Duties:

• Deploy, Upgrade, Maintain third party application stacks for metrics, logging and APM
• Advanced troubleshooting of performance issues related to Linux
• Build, Maintain and troubleshoot containerized workloads in Kubernetes or docker
• Maintain CI/CD pipeline for developer code in Gitlab
• Support developers with deploying and maintaining application servers
• Create / Update Ansible code for configuration management of third-party applications
• Create / Update Terraform code for management of infrastructure
• Work with other teams to understand their specific needs and goals for observability and help them follow established processes and best practices to achieve those goals
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the Observability stack, answering questions from other teams on how to use the tools we provide
• Provide guidance and training to junior engineers
• Participate in 24x7 On Call support rotating weekly between Observability Engineers
• Work US based daytime hours

Requirements:

This is an intermediate position with expectation the candidate has a good amount of work experience to be self-sufficient.

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Linux administration (Ubuntu / Debian / CentOS / RHEL)
• Intermediate to advanced scripting abilities ( Bash / Python )
• Intermediate to advanced experience with hypervisor technologies ( Openstack / VMWare )
• Intermediate knowledge of networking concepts to be able to troubleshoot advance architectures that involve complex networks.
• 2+  years experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• 2+ years experience with Configuration as Code tools such as Ansible
• 2+  years experience with Grafana or a similar a Dashboarding tool
• 2+  years experience with Observability tools such as:
• Metrics: Prometheus / Mimir / Thanos / VictoriaDb / Graphite / InfluxDb
• Logs: Loki / Elasticsearch / Splunk
• Tracing/APM: Tempo / New Relic / AppDynamics
• 2+  years experience with public cloud operators specifically GCP and AWS
• 2+  years experience with Kubernetes and docker
• 2+  years experience with Kafka
• Experience with git and standard processes (branching and merge/pull request) for collaborative version control

As a Security Engineer, you will take on a key responsibility to improve the Security Logging & Monitoring Program by maturing the tools, processes and playbooks to reduce dwell time (indicators of which would be lowered MTTD&R, contributing to our ongoing efforts to drive business success and enhance customer satisfaction.

What you’ll do

• Responsible for SOC monitoring, use-case building, triage and advisory using cloud-native SIEM platforms
• Conduct initial triage of security events and incidents and document progress throughout the Incident Response Lifecycle
• Automate, optimize, automate and operate modern security solutions like EDR/EPPs and conventional Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Email Security, VPN, and MDM tools
• Leverage premium and open-source threat intel feeds to regularly sweep environments against rising APT campaigns
• Prepare status reports and follow up with the stakeholders through Jira and Incident Mgmt. Platform to close the remediation loop 
• Facilitate efficient Incident Detection and Response in AWS cloud and enterprise IT environments

What you’ll bring

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in mature SOC environments
• Security monitoring and incident response experience in public cloud environments such as AWS
• Experience with cloud SIEM & SOAR platforms, DDoS mitigation and preventing tools and Layer-7 Web-based perimeter security controls
• Understanding of network intrusion methods, network containment, segregation techniques and technologies such as Sandboxes and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (ID/PS)
• Ability to operate EDR, EPP and Device Management solutions as per best security practices
• Decent programming skills to enable data processing, IaC and security automations
• Good communication and reporting skills
• Experience with log analysis stacks like ElasticSearch, Splunk/SumoLogic
• Open to working on-call in rotational shifts
