The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting and finance team.  The Senior Accountant will be a key contributor to the monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports. This role will also be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and the subsequent booking of all payroll-related journal entries. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of US GAAP or IFRS, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing complex accounting tasks. In this role, you will gain broad exposure to the Company’s full-cycle accounting processes and provide support for the Sr. Corporate Accounting Manager. What You'll Do:

• Execute monthly and quarterly accounting close tasks including preparing/reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Perform monthly and ad-hoc analyses of financial trends.
• Process payroll on a timely and accurate basis for all employees and book the related journal entries.
• Resolve any payroll-related issues and inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist in the preparation of various supporting schedules and analyses for internal financial and external financial statements, tax, and audits.
• Act as a mentor for junior accounting staff, providing guidance and training on accounting principles and best practices.
• Assist with maintaining and scaling our accounting and reporting process.
• Support optimization and automation efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.
• Collaborate and serve as a liaison to other departments on accounting matters, including but not limited to engineering, sales, IT, HR, marketing, etc.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and assignments as needed.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 5 years experience in audit with a mid to large size public accounting firm or 3-5 years experience with a small to mid size technology/software company.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter with a proven track record of grit and determination to drive process improvements.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to work collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel (vlookup and pivot tables).
• Ability to work on a cross functional basis, build and nurture relationships across the organization.

A Plus if you have:

• Working knowledge of NetSuite.
• Experience in coordinating with payroll service providers globally and payroll accounting.
• CPA or on track to get your CPAo ACCA.

Location -  Sofia, Bulgaria - Hybrid in office 1-2 days a week

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead HR operations and strategic initiatives for our Bulgarian office. This role is a mix of operational HR (payroll, contracts, compliance) and strategic HR (culture development, performance management, management partnership). Initially, the focus will be on running our relocation project, with the long-term scope expanding to full country HR responsibilities.

This is a hands-on position for someone who can work independently, take ownership, and drive HR initiatives forward, while collaborating closely with our global team and HQ in the US.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all HR operations in Bulgaria, including payroll, contracts, HR administration, and compliance.
• Serve as the primary HR partner for management, supporting performance management, talent development, and employee relations.
• Drive HR strategy and initiatives, including culture-building activities and engagement programs.
• Manage relocation projects, ensuring smooth onboarding and integration of international hires.
• Collaborate with global HR teams and HQ in the US to ensure alignment with company policies and practices.
• Provide guidance on local labor laws and HR best practices.
• Analyze HR metrics and provide insights to support decision-making.
  
  

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a HR Manager or senior HR generalist in a global or multi-national company.
• Experience handling employee populations of 200+.
• Strong understanding of Bulgarian labor laws and HR compliance.
• Hands-on experience with payroll, contracts, and HR administration.
• Track record of strategic HR initiatives, such as performance management, culture development, and management partnering.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive initiatives proactively.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with HQ in the US or other global offices.
