We are looking for an experienced AI Engineer who will design and deliver Artificial Intelligence solutions that improve our customers' experience and enable informed, data-driven decision making. We seek someone excited about working with cutting-edge technologies to build pragmatic, performant AI solutions. You'll collaborate with a team of outstanding builders around the world, characterized by a love for innovative technology, a desire to solve problems, and a continuous pursuit of building simple, elegant products that delight customers and simplify all levels of data engagement. You will work primarily with Data Scientists, other AI Engineers, and Machine Learning Operations Engineers, as well as teams across Collibra.

This is a hybrid role based in our Raleigh office. Our hybrid model means you’ll work from the office at least two days each week. This setup helps us stay connected, work more closely together, and keep making progress as a team.

AI Engineers at Collibra are responsible for

• Monitoring of the larger AI/ML landscape, including emerging techniques and current state-of-the-art approaches 
• Transforming prototypes into pragmatic, production-ready solutions which solve impactful business problems
• Creating, operationalizing, and supporting AI/ML models and visualizations to power actionable value and insights
• Evaluating algorithmic results for quality, adaptability, and efficiency
• Contributing to evolving our platforms for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities in support of Collibra’s data products
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers on AI best practices

You have

• 5+ years of experience delivering production-grade AI/ML projects related to business functions, incorporating advanced techniques (e.g., LLM-based applications, RAG systems, NLP, neural networks, recommendation engines)
• Experience with SQL and relational databases, query authoring as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (e.g., time series, graph, vector)
• Built and deployed production code in Python with associated AI modules (LangChain, LangGraph, Pandas, Numpy, Tensorflow, etc.)
• Experience with model evaluation, testing frameworks, and validation methodologies

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent related working experience is required

Reporting to Collibra’s Senior Manager of AI Engineering, measures of success are

• Within your first month, you will familiarize yourself with the existing data platform and data products by diving into the architecture, existing products, and the Collibra platform ecosystem
• Within your third month, you will start to deliver new AI/ML features into our SaaS platform
• Within your sixth month, you will operationalize AI products into production environments and contribute to our AI roadmap

Compensation for this role

The standard base salary range for this position is 152,000 - 190,000 per year. This position is not eligible for additional commission-based compensation. Salary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location.

As an Applied AI Engineer on the Corporate IT Engineering team, you’ll identify where AI can create real leverage across our internal systems and operations, and build it. You’ll work inside a team that owns a broad and complex infrastructure footprint, embedding AI into the platforms and workflows that keep Bandwidth running. This is an infrastructure and systems role with a deep AI focus.

What You'll Do:

• Own and extend existing AI platforms and tooling, improving reliability, expanding capabilities, and integrating them more deeply with internal systems.
• Architect and build internal API layers and shared services that allow AI workflows and internal applications to publish, version, and retrieve outputs across the engineering ecosystem.
• Identify and build AI-powered tooling that creates leverage across the Corporate IT Engineering stack, including infrastructure, identity, monitoring, and automation platforms.
• Develop and iterate on proof-of-concepts that demonstrate how AI can augment or automate internal workflows; from anomaly detection in infrastructure logs to AI-assisted documentation and IT troubleshooting.

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Ansible, following infrastructure-as-code best practices.
• Establish AI development patterns and best practices across the Corporate IT Engineering organization, helping teams adopt AI capabilities effectively and responsibly.
• Stay current with the evolving AI and MLOps landscape and bring relevant advancements back to the team.

What You Need:

• AI & Application Development
• Hands-on experience owning or extending LLM-powered platforms, including RAG pipeline development, prompt engineering, and integrating LLM APIs into production internal systems.
• Expert-level knowledge of AI infrastructure, including model serving, inference optimization, GPU/CPU resource management, and MLOps pipelines.
• Experience designing and building internal API layers or shared platform services that multiple teams and systems publish to and consume from.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript for building integrations, scripts, and lightweight internal services.
• Experience working with REST APIs and building integrations across a diverse internal tooling ecosystem.

• Strong AWS experience: required proficiency in core services (EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC) and experience architecting and operating production workloads on AWS.
• Deep Docker and Kubernetes expertise: required hands-on experience containerizing applications, writing Dockerfiles, managing multi-container deployments, and orchestrating workloads with Kubernetes (EKS or self-managed).
• Deep Terraform and Ansible expertise: required experience writing and maintaining Terraform modules for cloud infrastructure, and using Ansible for configuration management and automation.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Applied Machine Learning Developer to guide the technical direction and architecture of our Predictive Maintenance and Asset Intelligence initiatives.

You’ll combine deep ML expertise with strong software development and leadership skills—mentoring developers, scaling systems, and driving the roadmap for AI-enabled maintenance intelligence across thousands of industrial sites.

This role sits at the intersection of ML architecture, IoT data systems, and product impact, shaping the foundation for MaintainX’s predictive and generative AI strategy.

• Lead technical direction for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and LLM-powered intelligence across MaintainX products.

As a Big Data Solutions Architect (Resident Solutions Architect) in our Professional Services team you will work with clients on short to medium term customer engagements on their big data challenges using the Databricks platform. You will provide data engineering, data science, and cloud technology projects which require integrating with client systems, training, and other technical tasks to help customers to get most value out of their data. RSAs are billable and know how to complete projects according to specification with excellent customer service. You will report to the regional Manager/Lead.

• Define and champion best practices for model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring; establish technical standards that elevate quality and consistency across the team.
• Translate ambiguous, strategic business challenges into well-scoped data science problems; lead discovery processes with senior stakeholders to align on objectives, constraints, and success criteria.
• Deliver executive-level data-driven narratives that communicate the strategic value of data science, influencing senior leadership and cross-functional decision-makers to drive resource allocation and organizational alignment.
• Serve as a technical lead and primary mentor for intermediate and junior data scientists, conducting code reviews, establishing growth plans, and fostering a high-performance team culture.
• Proactively identify emerging opportunities to apply new techniques, including cutting-edge research, novel architectures, and industry-leading tools to advance Bandwidth's competitive position.
• Partner with data engineering, software development, and platform teams to design scalable data and AI infrastructure that enables reliable, high-throughput machine learning workflows at enterprise scale.
• Oversee model performance, data quality, and system health in production environments; lead root-cause analysis and implement robust solutions for drift detection, retraining, and performance degradation.
• Lead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for AI projects, enabling rapid iteration, reproducibility, and safe deployment practices.
• Represent the Data Science function in cross-departmental working groups, product planning sessions, and strategic initiatives requiring deep analytical expertise.

What You Need:

• Education:  
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science; graduate degree in Data Science or other quantitative field is preferred.
• Experience: 
  • 7+ years of directly related data science experience, with a demonstrated record of independently delivering impactful, production-grade ML/AI solutions; or a graduate degree plus 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in a technical lead or informal management capacity is strongly preferred.
• Skills:
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python, with deep knowledge of the data science and ML ecosystem including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and MLflow or equivalent MLOps tooling.
  • Advanced mastery of statistical inference, experimental design, and machine learning, including hypothesis testing, causal inference, regression, classification, clustering, deep learning architectures, and model evaluation at scale.
  • Expert knowledge of data structures, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake); strong familiarity with REST APIs and cloud-based ML platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently define, scope, and deliver solutions to ambiguous, high-stakes business problems through data mining, analytics, statistical modeling, and predictive systems.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence; proven ability to convey complex technical concepts and strategic insights to product leadership and non-technical audiences in a compelling, business-focused manner.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with a track record of mentoring teams, driving cross-functional alignment, and managing multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to influence without formal authority, building consensus and driving adoption of ML/AI solutions across diverse stakeholders.

Bonus Points:

• Familiarity with big data technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Hadoop, Spark, or distributed computing frameworks for processing and analyzing large-scale datasets efficiently.
• Experience with MLOps tooling and production ML system design, including feature stores, model registries, and monitoring frameworks.
• Experience in telecommunications, SaaS, or communications technology industries.
