We're looking for a Senior Engineer with a strong background in computer science fundamentals, systems design, experience in the Java ecosystem, streaming systems, and data-intensive applications to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and optimizing the underlying data structures, algorithms, and database interactions that power our generative AI platform, code generation and migration tools. This role will be based out of North America in the PST and MST zones only.

The ideal candidate for this role will have

• 2+ years of  engineering experience in backend systems, distributed systems, or core platform development
• Experience in one or several of Java, Rust, C/C++, and/or Python, with a strong understanding of systems-level programming, memory management, and performance tuning
• Experience with streaming data platforms such as Apache Kafka and Change Data Capture (CDC) tools like Debezium

Role Summary: 

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of power electronics products. The primary function of this position is to design custom machinery and support the entire project cycle from concept development through installation, commissioning, and handover to the operations team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, Controls, manufacturing, and test engineers, to ensure efficient performance and reliability in high-power density environments.

Responsibilities:

•  Utilize CAD software CAD software (3D EXPERIENCE (3DX), CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Creo etc.) to create detailed mechanical designs.

• Model and design complex electro-mechanical parts, including plastics, sheet metal, insulators, magnetic components, and high-voltage connectors.

• Perform mechanical design analysis, including structural FEA, thermal CFD, vibration, and fatigue assessments.

• Solve packaging challenges involving electrical isolation, sealing, thermal dissipation, EMI/EMC shielding, and mechanical shock/vibration.

• Define and execute validation test plans including structural, thermal, and environmental testing.

•  2D drawings with GD&T for production and inspection.

• Create engineering documentation, tolerance stacks, BOMs, and release packages through PLM systems.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, thermal, Firmware and controls, manufacturing, test, and industrial design teams.

• Work closely with suppliers to optimize DFM, DFA, and tooling strategies for high-volume production.

• Lead prototype development, fabrication, assembly, and mechanical testing of new designs.

• Support root-cause analysis of design issues in pilot or production builds and lead iterative improvements.

• Drive trade studies to inform system-level decisions on design architecture, materials, and manufacturing processes.

• Guide selection for structural, thermal, and electrical compatibility in high-voltage environments.

• Contribute to the layout and design of integrated cooling systems including cold plates, thermal interfaces, and airflow paths.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design for power electronics, automotive, industrial, or energy products.

• Expertise in CAD modeling using 3D EXPERIENCE (CATIA V6/V5), SolidWorks, NX, or Creo.

• Deep understanding of mechanical fundamentals—statics, dynamics, heat transfer, and materials.

• Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFA principles.

• Experience designing enclosures for IP-rated or outdoor-rated power equipment.

• Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, extrusion, and sheet metal forming.

• Working knowledge of materials: metals (aluminum, steel), plastics, ceramics, gaskets, potting compounds.

• Hands-on experience taking designs from prototype through production deployment.

• Familiarity with PLM systems (3D EXPERIENCE, Windchill, etc.) and engineering change workflows.

As Compliance Testing Engineer, you will lead the compliance testing function at Amperesand, ensuring our products not only meet global regulatory requirements but do so with the most favorable interpretations and the least friction. You’ll own the strategic direction for product compliance, partner with engineering and product leadership to define certification pathways early in the development process, and engage directly with NRTLs such as TUV, Intertek, UL, CSA, and global authorities to shape testing outcomes and timelines. 

This is a key role requiring technical depth, organizational influence, and proactive engagement with evolving standards like UL 1741-SB, IEC 60730, and IEEE 1547.1. Your mission is to ensure Amperesand is always one step ahead—never waiting for compliance, but defining it. 

Responsibilities: 

• Leadership: Build, manage, deliver high-integrity documentation, lab coordination, and standard interpretation throughout the development lifecycle. 

• Regulatory Interpretation & Influence: Serve as the internal authority on complex standards (e.g., UL 1741-SB, IEEE 1547.1, IEC 60730, UL 1998). Shape how those standards are applied to our technology and advocate for interpretations that support innovation while preserving safety. 

• Engagement with NRTLs: Own relationships with certifying bodies (TUV, UL, CSA, Intertek), lead negotiations on test requirements, coordinate test campaigns, and influence outcomes through proactive preparation and ongoing technical dialogue. 

• Compliance Infrastructure: Create and own internal tools and processes for compliance tracking, certification documentation, product labeling, and pre-compliance validation. Drive automation where possible. 

• Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Product Management, Safety Engineering, Firmware, and Power Systems to ensure compliance is embedded across product definition, not bolted on later. 

• Global Perspective: Prepare products for international certification including CE, UKCA, RoHS, and other country-specific requirements. Lead alignment on modular design reuse and regulatory harmonization. 
• Standards Monitoring: Continuously monitor updates to key grid codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Lead Amperesand’s internal readiness reviews and communicate impact. 

Qualifications:

• Experience: 2+ years in compliance, safety engineering, or regulatory affairs within power electronics, energy systems, or electromechanical product development.  

• Standards Mastery: Expert knowledge of UL 1741-SB, IEEE 1547.1, IEC 60730, and familiarity with UL 1998, UL 508A, NEC 705/710/480/490, and IEC 61850. 

• Test Lab Authority: Demonstrated leadership in certification test preparation and execution. Deep experience negotiating technical positions with NRTLs and test agencies.
