verification experience to support the development, certification, and verification of aircraft systems for electric aviation platforms. This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, safety, certification, and V&V verification, with hands-on involvement across requirements definition, modeling, testing, and compliance demonstration at the Component, System, and Aircraft levels.
The ideal candidate is deeply comfortable working in a certification-driven environment, understands the criticality of clear, traceable requirements, and can collaborate effectively with certification engineers, DERs, design engineers, test teams, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Requirements

- Develop, manage, and validate aircraft-, system-, and component-level requirements
- Generate and maintain requirements aligned with customer, regulatory, and certification needs
- Ensure bidirectional traceability between requirements, verification methods, and compliance evidence
- Manage requirements within an ALM environment (e.g., Polarion)
- Provide critical design feedback related to safety, requirements completeness, and verification readiness
Safety & Certification

- Apply SAE ARP4754A and ARP4761 processes throughout the system lifecycle
- Support and contribute to Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and FMEA
- Participate in certification planning and compliance demonstrations
- Interface with certification engineers and DERs to support FAA approval activities
- Support certification programs under Part 23 / 27 / 33, including electric propulsion systems
Verification & Validation

- Author, execute, and maintain verification plans, procedures, and test reports
- Define and execute requirements-based test strategies at the appropriate level (Component, System, Aircraft)
- Coordinate and execute lab, integration, and system-level tests
- Verify systems such as:
- Vibrations, airframe, fuselage
- Interiors
- Doors & Transparencies
- Cabin Equipment
- Environmental Control Systems
- Interior Lighting
- Smoke Detection Systems
- etc
- Ensure verification activities align with overall certification schedules
- Track and report verification status keeping traceability to support program management decisions
Modeling, Analysis & Test Support

- Perform system behavior modeling to support validation activities
- Support test automation and data analysis where applicable
- Ensure verification deliverables meet certification expectations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years (up to 15+ preferred) experience on Part 23 or 27 aircraft or rotorcraft programs
- Strong working knowledge of:
- SAE ARP4754A
- SAE ARP4761
- FAA Order 8110.4C
- RTCA DO-160G, DO-331, DO-178C
- Experience with ARP4754A-based verification
- Experience with requirements-based testing and traceability audits
- Proficiency with ALM and verification tools (Polarion, JIRA, Confluence)
- Experience with solid modeling tools (Onshape, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent)
- Comfortable working in a cross-functional, certification-focused environment
- Ability to work fully onsite in Burlington, VT.
Preferred / Above-and-Beyond Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Part 23 Amendment 64
- ASTM F3338
- Part 33 certification or electric propulsion systems
- Familiarity with:
- Polarion ALM
- CATIA
- ANSYS
- Mil-HDBK-217 / Mil-HDBK-21
- Reliability tools (PTC Windchill, Isograph, Relyence)
- Test and automation experience using:
- LabVIEW
- Python or other test automation frameworks
- Background in aerospace verification & validation
- Prior experience in a certifying environment (Part 23, 25, 27, 29, or DO-based programs EASA or FAA)
Tools & Work Environment
- Google G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar, etc.)
- Slack and collaborative engineering workflows
- ALM-driven, traceability-heavy certification environment
Salary: $120,000 - $130,000
