About the Role
At SimplifyNext, quality is not a phase – it is a discipline woven into every stage of how we deliver. As a Senior Quality Analyst, you will play a leadership role in shaping how quality is defined, engineered, and scaled across our engagements. You will work at the intersection of modern application development, AI-driven solutions, and enterprise automation, partnering with architects, engineers, and client stakeholders to ensure quality is built into the foundation – not tested at the end. This role goes beyond traditional QA. You will lead quality transformation for our clients, drive automation-first testing strategies, and explore how AI can redefine how quality is assured in complex, real-world systems.
Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Strategy
- Define and lead end-to-end quality strategies for complex programmes, ensuring alignment with business outcomes, regulatory requirements, and modern architecture patterns.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients and senior stakeholders, shaping how quality is approached across teams, platforms, and releases.
- Establish quality governance frameworks across multi-workstream programmes, including standards, metrics, and reporting structures.
Shift-Left & Engineering Excellence
- Champion a shift-left and quality engineering mindset, embedding testing into design, development, and deployment practices.
- Partner with architects and developers to design for testability, ensuring systems are observable, resilient, and scalable.
- Advocate and guide teams on practices such as TDD, BDD, contract testing, and CI/CD-driven quality gates.
Automation & AI-Driven Testing
- Lead the design and implementation of automation-first testing strategies across UI, API, data, and integration layers.
- Drive adoption of modern test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, and Selenium, and ensure they are scalable, maintainable, and integrated into delivery pipelines.
- Make informed decisions on tooling strategy (e.g. what to use for modern web apps vs legacy or cross-browser needs).
- Explore and implement AI-assisted testing approaches – including test generation, intelligent test selection, anomaly detection, and self-healing automation.
- Define approaches for testing AI/ML systems and agentic workflows, including handling non-deterministic behaviour, model drift, and data quality risks.
End-to-End Quality Assurance
- Own quality across the full technology stack – from frontend experiences to backend services, integrations, and cloud infrastructure.
- Lead exploratory testing and risk-based validation, especially in complex, automation-heavy, or AI-driven solutions.
- Ensure robustness across performance, security, reliability, and user experience dimensions.
Metrics, Insights & Continuous Improvement
- Define and track engineering and quality metrics (e.g. lead time, deployment frequency, change fail rate, MTTR).
- Use data to identify systemic issues, improve delivery predictability, and elevate team performance.
- Embed continuous feedback loops from production usage into test strategy and product improvements.
Coaching & Practice Building
- Mentor and guide junior QAs and engineers, raising the overall quality maturity of teams.
- Coach client teams to adopt shared ownership of quality, ensuring sustainability beyond project delivery.
- Contribute to building SimplifyNext’s Quality Engineering practice, including reusable assets, accelerators, and thought leadership.
What We Are Looking For
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in quality engineering within agile, product-centric environments, working closely with developers, BAs, and architects.
- Proven ability to define and implement automation strategies across complex systems (web, mobile, API, integrations).
- Hands-on experience with modern test frameworks and CI/CD integration.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience testing AI/ML or automation solutions, with awareness of challenges such as non-determinism, data dependency, and model evaluation.
- Familiarity with performance, security, and resilience testing approaches.
- Experience working in large-scale or public sector programmes is a plus.
Professional & Leadership Skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality across teams and influence without authority.
- Strong consulting mindset – able to engage clients, shape thinking, and communicate risks in business terms.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels, switching seamlessly as needed.

Woven between all the stages of the delivery process is the work of a Quality Analyst: the technologist who focuses on the complexity and risk inherent in building solutions. By collaborating with each team member—Developer, Business Analyst, Designer, etc.—they ensure quality is thoughtfully examined in both processes and technology. QAs are more than testers; they're team motivators and strive to inspire all teammates to weave quality into their mindsets and code.
Job responsibilities
- Aim to shift quality to the left in alignment with senior client stakeholders.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to understand the product, create a quality strategy and ensure that the teams are empowered to implement it.
- Highlight risks to software delivery and assist in managing them alongside the leadership team.
- Regularly carry out exploratory testing to gain insights and uncover potential risks.
- Drive improvements for clean code, tests, testability and advice on test tools/frameworks.
- Define, discuss and implement a program approach to testing across multiple products/services and domains, commonly referred to as “UAT”, “E2E”, etc.
- Influence a consistent approach in automation of tests across teams in a program, e.g. nomenclature, domain boundaries, contracts between services, distinct layers, common tooling and dashboard representations in the right situation.
- You will be nimble and alter your team's approach based on an industry's standards and regulations.
- Coach team members across roles to help deliver better quality software and help them adopt a testing mindset.
- Advocate QA expertise to the tech community inside Thoughtworks and throughout the broader industry, speaking at conferences and acting as a mentor for junior-level QAs.
Job qualifications
Technical Skills
- You have worked as a Quality Analyst as part of a wider development team, pairing with Devs, Business Analysts, Infrastructure Engineers, and Designers to embed quality and testing mindsets within different roles.
- You have hands-on automation experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using modern tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
- You are comfortable with agile, code management, deployment strategies, migration strategies and release management.
- You have extensive experience with practices such as TDD, BDD, CI/CD and models such as Test Pyramid and Swiss cheese.
- Can drive changes to both on premise and cloud architectures for enhancing quality.
- Strategize different types of functional and cross-functional testing including performance and security testing across various architectures and domain models.
- You can leverage metrics in order to make improvement to lead time, deployment frequency, mean time to recovery and change fail rate.
- You can design quality strategies and can produce one for large programs.
Professional Skills
- You enjoy influencing teammates and senior leaders and advocating for quality as a shared team responsibility.
- Knowledge of user experience and user research including prototyping, personas and AB testing, which can be translated into a test strategy.
- You are passionate about ensuring the correct product is being built, not just that it is being built correctly.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of an Agile delivery team, you will be responsible for the design and execution of test automation and quality engineering activities across Web, API, Mobile, Cloud, and Data platforms. You will define and implement test strategies with the team in applying automation, exploratory, performance, and data pipeline testing practices effectively.
You will:
- Be responsible for building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks for Web, API, Mobile, Cloud, and Data systems.
- Define and execute test strategies, balancing automation, exploratory, performance, and data testing.
- Implement automation scripts using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, and Katalon.
- Design and execute tests for data platforms, including ETL pipelines, data quality, schema validation, and transformation logic.
- Apply structured test approaches for data engineering workflows (batch vs. streaming, ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption).
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable execution.
- Perform exploratory testing to uncover gaps not easily detected by automation.
- Support performance, scalability, and reliability testing using tools like JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
- Apply AI-powered QA tools and prompt engineering techniques to accelerate test creation and analysis.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to ensure requirements are testable and automation-ready.
WHO YOU ARE
- Strong experience in test automation, framework design, and quality engineering.
- Solid background in functional and automation testing across Web, API, Mobile, Cloud, and Data platforms.
- Strong in hands-on coding in Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages for automation.
- Hands-on experience in mobile automation testing with Appium and/or Katalon.
- Exposure to performance and load testing.
- Experience with AI/ML-driven test tools and basic prompt engineering.
- Strong background in exploratory testing and modern test design techniques.
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) and cloud-native testing (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills.
BONUS SKILLS
- Knowledge of data platform & data engineering pipeline testing (ETL validation, streaming, data quality).
- Experience with big data test strategies and analytics validation.
