Telnyx Edge Compute is our serverless platform — it lets developers deploy Go, Python, and Java functions directly onto Telnyx's global network, running application logic milliseconds away from end users. It's how our customers handle webhooks, voice and messaging events, and AI inference at the edge, without touching a server.
We're looking for a Go engineer to join the Edge Compute squad and help us build the platform behind it. You'll be working on the runtime, the deployment pipeline, the CLI, and the control plane that makes "write a function, deploy it globally" feel effortless. The systems you build will be used by every developer on Telnyx — so the bar for reliability, performance, and developer experience is high.
What you'll do
- Design and build the Go services that power our serverless runtime, function deployment pipeline, and global control plane.
- Make the platform feel great to use — clean APIs, a sharp CLI, predictable behaviour, useful error messages. Developer experience is a feature, not an afterthought.
- Diagnose and fix latency, throughput, and reliability issues across a system that spans data centres around the world.
- Build automation and tooling that lets us operate the platform safely at scale.
- Participate in on-call for the systems you build.
What we're looking for
- 2-5 years of professional backend software development experience.
- Proficiency in Go, or strong experience in a comparable backend language (Rust, Java, C++) with a real interest in writing Go day-to-day.
- Solid grounding in distributed systems — you've debugged a service-to-service problem in production and know what kinds of things go wrong at the edges.
- Experience running services in a high-availability environment, including being on-call.
- Comfort designing APIs that other engineers (internal or external) will actually use.
- Working knowledge of relational databases — when to reach for one, and when not to.
Bonus points for
- Experience building developer tools, platforms, runtimes, or anything where your users are other engineers.
- Familiarity with serverless or edge-compute platforms (Cloudflare Workers, Fastly Compute, Lambda, Fly.io, Deno Deploy, etc.).
- Experience with our stack: Docker, Kubernetes, Consul, Prometheus, RabbitMQ, Jenkins.
- Experience operating systems across multiple regions or data centres.
- Open source contributions, particularly in the Go ecosystem.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend/Infrastructure) to join the VTEX Network team. This team manages the core connective tissue of our cloud platform, being responsible for CDN, Cloud Connectivity, Ingress, DNS, and Service Mesh.
In this role, you will tackle one of our most critical engineering challenges: the evolution of our Service Mesh. Currently, VTEX relies on a highly performant, custom-built router (developed in .NET) that acts as our service mesh, processing millions of requests per second and serving as the backbone for all VTEX applications. Your mission is to help evolve this mission-critical infrastructure, leading the transition toward a market-standard stack (like Istio), with zero downtime and absolute reliability.
This is a role at the deep intersection of software engineering and scalable infrastructure, requiring extreme care for performance, resilience, and system architecture.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Cloud Network team at VTEX is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our platform, which supports thousands of stores worldwide.
As part of a recent transformation, the team is focusing on building a new generation of infrastructure systems, including the evolution of Service Mesh, networking, and compute layers.
Our mission is to create a platform where infrastructure complexity is abstracted, enabling engineers to move faster while maintaining high standards of reliability and performance.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Drive Architectural Evolution: Lead the technical strategy and execution to migrate our custom routing layer to a modern, market-standard Service Mesh (e.g., Istio).
- Build for Extreme Scale: Design, develop, and maintain network infrastructure components that sustain millions of requests per second with incredibly low latency.
- Operate Mission-Critical Systems: Ensure the continuous availability and resilience of VTEX's core network services (Ingress, DNS, Service Mesh, CDN) that impact thousands of stores globally.
- Master Service Design: Apply deep service design principles to create scalable, robust, and easily maintainable backend services and infrastructure tooling.
WHO YOU ARE
- Experienced Backend/Platform Engineer: You have a strong background in Software Engineering (Backend) with deep, hands-on experience managing and evolving Kubernetes infrastructure.
- High-Scale Veteran: You have 3+ years of experience operating, troubleshooting, and designing systems for mission-critical environments with massive throughput (millions of requests per second).
- System Design Expert: You possess profound knowledge of service design, distributed systems, networking concepts (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, Proxies), and microservices communication.
- Technically Versatile: You are comfortable working with complex legacy systems while building the future. Experience with .NET is a significant advantage, as it will help you understand and refactor our current custom router. Familiarity with Service Mesh solutions (Istio, Envoy) is highly desired.
- Effective Communicator: You have a proven ability to negotiate technical constraints and collaborate seamlessly with different engineering teams to align goals and execute platform-wide changes.
- Language: Fluent English to collaborate in our global environment.

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior IT Engineer to design, implement, and operate our global office and data center network. In this role, you will own the connectivity and performance of Nu’s physical locations, ensuring that our offices and data centers are reliable, secure, and ready to support our next waves of growth.
You will work on routing, switching, wireless, security, and observability across our global stack, leading key initiatives such as new office rollouts, critical connectivity improvements, and the evolution towards Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You will be part of the Global Offices Network team, working closely with peers in Connectivity, Security, and Workplace to provide a seamless experience for Nubankers worldwide.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Network & Connectivity
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure for offices and data centers, including routing, switching, and wireless.
- Maintain and evolve high‑availability data center fabrics (e.g., spine‑and‑leaf topologies with Juniper/Cisco hardware).
- Ensure robust connectivity between offices and data centers, including WAN and SD‑WAN solutions, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
Wireless, Load Balancing & Security
- Configure and support wireless networks (controllers and access points), with strong experience in vendors such as Aruba and Cisco.
- Operate and tune load balancers (e.g., F5, including DNS/ZoneRunner concepts) to guarantee optimal application delivery and resilience.
- Collaborate with security teams on Next‑Generation Firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet) and cloud security brokers (e.g., Zscaler) in a “security‑first” network design.
Automation, IaC & Observability
- Drive the transition away from manual configuration towards Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as GitHub, Terraform, and/or Ansible.
- Implement and maintain network performance monitoring and observability using tools like PRTG, Prometheus, Grafana, SolarWinds or similar, ensuring proactive detection and resolution of incidents.
- Manage PKI-related activities, including SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle and ensuring secure encrypted communications across services and endpoints.
Delivery & Collaboration
- Lead or co‑lead new office implementations and major network changes, coordinating with Workplace, Connectivity, and other partner teams.
- Act as a technical reference for incident response and problem management in critical networking issues, helping restore services quickly and preventing recurrences.
- Document architectures, runbooks, and standards, helping scale knowledge across the team.
- Mentor more junior engineers and collaborate in a multi‑level team (IC6, IC5, IC3, IC4) to continuously improve how we operate our global infrastructure.
We Are Looking for a Person Who Has
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise networking or infrastructure engineering, working with critical environments (e.g., large offices, data centers, or mission‑critical operations).
- Strong hands‑on experience with routing and switching, ideally using vendors such as Cisco and/or Juniper.
- Experience implementing and supporting wireless networks, especially with Aruba and/or Cisco wireless solutions.
- Solid experience operating network monitoring and performance tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Grafana or similar) in production environments.
- Experience with load balancers (e.g., F5) and DNS‑related components (e.g., ZoneRunner or equivalent).
- Exposure to network security components, such as enterprise firewalls and/or security brokers, and comfort collaborating with security teams in a “security‑first” posture.
- Experience with or strong interest in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation for network configuration and lifecycle management (e.g., GitHub, Terraform, Ansible).
- Ability to lead initiatives and coordinate teams during new office rollouts, complex changes, and incident response.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work in cross‑functional, multicultural teams.
- Intermediate English (spoken and written), with the ability to participate in meetings and collaborate with global teams.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Zero Trust network concepts and security‑driven networking.
- Experience with cloud networking (e.g., connectivity to public clouds) and hybrid environments.
- Experience with security mindset and encryption topics (e.g., secure protocols, network segmentation), even if not your primary specialization.
- Prior experience in distributed or global organizations.

This opportunity is based in Brazil, with a strong preference for candidates who can work from our offices in:
