Responsibilities

• Lead operations (scheduling, workflow, quality) while actively contributing to the shop’s success.
• Personally drive sales and revenue through lead follow-up, customer conversions, upsells, and local partnerships.
• Deliver measurable results tied to monthly sales targets, ARO, gross profit, and retention metrics.
• Be hands-on with customers — walk the floor, support service writing, and build lasting relationships.
• Uphold a customer-centric approach by ensuring prompt & courteous service.
• Coach and mentor team members in real time by working alongside them, not apart from them
• Address customer concerns & complaints on Yelp & Google Reviews through CDC (Complaints, Damages & Comebacks).
• Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, & other markets.
• Maintain accurate records of operations, financial transactions, & employee activities.
• Prepare regular reports for management regarding shop performance & key metrics.
• Ensure compliance with all legal & regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a General Manager or similar role in an auto mechanic shop.
• Efficient in Digital Visual Inspections & Procedures
• Experience with Autoflow or similar platform, preferred but not required
• Strong leadership & managerial skills with the ability to motivate a team.
• Sound knowledge of automotive systems, repair techniques, and industry standards.
• Solid understanding of financial management & budgeting.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, & manage time effectively.
• Degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology or similar technical college

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds
• Ability to work with tools lifted above their head
• Work in tight spaces as dictated by the vehicle's needed repair
• Have the needed dexterity in order to efficiently use hand-tools

POSITION OVERVIEW

Oportun is currently seeking qualified candidates with customer service, cashier, sales, or hospitality experience to work Full-Time. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome members with a warm greeting and provide quality member service.
• Seamlessly process all transactions, while following company policies & procedures and protecting our members’ information.
• Work as a team or independently, including time alone in the store without direct supervision or with coworkers, while exceeding daily goals in our lending and servicing activities.
• Enjoy informing and educating potential members about Oportun’s services by engaging in outreach efforts more than 50% of the time at Oportun locations, partner locations and/or community events. Activities include:
• • Building relationships with local businesses (e.g., mechanic shops, dental offices, furniture stores) and speaking with local business owners and their employees about how Oportun’s services can help their customers.
  • Conducting outreach efforts at local flea markets, community events, and at our Lending As A Service (LAAS) partner locations to increase awareness capture leads, and assist with starting applications;
  • Actively engaging with people at and around Oportun’s retail locations, encouraging store visits, and assisting with applications.
  • Supporting community outreach and marketing events, by passing out flyers and educating the local community about Oportun and its products and services; and
  • Using iPads or assisting potential members with scanning QR codes during outreach efforts to start new applications.
• Light housekeeping to keep the work area and store location inviting and presentable to all who visit, including daily collection of trash, sweeping, mopping, and window cleaning as needed.
• Use a computer intermittently (approx. 3-6 hours per day) for administrative tasks and for servicing members.
• Stand while assisting members; sitting is allowed during non-member-facing tasks.
• Occasionally unpack and store office or cleaning supplies.
• Must have the ability to travel between designated work locations (including outreach activities) within a reasonable commuting distance as part of standard job duties. Travel will be limited to sites considered part of an ordinary commute.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Must be outgoing, sales-focused, and enjoy speaking with people.
• Must love to help members, including prospective members through outreach and educational activities.
• Must be available to work weekends and be flexible with a rotating work schedule of hours based on store needs. Schedules are set every two weeks.
• Must have regular, reliable, and predictable attendance to support store operations.
• Must be willing and able to work outdoors year-round to identify new sales opportunities and promote company products and services through designated outreach activities.
• Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds, as needed.
• Basic computer skills and ability to operate office equipment such as, phones, scanners, and iPads.
• Ability to organize and file paper documents.

The base hourly rate for this full-time position is $18.00 - $19.00.

Our hourly rates are determined by role, location and experience. The hourly range displayed on each job posting reflects a minimum and maximum for new hire rates for this position, specific to the location of this job posting.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

With minimal supervision; the Rental Technician will perform duties as assigned by management in the repair, maintenance and/or rebuilding of equipment in the service shop or field, in a safe, efficient and capable manner in the least amount of labor hours necessary, and without rework. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform all requirements found in any Caterpillar Lubrication & Maintenance Guide.
• Perform new and used equipment start-up for delivery to end-user.
• Perform Caterpillar updates as directed by Caterpillar.
• Remove, install, recondition and repair engines and make necessary adjustments on the engine as well as to the components in the various systems
• Perform diagnostic tests on engines.
• Remove, install, and make repairs and necessary adjustments on the various power train components.
• Remove, install and make necessary adjustments to Hydraulic Systems.
• Troubleshoot all Caterpillar and allied product systems.
• Disassemble, clean and reassemble all Caterpillar and allied products machines.
• Use all test and diagnostic equipment available to make adjustments to machines and systems.
• Measure and identify parts and components for reusability or replacement and ordering new parts as required.
• Perform minor welding and fabrication.
• This position requires work to be completed within 110% of any Flat Rate times that are established as targets by HMC.
• Rework must not exceed 0.5% of labor hours.
• Performs other duties as directed by foreman or service manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of experience with hands on mechanical repair on diesel engine or earthmoving repair.
• Successful completion of apprenticeship program, preferred
• Graduation from an accredited technical school with emphasis on diesel engine or earthmoving repair, preferred/
• Must have valid CA Driver’s License with a clean record.
• Shop Requirements: Valid California Class “C” driver’s license.
• Field Requirements: Valid California Class “B” driver’s license, if assigned vehicle is required.
• Furnish all hand tools required to repair, test and diagnose hydraulic, air, power train, electrical and electronic systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• NOTE: Some high dollar value tooling is supplied by Hawthorne.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.

Hands/arms operating equipment, hand and power tools.

Lifting: Up to 50 lbs. daily, frequent exertion. Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools.

Handling: Works with hands.

Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.

Standing: Remains in standing position if required for certain repair or maintenance work.

Climbing: In and out of equipment.

Vision: Reads work tickets, parts and service books and operate heavy equipment.

Talking: Communications via telecommunications and in person.

Sitting: Sits in equipment and in vehicles.

Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.

Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication by radio, phone and in person.     

Laying: Lies in prone position under vehicles and equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL:          

Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.

Temperatures/Weather:  Works in a warehouse and outside with variations of temperature and weather.

Exposure:  Foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.
