This is a hybrid position based in Toronto. 

What You'll Do:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks.
• Automate functional, API, and integration test cases by developing reusable and maintainable automated scripts.
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to automated and load testing, propose solutions, and enhance existing scripts where needed.
• Review test results, determine root causes of failures, assess severity and scope, and guide prioritization for resolution.
• Collaborate with developers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring quality at every stage of delivery.
• Provide regular updates on defects, regression test status, and automation progress through Jira and other reporting tools.
• Assist in planning, developing, and delivering training on test automation frameworks and tools.
• Maintain clear documentation of automation processes, templates, and best practices while driving process improvements.
• Partner closely with engineering teams, product owners, and QA peers in Agile environments to define acceptance criteria and testing approaches.
• Stay updated with technology trends and continuously improve test automation practices.
• Support functional and regression testing efforts as needed to ensure end-to-end quality.

What You Have:

• 3–6 years of experience in an SDET or QA Automation engineering role with significant hands-on API automation experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java for test automation.
• Proven experience with automated testing tools and practices (e.g., Selenium or similar) along with Web Service / API testing.
• Hands-on experience testing REST APIs using tools or frameworks such as RestAssured, Postman (automation), or similar.
• Solid understanding of HTTP protocols, API contracts, and service-oriented architectures (SOA).
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and exposure to Agile, Waterfall, and Scrum.
• Experience with performance/load testing tools and approaches, including APIs.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems (Jira preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of SOA frameworks, processes, strategies, and approaches.
• Practical experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools, with the ability to integrate API and UI automation into delivery pipelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

What We Offer:  

The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.

Role and Responsibilities 

• Own the Integration Framework: Take full responsibility for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the integration testing framework. Ensure it serves as the primary tool for validating new features and system-level interactions.
• Bridge Development and Testing: Act as the primary liaison between the development team and manual testers. Translate manual test cases into automated scripts and provide technical guidance on testing strategy and best practices.
• Provide Architectural Guidance: Collaborate closely with the development team to ensure new features are designed with strong testability as a core requirement. Evaluate and gate features based on the architecture’s ability to support comprehensive integration testing.
• Maintain Feature Awareness: Develop and sustain deep knowledge of upcoming features and ongoing development initiatives, enabling proactive design and preparation of the required testing infrastructure.
• Lead Test Implementation and Management: Manage the integration test backlog and actively contribute hands-on by writing, executing, and debugging test cases. Oversee the rollout and adoption of the testing framework across the team, including manual testers.

Qualifications and Experience 

Required qualifications 

• Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in automated testing of React applications, including component, integration, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Apply advanced TypeScript expertise and modern testing methodologies such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, and TDD.
• Exhibit strong capability in testing applications deployed within AWS cloud environments.
• Ensure rigorous validation of GraphQL APIs and schema contracts.
• Deliver high‑quality testing for microservices built with ExpressJS, AWS Lambda, and DynamoDB.
• Leverage hands-on experience with state management libraries such as Redux and Zustand.
• Bring proven experience collaborating within distributed, cross‑functional Agile teams and using JIRA.
• Implement robust quality gates within CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, etc.).
• Utilize monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, Splunk) to detect, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
• Show strong verbal and written communication skills in client-facing environments.

Compensation (Ontario)

The salary range provided reflects a good faith estimate based on factors such as experience, technical expertise, location, and relevant certifications. Final compensation will be determined according to the specific circumstances of each candidate. 

Estimated salary range: $90,000 to $125,000 per year.

What We Need

NetBrain is looking for an experienced Senior QA Engineer to work on a variety of automation-related projects for our unparalleled network automation platform, powered by agentic-AI. We need a detail-oriented and logical programmer who loves to be part of a team and is comfortable collaborating across multiple areas of the organization. This role works on a hybrid schedule at our Toronto, ON office and passion for software development and automation is a must-have!

What You'll Do

• Provide guidance and support to junior QA engineers; share best practices, testing techniques, and knowledge with the QA team.
• Develop detailed test plans and strategies based on project requirements and specifications; design comprehensive test cases and scenarios to cover functional and non-functional requirements; ensure complete coverage of all the use cases, test cases, and workflows.
• Execute manual and automated tests, ensuring thorough coverage of the application; perform different types of testing such as functional, regression, performance, usability, and security testing.
• Identify areas for improvement in QA processes and methodologies; stay updated with industry trends and incorporate new tools and practices into the QA process.
• Identify, document, and track software defects using appropriate tools; collaborate with development teams to reproduce, diagnose, and resolve issues.
• Collect and analyze quality metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of testing efforts; generate test reports and provide quality assessments to stakeholders; work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on quality goals; participate in design and code reviews to provide feedback from a QA perspective.
• Evaluate and recommend QA tools and technologies; Ensure the QA environment and tools are properly set up and maintained; identify and assess risks associated with software releases and deployments; develop mitigation strategies to address potential quality issues; ensure that software meets regulatory standards and industry best practices; implement and enforce QA standards and guidelines within the team.
• Understand customer requirements and ensure that deliverables meet their expectations; act as a liaison between customers and the development team to address quality concerns.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency; Integrate automated tests into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

What You Bring

• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in software testing or SDET roles.
• High proficiency in computer technology and advanced programming ability with Python, Java, Go or other general-purpose programming languages.
• Practical experience testing cloud infrastructure(AWS preferred).
• Solid API/Security testing and automation skills.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.) and release engineering (pipelines, artifacts, approvals, progressive delivery).
• Strong understanding of networking (TLS, DNS, load balancing).
• Experience with virtualization technologies, specifically VMware (vSphere/ESXi) and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience working in high-scale SaaS environments or large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Keen attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Manual Dexterity: Repetitive motion of wrists, hands and fingers for using a computer.
• Stationary Tasks: Sitting for extended periods, remaining in a stationary position.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between CAD 82,000 - CAD 100,000 plus potential bonus. The actual salary may vary based on a range of factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
