Industrialization Engineer - Electrical Systems

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Industrialization Electrical Systems Engineer to support the development and manufacturing of low and medium voltage switchgear products. This role is critical to ensure the accuracy, safety, and reliability of electrical assemblies by reviewing designs, proposing wiring methods, validating product functionality, and collaborating with electrical designers and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Review and Validation:
- Interpret electrical schematics as single-line and three-line, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings to ensure manufacturability and compliance with standards.
- Identify design errors or inconsistencies and propose corrective actions to design teams.
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to align electrical design with physical constraints and manufacturing capabilities.
- Propose improvements to wiring methods and component selection to enhance reliability and ease of assembly.
- Process Definition and Documentation:
- Define and document standardized wiring processes for various switchgear configurations.
- Develop validation protocols for electrical assemblies, including continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing.
- Ensure traceability of design changes and maintain version control of electrical documentation.
- Support the creation of work instructions and training materials for technicians and assemblers.
- Product Validation and Testing:
- Lead the development of electrical validation procedures for prototype and production units.
- Define and implement test setups for verifying electrical performance and safety.
- Analyze test results and support root cause analysis for failures or deviations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., UL, IEC, IEEE) and internal quality requirements.
- Training and Technical Support:
- Train technicians and assemblers on proper wiring techniques, safety protocols, and interpretation of electrical drawings (single-line and three-line)
- Provide on-the-floor support during initial builds and troubleshooting of electrical issues.
- Develop visual aids and reference materials to support consistent execution of electrical tasks.
- Continuous Improvement and Collaboration:
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability.
- Collaborate with design, operations, and quality teams to improve product performance and reduce assembly errors. Building a close relationship with IEM Electrical Engineers
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
- Recommend new tools, components, or technologies to enhance electrical assembly processes.
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and wiring practices for low and medium voltage applications.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Familiarity with validation and testing methods for electrical assemblies.
- Knowledge of relevant standards (UL, IEC, IEEE) and safety protocols.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- +5 years of experience in electrical design, manufacturing, or testing of switchgear or electrical enclosures.
- Experience with CAD tools
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with cross-functional collaboration.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $89,440 -$135,000 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications.

You will serve as the technical link between customer engineering teams and ASM’s global Business Unit, ensuring new products and processes are introduced smoothly and successfully. Your work directly supports ASM’s mission to accelerate next‑generation semiconductor manufacturing through collaboration, technical excellence, and customer partnership.
What you will be working on
- MS degree with relevant internship, research, or academic project experience, or PhD with relevant academic, research, or internship experience in materials science, chemical engineering, or physics.
- Hands-on experience through internships, research, or academic projects involving processing, developing, or characterizing thin films using thermal ALD, plasma ALD, plasma CVD, epitaxy, or LPCVD reactors.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and structured problem-analysis skills gained through internships, lab work, or research projects (e.g., KT, FMEA, Ishikawa, 7-step methodologies).
- Experience designing, running, and interpreting DOEs or statistical experiments in academic, research, or internship settings.
- Familiarity with semiconductor device applications, vacuum techniques, metrology, and thin film characterization through coursework, lab work, or internships.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed for training and customer engagement; flexibility to support extended hours or weekends during qualifications or escalations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.

The Principal Field Process Engineer (FPE) is a senior individual contributor within ASM’s Key Account organization (Global Sales & Services) and serves as the technical authority and escalation owner for customer‑facing process applications.
