About the Role
As a Software Engineer you will play a vital role in building and maintaining applications and back-end services of the Rating and Reviews (R&R) product within the Social Commerce group. We are looking for someone with prior Engineering experience, ideally within the E-commerce and SaaS space.
The Software Engineer’s primary focus will be on web services, mostly built with Java. Scalability and quality of performance will be of utmost importance, as we continue to scale and integrate our services into the broader Emplifi Suite.
This role will require a deep technical understanding of our system and products to effectively execute, while providing insightful product and user focused decision making when needed. They will work closely with Design, Product, and DevOps to develop and maintain our embedded content galleries, as well as our management dashboard used by hundreds of major brands across the world.
What You’ll Do Here
- Work closely with designers, PMs, and engineers to tackle challenging problems in the Collect, manage, and display high-quality product reviews, Q&As, checkout comments, and seller ratings that drive conversions and engagement at the point of purchase from start to finish
- Collaborate and extend projects across a variety of R&R services, including scalable back-end APIs, embedded widgets, integrations with e-commerce platforms, email and sms providers, etc.
- Consistently challenge and influence the direction of our product offerings with confidence through both technical and user-focused thinking
- Architect and develop high-performance, highly available, and secure software solutions that scale to millions of users, leveraging your full-stack expertise to drive continuous innovation and efficiency
- Communicate effectively with product management, design teams, architects, and other development and technical teams to ensure our customers receive maximum value from our product offerings
- Apply your infrastructure and scripting knowledge to support team-wide DevOps initiatives and engineer enablement work
- Take ownership of system reliability by diagnosing and resolving bugs and issues that emerge from real-world usage and customer interactions, ensuring a seamless user experience
- Use your experience to expand engineering best practices, documentation, and other key processes for our growing team

We’re now looking for a Customer Success Engineer (CSE) to help engineering teams successfully adopt Kotlin on the backend in real-world production environments.
Currently, this role is focused on adoption – helping Java teams introduce Kotlin into existing applications. You’ll work directly with organizations to guide migration, integration, troubleshooting, and scaling, ensuring they move from initial experiments to successful production use.
In addition, you’ll proactively communicate with prospective users to help them understand the Kotlin adoption process, as well as design and implement the migration path.
Responsibilities
- Track and maintain visibility into organizations and their stage of Kotlin adoption (e.g., not started, evaluating, experimenting, production)
- Proactively engage with organizations across different phases of their Kotlin adoption journey
- Develop and recommend high-level adoption strategies tailored to each organization’s context
- Identify and document blockers that hinder progress and propose ways to address them
- Establish and manage feedback loops with development teams to ensure continuous alignment and improvement

Technical expertise
- Extensive hands-on experience with Kotlin, Java, and the JVM ecosystem
- Proven experience migrating Java backend codebases to Kotlin
- Experience with the Spring (Boot) ecosystem or similar frameworks (e.g., Quarkus, Micronaut, Ktor)
- Solid understanding of build tools and project structuring, including Maven and Gradle
Communication and customer engagement

Key Responsibilities:
- Software Development: Implement scalable, stable, and secure coding patterns. Develop high-scale microservices with near real-time performance and contribute to Cato’s web application through backend and full-stack development.
- Code Reviews: Ensure quality, test coverage, and security in code reviews.

About App Security Group:
This group provides security & visibility for SaaS applications being used by organizations (i.e. used by Cato’s customers).
We are doing it by integrating with these 3rd party vendors ( like Salesforce, Slack, ServiceNow, Dropbox etc.) using their public APIs, fetching data on various activities (sign-ins, sharing, exporting etc.) and bringing it into Cato platform, enforcing relevant security policy in supported apps.
We’re expanding our capabilities by designing & building an infrastructure that will allow us to accommodate a large scale of applications and support additional use cases brought up by Cato’s product team.
