About the Role:
As a Data Engineer on our BI team, you’ll be a key player in Motive’s growth, delivering the data infrastructure for the AI era. You’ll act as the essential link between complex data and key business domains, delivering the high-quality datasets and semantic models that drive global strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to implement cutting-edge tooling, leverage AI to enhance your workflow, and master a modern data stack in a fast-evolving environment.
This is the perfect role for a "jack of all trades" data practitioner. You’ll design data models, build robust pipelines, manage DevOps and automated systems, and implement AI-driven data tooling. You’ll even get your hands dirty building dashboards and performing deep-dive analysis. If you love working full-stack and owning the entire data lifecycle, you’ll love this role.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate & Strategize: Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and design end-to-end architecture that solves complex business problems.
- Build & Maintain Data Models: Design, develop, and own robust, efficient, and scalable data models in Snowflake and Iceberg using dbt and advanced SQL.
- Orchestrate & Automate: Build and manage reliable data pipelines and CI/CD workflows using tools like Airflow, Python, and Terraform to ensure data is fresh, trustworthy, and infrastructure is version-controlled.
- Champion Data Quality: Implement rigorous testing, documentation, and data governance practices to maintain a single source of truth.
- Enable Analytics & Workflows: Act as the Product Owner and Tech Lead for your data domains, taking responsibility for the end-to-end data product delivery– from raw ingestion to data models enabling analytics and data apps in tools like Tableau and Retool.
- Innovate with AI: Help us build our next-generation data infrastructure by integrating AI capabilities (like Snowflake Cortex AI) to democratize analytics and empower the business.
- Architect Observability: Implement monitoring and alerting frameworks (e.g., dbt packages or Monte Carlo monitors) to proactively catch "silent" data failures before stakeholders do.
What We're Looking For:
- 6+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a similar role.
- Deep expertise in SQL and developing complex data models for analytical purposes (e.g., dimensional modeling).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Data Warehousing: High proficiency in Snowflake (preferred) and experience with Open Table Formats like Iceberg.
- Data Transformation: dbt
- Orchestration & ETL: Airflow, Fivetran, Airbyte
- Cloud Platform: AWS
- Programming/Ingestion: Python
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
- AI-Augmented Development: Proficiency using AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, or Claude) to accelerate development and automate routine tasks.
- A strong analytical mindset with a proven ability to solve ambiguous business problems with data.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working cross-functionally.
- Self-starter with the ability to self-project manage work
- A user focus with the ability to understand how a data consumer will use the data products you build
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience building semantic models for natural language querying
- Direct experience with advanced Snowflake features (e.g., Snowpark, Cortex AI).
- Experience building visualizations and dashboards in tools like Tableau, Retool, or Thoughtspot.

About the Role
The Business Applications Engineer is on the Business Systems team and partners with others on the Business Systems, Data & Analytics, IT, and other Business teams (Operations, Patient Access, Billing, Clinical/Pharmacy, etc.) around the organization to develop, test, and deploy automated event/timed based processes that support our core practice management system (hosted in Azure) and our other core business systems. This role is vital to the success of enhancing current business processes to be more effective through technology.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Business Systems to lead active development of our workflow management tech processes in Azure Cloud that will drive workflows in our core practice management system, Unlimited Financials.
- Facilitate & lead unit testing of developed logic within the Business Systems unit to prepare for UAT.
- Partner with Business Systems leaders & analysts on intake requests, requirement gathering, scoping, and iterative UAT sessions to finalize the new build or enhancement.
- Develop a standardized troubleshooting, bug fixes, & optimization process internally for the existing workflow management technical processes.
- Develop processes for workflow & security monitoring to mitigate exposure & downtimes.
- Develop application downtime processes & recovery plans.
- Become the technical subject matter expert on all existing/future workflow tech process in our Azure environment for while mentoring other junior members on the team to develop their skills in the area.
- Document & enforce a strict SDLC process for our workflow management process and any other processes that fall under the role, including development, testing & deployments.
- Become the Azure Cloud Applications subject matter expert of the company beyond our workflow management process to promote other areas of optimization leveraging Azure Cloud Applications & Services.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, or a related technical field or equivalent years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience designing, developing, or supporting applications and automated workflows within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Azure-based automation and integration solutions, including services such as Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and related Azure application services.
- Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases, including writing queries and supporting data integrations.
- Experience working with data and integration formats such as JSON and XML and integrating systems using APIs or web services.
- Working knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as Python, C#, JavaScript, F#, or Java.
- Experience participating in software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes including requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Unlimited Financials (UF) is a plus
- Microsoft Azure Developer Associate certification (preferred or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe).
- Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Job Summary
- Develops, creates, maintains, and writes/codes new (or modifies existing) computer applications and software solutions supporting enterprise and government systems. Designs and implements scalable web-based applications using C#/.NET technologies, including ASP.NET Core and RESTful APIs. Develops and integrates APIs to support system interoperability across multiple platforms and services. Supports full software development lifecycle activities including requirements gathering, system design, development, testing, and deployment in Agile environments. Contributes to application modernization efforts and cloud-based solutions, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. Supports development of user-facing applications and backend services, as well as documentation and system deliverables.
Key Skills & Experience
- Five (5+) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Strong experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and Web API development.
- Experience developing web-based applications using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as Angular or React.
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and working with microservices architectures.
- Experience working within Agile development environments and participating in full SDLC activities.
- Experience with database design and development using SQL Server or similar relational databases.
- Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.

Education, Certifications, & Credentials
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT),
