Your Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our first product teams in Mumbai. You’ll be improving the operations of our internal team of sports analysts across Hudl Assist, Wyscout, InStat and Volleymetrics products. These products are used by thousands of teams around the world, from youth clubs to the pros. 

Example projects might include:

• Improving the tools used to deliver training to sports analysts
• Instrumenting our processes to facilitate continuous improvement for our operations team
• Iterating on manual data collection workflows to improve speed and accuracy
• Automating workflows using AI/ML, reducing manual effort, and improving scalability of our data pipelines

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll

• Be responsible for a diverse team. You’ll support your Engineers as they develop, test and maintain technical solutions. You’ll be a working manager, expected to balance management responsibilities with code contributions to ensure the team meets its commitments and delivers business impact.
• Work with a cross-functional team. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product, Design and Scrum disciplines to deliver product improvements for our customers. With our global team, these team members and stakeholders are located all over the world—so you may need to work evenings occasionally.
• Help improve analysis. You’ll work to improve training tools, processes and manual data collection workflows used by our sports analysts to improve their speed and accuracy.
• Automation & AI/ML. You’ll also play a key role in evolving our workflows through automation and AI/ML, helping reduce manual effort and improve scalability across our operations"

This role requires 4 days in the office per week, so we're currently considering candidates who live within a commuting distance of our offices in Mumbai.

Must-Haves

• Formal management experience. You have multiple years of experience managing Software Engineers and know how to guide teams to deliver business impact. You’ve taken the lead on tackling ambiguous technical challenges, proposing solutions to upcoming problems, and providing technical input on others’ work.
• Experience in mature, full-stack web applications. You’ve spent several years in a role, or roles, that had you building across all levels of a web application, from the client-side code, all the way down to the database. You have a professional background in TypeScript, React, GraphQL, C#, Java, PHP, MongoDB, MySQL and/or AWS
• English language proficiency. You have strong verbal and written communication skills. 
• Flexible schedule. We strive to maintain a healthy work-life balance, but in this role, it’s necessary to overlap your schedule with stakeholders and collaborators across time zones.

Role Purpose

The Product Manager (PM) will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of Boku’s In-App Storefront and Marketing products. In-app marketing creates a new direct-to-consumer channel for merchants by enabling them to engage users through storefronts, offers, and promotions embedded within payment partner mobile applications. This unlocks a powerful way for merchants to drive incremental sales, strengthen brand presence, and reach consumers directly inside the digital ecosystems they use every day.

The PM will play a key role in bringing this product line to market by translating strategy into execution. They will work closely with engineering, delivery, and commercial teams to define requirements, manage the backlog, and oversee timely product releases. By ensuring the delivery of high-quality SDKs, APIs, and integrations, the PM will enable wallet and app partners to support merchants in reaching consumers effectively, while contributing to Boku’s growth through new revenue-generating opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product leadership:
• Lead the day-to-day product lifecycle by defining scope, capturing requirements, and driving initial product releases.
• Ensure execution is aligned with the overarching strategy of the In-App Storefront product line as set by the Product Lead, with a focus on validating product-market fit and enabling early adoption.
2. Technical product management:
• Collaborate with Engineering to design and validate technical solutions, including authentication models, SDK flows, and merchant integration requirements, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
3. Cross-functional collaboration:
• Partner with Engineering, Delivery, Commercial, and Partner teams to ensure smooth technical implementation of SDKs, APIs, and integrations that enable merchants and wallet partners to embed storefront and marketing capabilities.
4. Execution alignment and stakeholder communication:
• Manage priorities, track progress against deliverables, and communicate updates to stakeholders across the business, escalating risks and dependencies to the Product Lead as needed.
5. Data-driven decision making:
• Establish success metrics and measurement frameworks for pilot launches.
• Use data from early experiments and partner integrations to validate assumptions, guide iteration, and identify areas for improvement.
6. Market analysis and positioning:
• Stay close to industry trends, wallet ecosystems, and merchant needs to identify the most viable opportunities for adoption.
• Gather insights from competitors and adjacent offerings to refine product positioning and inform go-to-market priorities.
7. Platform integration foundations:
• Partner with Engineering to develop APIs, SDKs, and integration features that make onboarding early partners straightforward.
• Prioritize flexibility and adaptability to support a variety of partner use cases, with scalability considerations built into the design for future growth.
8. Stakeholder communication:
• Act as a key liaison between product teams and leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment on priorities.
• Present roadmaps, updates, and outcomes to stakeholders, gathering feedback and adjusting plans as needed.

1. Adoption & Growth: Successful onboarding and adoption of In-App Storefront products by early wallet and merchant partners. Measurable increases in usage and engagement through pilot programs and initial market launches.
2. Customer & Partner Success: High levels of satisfaction from partners, measured by smooth integrations, feedback from pilots, and early indicators of product adoption and retention.
3. Product Delivery & Performance: Timely delivery of MVP and subsequent releases, with well-documented APIs/SDKs, minimal technical issues, and strong collaboration with Engineering to ensure stability and reliability.
4. Innovation & Development: Iterative delivery of new features and enhancements based on pilot learnings and partner feedback. Demonstrated ability to balance innovation with execution discipline.
5. Market Validation: Evidence of product-market fit demonstrated through merchant demand, early commercial wins, and validation against emerging market offerings.
6. Foundations for Scale: Development of a flexible and integration-ready platform that can evolve to support future growth across multiple partners and markets.

Key Skills and Competencies

Experience:

• 3+ years of product management experience, ideally in B2B, fintech, or mobile application ecosystems.
• Demonstrated success in delivering new products from concept through MVP and pilot launch.
• Experience working directly with engineering teams to deliver APIs, SDKs, and customer-facing integrations.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of product management principles, with a focus on execution, backlog management, and delivering technical products to market.
• Familiarity with front-end and mobile app development processes, including user flows, UX considerations, and partner integration requirements.
• Ability to define and manage technical requirements for APIs, SDKs, and secure authentication flows.

Technical Proficiency:

• Comfortable discussing architecture and technical tradeoffs with engineers across web and mobile platforms.
• Familiarity with modern web technologies (e.g., JavaScript frameworks, REST/GraphQL APIs) and mobile app development environments (iOS, Android).
• Understanding of cloud-based infrastructure, data security, and integration best practices.
• Hands-on experience with product management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and analytics platforms.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills to translate technical details into clear requirements for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities across cross-functional teams.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-moving, early-stage product environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on SDKs, developer tools, or integration-heavy products.
• Exposure to fintech, wallet ecosystems, or in-app commerce/marketing solutions.
• Familiarity with Agile and Lean product development methodologies, including iterative releases and test-and-learn approaches.
• Basic understanding of B2B SaaS metrics such as adoption, retention, and engagement.

We are seeking an experienced Shopify Lead to drive the architecture, design, and execution of enterprise-grade e-commerce solutions on Shopify and Shopify Plus. This role involves technical leadership, solution design, and team mentorship while ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performing Shopify implementations aligned with business goals. 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technologist and strategic thinker with deep expertise in Shopify and a proven track record of leading complex digital commerce projects end-to-end. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead the architecture, customization, and development of advanced Shopify Plus storefronts and ecosystems. 
• Define and enforce technical standards, best practices, and coding guidelines across Shopify projects. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams — including UI/UX, Product, Marketing, and Operations — to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. 
• Own full lifecycle delivery of Shopify projects: design, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch optimization. 
• Develop and integrate custom apps, APIs, and third-party services (ERP, CRM, OMS, payment gateways, analytics, etc.). 
• Drive performance optimization, SEO best practices, and security compliance for all Shopify storefronts. 
• Mentor and guide a team of developers; conduct technical reviews, training, and knowledge-sharing sessions. 
• Evaluate new Shopify releases, technologies, and tools to continuously improve the development ecosystem. 
• Act as the technical point of contact for Shopify-related discussions with stakeholders, clients, and leadership. 

What we want from you:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 
• 10+ years of total web development experience with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to Shopify and Shopify Plus. 
• Expert-level proficiency in Shopify Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and AJAX. 
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue.js, or Next.js) and headless commerce architecture. 
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and Shopify Admin API integrations. 
• Proven experience in developing custom Shopify apps (public/private) using Node.js, Express, or Laravel. 
• Deep knowledge of Shopify Plus features, multi-store setup, localization, and internationalization. 
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and deployment management. 
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, code reviews, and delivery timelines in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. 

If you know some of this even better:

• Experience with Shopify Hydrogen, Oxygen, or headless commerce implementations. 
• Exposure to data-driven e-commerce optimization tools (Klaviyo, Segment, GTM, etc.). 
• Knowledge of SEO, performance tuning, and analytics integration for Shopify stores. 
• Prior experience working in agency environments or with enterprise-scale e-commerce clients.
