About you
We are looking for someone who is a whizz with Python, has experience with microservices, and is happy to get stuck into a gritty, fast-paced environment to work within our awesome Python team, championing and leading the build of secure, robust, and high-performance systems.
The Opportunity
Our Python team builds highly available, low-latency microservices from scratch using the latest bleeding-edge technologies.
You will own and develop multiple services across our revenue domain billing, tax calculation, customer commitment management, and AI-powered revenue operations agents. - Design developer/agent-friendly APIs.

Who we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with an object-oriented programming language
- Experience with web application development using Python (FastAPI, aiohttp, or similar).
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
- Experience working with asynchronous programming
- Comfort working with PostgreSQL and relational databases at scale, including schema migrations, raw SQL queries and query optimization.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar).
- Experience in a highly available, uptime-critical production environment.
- Deep knowledge of microservice architecture patterns and anti-patterns
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Consul, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
- Strong troubleshooting skills — you can dig through logs, query databases, trace distributed systems, and read unfamiliar code to get to the bottom of an issue.
- Comfortable owning services in production, including on-call responsibilities and incident resolution.
- Comfortable using AI coding agents as part of your investigation workflow, while knowing when to rely on your own judgement.

The Opportunity
Our AI teams build highly available, low-latency microservices using modern, cloud-native technologies. This role sits within our broader AI organization and focuses on developing the platforms, services, and tooling that support AI-powered products — from inference and embeddings to APIs, data flows, and observability.

Our backend team is building a highly-available and distributed data pipeline that powers Telnyx products like Voice, Messaging and Wireless. We leverage the Telnyx private backbone network to build a cloud-agnostic data platform that processes thousands of messages per second.
With our lean team, we're currently running and managing more than 30 dockerized microservices deployed in multiple regions in the U.S. and Europe. We are looking for a senior Java backend engineer with deep knowledge of Java Core.
In this role you will
- Work on 30+ microservices implemented in Java 11 and Scala that process, aggregate and expose all data our telecommunication and messaging engines generate
- Improve performance of our pipeline — we currently process 10k messages/sec and are growing
- Architect our services and pipelines so they work with minimum latency in all our locations around the world (U.S., E.U., Australia, South America)
- Implement fraud detection processes with machine learning (Kafka and Kafka Streams)
- Deploy services to multi-cloud Kubernetes environments to achieve 99.999% uptime
- Push code to production multiple times a day
What we're looking for
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of experience with Java and its ecosystem of tooling
- Experience with at least one of these databases: Cassandra, ClickHouse, or OpenSearch
- Experience with AI tooling, or a strong willingness to learn

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior IT Engineer to design, implement, and operate our global office and data center network. In this role, you will own the connectivity and performance of Nu’s physical locations, ensuring that our offices and data centers are reliable, secure, and ready to support our next waves of growth.
You will work on routing, switching, wireless, security, and observability across our global stack, leading key initiatives such as new office rollouts, critical connectivity improvements, and the evolution towards Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will be part of the Global Offices Network team, working closely with peers in Connectivity, Security, and Workplace to provide a seamless experience for Nubankers worldwide.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Network & Connectivity
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure for offices and data centers, including routing, switching, and wireless.
- Maintain and evolve high‑availability data center fabrics (e.g., spine‑and‑leaf topologies with Juniper/Cisco hardware).
- Ensure robust connectivity between offices and data centers, including WAN and SD‑WAN solutions, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
Wireless, Load Balancing & Security
- Configure and support wireless networks (controllers and access points), with strong experience in vendors such as Aruba and Cisco.
- Operate and tune load balancers (e.g., F5, including DNS/ZoneRunner concepts) to guarantee optimal application delivery and resilience.
- Collaborate with security teams on Next‑Generation Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet) and cloud security brokers (e.g., Zscaler) in a “security‑first” network design.
Automation, IaC & Observability
- Drive the transition away from manual configuration towards Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as GitHub, Terraform, and/or Ansible.
- Implement and maintain network performance monitoring and observability using tools like PRTG, Prometheus, Grafana, SolarWinds or similar, ensuring proactive detection and resolution of incidents.
- Manage PKI-related activities, including SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle and ensuring secure encrypted communications across services and endpoints.
Delivery & Collaboration
- Lead or co‑lead new office implementations and major network changes, coordinating with Workplace, Connectivity, and other partner teams.
- Act as a technical reference for incident response and problem management in critical networking issues, helping restore services quickly and preventing recurrences.
- Document architectures, runbooks, and standards, helping scale knowledge across the team.
- Mentor more junior engineers and collaborate in a multi‑level team (IC6, IC5, IC3, IC4) to continuously improve how we operate our global infrastructure.
We Are Looking for a Person Who Has
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise networking or infrastructure engineering, working with critical environments (e.g., large offices, data centers, or mission‑critical operations).
- Strong hands‑on experience with routing and switching, ideally using vendors such as Cisco and/or Juniper.
- Experience implementing and supporting wireless networks, especially with Aruba and/or Cisco wireless solutions.
