Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Atlas Labs team supporting our Geospatial sector. This position reports to the Director of Product and AI. Atlas Labs oversees technology development for Woolpert’s Geospatial sector, including various types of AI model development, R&D, software infrastructure, and user-facing products.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.  Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

What You Will Do:

• Contribute to the planning, research, design, architecture, development, and testing of Atlas Labs software features. You’ll write code daily, definitely in Python and possibly in C++ or JavaScript.
• Work as part of a cross-functional Scrum team with domain experts in AI/ML, Geospatial Data, Software Engineering, and GIS.
• Collaborate with internal and external users to ensure the correctness, quality, and availability of Atlas Labs software products.

What You Will Bring:

Overview

The responsibilities of our Platform team include building and maintaining all backend services, including, but not limited to, payments, analytics, subscriptions, new products, text to speech, and external APIs.

This is a key role and ideal for someone who thinks strategically, enjoys fast-paced environments, is passionate about making product decisions, and has experience building great user experiences that delight users.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including public TTS API, internal APIs like Payment, Subscription, Auth and Consumption Tracking, ensuring they meet business and scalability requirements
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability
• Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• Proven experience in backend development: TS/Node (required)
• Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers
• Efficiency in ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact
• Preferred: Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
• Preferred: Proficiency in deploying high availability applications on Kubernetes

The United States Based Salary range for this role is: 140,000-200,000 USD/Year + Bonus + Stock depending on experience

The Data Services Operations team plays a crucial role in delivering data and analysis that supports development of autonomous systems and features essential for a great ADAS driving experience. Within Data Services Operations, the GIS Services organization at Latitude is the operational backbone and spatial intelligence engine driving our system and its complex relationship with the world and our customers. We go beyond traditional High Definition (HD) map production to build, scale, and operationalize a GIS ecosystem capable of supporting a highly accurate and up-to-date ADAS driving network.

Within this organization, the GIS Platform Team is tasked with building, scaling, and maintaining the robust technological infrastructure that empowers all Latitude stakeholders to easily access, visualize, and exploit spatial data. We are looking for a highly skilled GIS Solutions Analyst (Front-End Support) to lead web application development, design intuitive cartographic templates, and build a seamless "one-stop shop" portal critical to reliable spatial data integration, analysis, and self-service capabilities across the Latitude AI enterprise.

What you’ll do: 

• Infrastructure & Database Management: Develop, optimize, and maintain enterprise spatial databases (specifically Postgres/PostGIS), including schema design, indexing strategies, and performance tuning for high-volume mapping data.
• Performant Geoprocessing: Design, build, and deploy custom Python geoprocessing tools and services that support high delivery velocity, complex vehicle mission routing, and self-service web applications across Latitude.
• Esri Enterprise Administration: Extend the functionality of Esri Enterprise GIS systems by implementing custom data feeds, managing server environments, and ensuring high availability.
• System Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot storage or network bottlenecks, and proactively implement infrastructure optimizations to support the at-scale global operations.
• Integration & Automation: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and source control practices for geospatial tools, services, and infrastructure deployments.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Front-End Solutions Analyst, Operations stakeholders, Spatial Data & Analytics Teams, and Map Engineering to align backend geospatial architecture with business, operational, and delivery needs.
• Best Practices: Establish, document, and promote industry best practices for geospatial data engineering, system design, and backend deployment.

What you'll need to succeed:

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Proven experience building, deploying, and tuning relational and spatial databases, with deep proficiency in PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
• Exceptional skills in Python and SQL, specifically for backend geospatial data manipulation, automation, and API development (e.g., ArcPy, GeoPandas, SQLAlchemy).
• Hands-on experience deploying, maintaining, and scaling Esri Enterprise Architecture (Portal, Server, Data Store, Image Server).
• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar.
• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, version control (Git), and modern software development lifecycle practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a laser focus on system performance, backend reliability, and infrastructure optimization.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for GIS deployments
• Experience designing and scaling raster services, including modern formats (e.g., Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFs [COG], SpatioTemporal Asset Catalogs [STAC]), and enterprise image service delivery (e.g., Esri Image Server) to support high-volume Imagery Based Production (IBP).
• Experience taking nascent, ground-up GIS backend systems and evolving them into mature, highly performant enterprise architectures.
• Experience with Cloud Data Warehouse platforms such as Big Query or Snowflake.
• Familiarity with high-frequency spatial event data management and streaming architectures. Experience utilizing Elastic-stack technologies (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch) or message brokers (e.g., Apache Kafka) to synchronize real-time vehicle fleet telemetry and rapid map updates at scale.
• Familiarity with open-source GIS server technologies (e.g., GeoServer).
• Previous experience working in an autonomous vehicle (AV), ADAS, or high-definition (HD) mapping environment.

The Embedded Software team develops foundational platform software that is critical to development across the company. The team develops FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS, and bare metal environments for both QM and ASIL applications on a variety of embedded targets including ARM. Projects often impact all levels of the stack from the bootchain to applications and usually require cross-functional collaboration with other engineering teams. We have a strong passion for technical excellence and rigorous compliance with ASPICE and ISO26262. 

What you’ll do: 

• Own development of end-to-end embedded software features from concept through delivery.
• Deliver embedded software that runs on multiple platforms.
• Create architectures and development plans and help the team execute on them effectively.
• Collaborate with other Latitude and Ford software teams to ensure related dependencies are identified and resolved.
• Implement device drivers and bring-up new hardware for the first time.
• Mentor junior engineers and help set the direction of the program through deep technical analysis. 
• Establish and refine best practices for safety-critical embedded software development.

• Passion for Embedded Software Development in C and C++
• Experience with one or more of the following:
• FreeRTOS and SafeRTOS development on ARM architectures
• ISO26262, SOTIF, & ASPICE or similar standards for safety critical applications

• Embedded development on multi-core, ARM-based SOCs
• Strong project leadership and communication skills to collaborate across the ASPICE V-model

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $218,240 - $327,360 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. The Software Factory team is responsible for the developer build experience, making the process of developing, testing, and releasing software critical to Latitude’s mission. Team members develop, maintain, and improve an end-to-end infrastructure pipeline for a distributed build environment, and are integral to Product Development efforts to adopt new tools and technologies into a hermetic, deterministic, and scalable build ecosystem. Inside the team we use and maintain the build tooling (bazel), write build and test authoring tools (starlark, python), manage build environments (docker, containers), leverage a distributed remote execution and caching system (buildfarm), and host CI/CD resources that developers interact with to test and land changes (jenkins).

What you’ll do: 

In this role, you will help build and evolve:

• A High-Performance Cloud-Native Stack: Work with a blend of serverless cloud analytics tools and self-hosted Kubernetes deployments to serve a diverse range of internal stakeholders
• Abstracted Data Frameworks: Develop internal tooling that enables engineers to self-serve data loading and testing. You’ll work on systems capable of handling high-throughput, low-latency streaming and massively parallel bulk loads scaling to hundreds of terabytes daily, with robust support for generic and customer-defined data unit and integration testing and monitoring. You’ll work closely with teams such as Latitude’s Autonomy Analytics team, among many others, to understand and generalize platform feature needs and provide guidance/documentation on usage
• Open Source & Custom Tooling: We deploy and scale industry-leading data engineering and analytics tools. We lean into the open-source ecosystem, deploying and extending OS solutions such as dbt, Airflow and Superset to serve Latitude’s unique autonomy and ML use cases
• A Rich Metadata Layer: Provide the automation and cataloging tools that serve as the backbone for discovery and tracing. You will play a key role in enabling a well-documented data front ready for both human exploration and LLM/RAG-based consumption

What you'll need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree, or PhD
• Software Craftsmanship: Strong Python development skills with a focus on SOLID design principles. You have experience managing the full lifecycle of internal packages, from intake and design to release and maintenance.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience managing cloud infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (IaC). You should be comfortable with Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and observability via Grafana or similar.
• Data Fluency: Understanding of SQL and OLAP concepts. You are familiar with the architecture of Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) systems (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, or ClickHouse) and understand how to optimize for both performance and cost. Experience with dbt is a plus.
• Distributed Orchestration and Streaming: Familiarity with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster) and a conceptual understanding of distributed stream processing (e.g., the Apache Beam model). You should understand challenges like watermarks, stateful processing, and temporal consistency.
• The "Internal Customer" Mindset: You are a product-minded engineer. You have the empathy to understand the pain points of your fellow engineers and the drive to build tools that are actually useful. You maintain a high bar for quality while prioritizing high-impact delivery.

• Automated Release Engineering: A standard-bearer for CI/CD excellence. You understand how to build robust Jenkins or GitHub Actions pipelines that automate testing, linting, and deployment, ensuring a high-velocity but safe development environment.

Meet the team:

The Bench Infrastructure team is responsible for maintaining critical hardware test infrastructure services at Latitude. This infrastructure supports high-velocity code validation for hundreds of developers, on custom hardware for our next-generation automotive autonomy solution. We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join the team and ensure the test infrastructure is ready to support a significantly larger scale.

What you’ll do: 

• Design and implement software solutions to ensure the usability and supportability of hardware-in-the-loop test execution services
• Deliver streamlined tools which minimize friction for software engineers to build, test, and debug autonomy software
• Identify and resolve stability problems and security vulnerabilities across the entire stack, ensuring the platform remains resilient and secure as the hardware test infrastructure grows
• Leverage performance metrics to pinpoint and remove inefficiencies in test infrastructure logic and complex test runtimes
• Enhance the performance and reliability of test execution, ensuring scheduling logic balances both system throughput and urgent job prioritization
• Maintain performance analysis test logic, ensuring reliable execution and data-driven validation of software performance across diverse hardware configurations
• Act as a technical bridge between Autonomy Software Engineering, IT, and Operations to ensure cross-functional pain points are resolved with scalable technical solutions

What you'll need to succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience (or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or PhD)
• Strong communication, problem solving, task prioritization and teamwork skills 
• Proficiency with Python programming language, navigating a large codebase, and ability to learn other languages or technologies as needed
• Proven track record of designing, developing, and deploying full-stack applications at scale a Kubernetes-orchestrated production environment
• Ability to diagnose and resolve intricate problems in distributed systems and mitigate technical debt
• Experience with Linux systems, networking, distributed filesystems, and databases using SQL and ORMs

Nice to have: 

• Experience with full stack technologies: React, TypeScript, Flask, Postgres, & ORMs 
• Experience with DevOps technologies: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, & Ansible

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $179,200 - $268,800 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Latitude employees are also eligible to participate in Latitude’s annual bonus programs, equity compensation, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

Our Autonomy team works at the frontier of real-world robotics — building and deploying systems that navigate, perceive, and act in complex, uncontrolled warehouse environments. The team spans drone autonomy, perception, and MHE Vision, and operates across multiple active product lines with production deployments at customer sites. Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Engineer focused on building and scaling HIL test infrastructure and automation platforms. This role goes beyond test execution — you will design multi-bench systems, CI/CD-driven workflows, and reliable lab infrastructure to enable efficient, repeatable validation of Fort products.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) benches for system and device-level validation
• Build infrastructure for multi-bench orchestration (scheduling, parallel execution, resource management)
• Build and manage DevOps workflows for test infrastructure, including pipeline automation, environment provisioning, and artifact management.
• Design and integrate CI/CD pipelines for hardware-based testing
• Build containerized (like Docker) environments for reproducible test execution
• Develop systems to control hardware programmatically (power, connectivity, devices)

Qualifications

About The Role

Join the Autonomy team as a Senior Software Engineer where you will architect and contribute to the core robot software platform by driving the development of critical software modules and their interfaces. You will establish a data-driven approach to system performance by building scalable telemetry and metrics infrastructure, alongside rigorous regression testing plans, to track KPIs and monitor long-term reliability. This high-impact role is essential for enabling the next phase of commercial scaling by ensuring the robot can reliably perceive, plan, and execute complex tasks within dynamic environments.

About The Work

• Drive the implementation of selected middleware solutions to optimize communication and scalability across the core software platform.
• Define, document, review, and enforce process boundaries and API contracts, driving organization-wide alignment.
• Collaborate closely across the robot software and architecture teams to solve complex, cross-functional problems and ensure robust performance on physical robot hardware.

About You

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing multi-process robot architectures and distributed systems. Proficiency with different robotics middleware solutions (e.g., ROS, DDS, custom messaging) and experience with inter-process/inter-machine communication.
• Strong experience developing and maintaining telemetry/metrics pipelines (e.g., using OpenTelemetry/Otel). Proficiency in querying and analyzing large datasets using SQL-like big data tools (e.g., Amazon Athena, Spark SQL) and time-series databases (e.g., Prometheus, InfluxDB).
• Demonstrated expertise in simulation at scale, including techniques like domain randomization and procedural content generation. Hands-on experience transitioning models/behaviors from simulation (e.g., Gazebo, MuJoCo, Isaac Sim) to real-world physical robot hardware.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in robotics/testing (Python, C++).

• Hands-on experience creating impactful data visualizations and dashboards using tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Apache Superset.
