The Opportunity

Factorial is looking for an All-Solid-State Battery Anode Wet & SE Slurry Coating Process Engineer responsible for the wet slurry coating process and equipment development for anode and sulfide-based solid electrolyte (SE) applications. We leverage cutting-edge wet electrode manufacturing to revolutionize all-solid-state battery performance, cost, and scalability. This role requires experience in close cooperation with internal teams and external partners. This candidate will be involved from the beginning of process optimization for R&D projects, pilot line scale-up, and through to low/high-volume production. The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate efficient communication between various departments/vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

All-Solid-State Battery Anode Wet & SE Slurry Coating Process Development

• Lead R&D efforts to design, optimize, and scale wet slurry coating processes for ASSB anode and sulfide SE applications.
• Develop novel slurry formulations and coating strategies to enhance electrode-electrolyte interfacial compatibility, ionic transport efficiency, and cycling stability.
• Establish critical process parameters (e.g., slurry dispersion, viscosity control, coating speed, drying profiles) to meet all-solid-state battery performance specifications.
• Address key wet coating challenges specific to ASSB: solvent selection, slurry sedimentation, SE-solvent compatibility, and interfacial side reaction control.

Quality & Yield Improvement

• Identify root causes of wet coating defects (e.g., pinholes, thickness non-uniformity, cracks, lithium dendrite penetration) and implement corrective actions.
• Utilize statistical analysis (SPC, DOE) to drive yield improvements and reduce process variability.
• Collaborate with PD/QA to define testing protocols and quality standards for wet-processed all-solid-state electrodes.

Production Efficiency & Scalability

• Optimize manufacturing workflows to increase throughput and reduce unit production costs.
• Design experiments to validate process scalability from lab to pilot line to mass production.
• Troubleshoot equipment/process issues to minimize downtime.

Next-Generation Equipment Development

• Partner with equipment vendors to conceptualize, prototype, and validate next-gen wet coating electrode machinery.
• Define technical specifications for new equipment (e.g., vacuum-integrated drying systems, solvent recovery units).
• Drive innovation in automation, in-line monitoring, and Industry 4.0 integration.

Must Have Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in wet electrode coating manufacturing for lithium-ion batteries, sulfide electrolyte system experience highly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of wet process steps: slurry preparation (dispersion, deaeration), precision coating (doctor blade/slot-die), vacuum drying, calendaring, and lamination.
• Proficiency in material characterization (SEM, XRD, adhesion testing) and data analysis tools (JMP, Minitab).

Process & Quality Tools:

• Mastery of DOE, SPC, FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience scaling processes from R&D to high-volume production.

Equipment & Innovation:

• Proven ability to collaborate with equipment suppliers on custom solutions.
• Familiarity with ASSB-specific process challenges (moisture control, interfacial stability, mechanical pressure sensitivity).

Education & Collaboration:

• Master's in chemical/Materials/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong cross-functional skills to work with R&D, production, and supply chain teams.

Nice to Have Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with sulfide solid electrolyte systems or halide electrolyte systems.
• In-depth understanding of binder systems (PVDF, CMC/SBR) and conductive additives behavior in wet coating processes.

Job's mission

As a Senior Engineer II, Process Engineering (PECVD) at ASM Korea, you will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and supporting advanced PECVD processes for leading semiconductor customers.
This role is based in Korea, with primary responsibility for supporting Japan-based customers and projects, requiring strong execution capability, deep process understanding, and excellent communication skills in a global environment. You will work closely with customers, field, and global R&D teams to enable high‑volume manufacturing and next‑generation device applications.

What you will be working on

• Develop, optimize, and support PECVD processes for dielectric and functional thin films (including SiO, SiC) for logic, memory, analog, power, and MEMS applications.
• Design, execute, and analyze complex experiments using DOE and RSM, and interpret advanced process and materials characterization results.
• Drive process transfer, customer demonstrations, and high‑volume manufacturing (HVM) support.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues through hands‑on engagement and structured problem‑solving methodologies.

As a Principal / Senior Process Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing ASM’s semiconductor process technologies. You’ll leverage your expertise in thin-film deposition and materials characterization to develop innovative solutions for next-generation devices. Your work will directly influence product performance and enable breakthroughs in logic, memory, and power applications.

What you will be working on

• Research, develop, and optimize semiconductor processes focused on Advanced Packaging including depositions (ALD, PECVD, PVD, ECP) and surface preparation.
• Design and conduct complex experiments using DOE and RSM methodologies; interpret and analyze experimental data.
• Develop new films or processes for emerging packaging applications like W2W/D2W Hybrid bonding and perform advanced materials characterization.

Job's mission

As a Senior Engineer II, Product Quality at ASM, you will be part of the Global Quality team, working closely with Business Unit Engineers, Product Support, Field Teams, Supplier Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure product quality and reliability across the full product lifecycle. This role contributes directly to customer success by proactively identifying, analyzing, and resolving non‑conformance issues in manufacturing, field, and customer environments.

This position is based in Korea and requires a self‑motivated engineer who independently identifies issues, actively drives actions end‑to‑end, and effectively works with an overseas manager and global teams. Fluency in both Korean and English is essential, as the role involves frequent communication with international stakeholders and customers while driving systemic quality improvements for ASM semiconductor equipment

• Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Global Quality for assigned product lines
• Act as SPOC for key customer field teams on quality‑related issues

• Experience designing and characterizing deposition processes using first principles and experimental design techniques.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior / Staff Power Cell Development Engineer who will be responsible for Factorial’s next-generation cell product development and cell technology. The successful candidate will assume a cell engineering and development role and join Factorial’s team in South Korea. This role will execute new platform development for silicon-based drone cells and LMB power cells in accordance with the technical roadmap, including material, formula, and process evaluations to enable product realisation. The role involves designing cell products according to customer requirements and validating performance, including electrochemical and safety performance, while driving continuous optimization. The engineer will lead NPI activities and be responsible for preparing and releasing all related documentation, including BOMs, DFMEAs, and a sample-building index. The role will participate in technical discussions with customers related to new product development programs and support battery material development, including cathodes (high-nickel NMC), anodes (graphite with silicon-based materials and lithium metal), separators, binders, and current collector foils, while also supporting other internal departments on cell product–related technical issues.

Duties and Responsibilities for the power cell development engineer (cover Si drone and LMB power cell):

• Base on the technical roadmap to conduct the new platform development including the material, formula, process evaluation to make it come true.
• Base on the customer requirements to design the cell products. And validate the performance including electrochemical/safety performance, then conduct the continuous optimization.
• Lead the new produce NPI, Responsible for all the related documents preparation and release, including the BOM, DFMEA and sample building index,
• Follow up the sample building and solve the issue, lead the FA
• Join the discussion with customers about the new product development-related topic.
• Support battery materials developments, for example: cathode (high Ni NMC), Anode (graphite+SiC, Li metal), Separator, new binder, collector foil etc.
• Support the other departments for the cell product related issues.

Requirements:

• At least mater degree
• At least 3years of power cell or drone cell product development experience. Know the lithium-ion battery and lithium metal battery very well. Can lead the product development independantly.
• Good FA/problem solving/data analysis capability
• Good communication with English.
• Rich experience for customer communication.
