At Varicent, we’re driven by the belief that great people power great companies. As our Senior Software Developer, GenAI, you’ll contribute to building and scaling production-grade AI systems that directly impact how our customers use and experience our products.
You’ll contribute to the delivery of GenAI-powered features, collaborate closely with technical leads, and play a key role in maintaining technical quality, reliability, and scalability across a core product area. This role is ideal for a strong individual contributor who enjoys hands-on development, learning new technologies, and turning ideas into high-quality production systems.
Overview
• Build and improve AI-enabled product features from prototype to production. You’ll work within an end-to-end engineering team that owns build quality, release readiness, and ongoing improvements.
What You’ll Do:
• Build and maintain product features and supporting backend components, including services, integrations, and internal workflows.
• Write production-ready code and lightweight prototypes to validate ideas quickly.
• Create automated tests and proactively fix issues to keep releases stable, as engineers own quality without a dedicated QA function.
• Support proof-of-concepts and experiments by setting up test cases, reviewing results, and improving areas where quality is weak.
• Document systems and workflows so others can run, maintain, and extend what you build.
GenAI Competencies You’ll Practice:
• Translate business problems into clear AI tasks and implement end-to-end solutions with guidance from technical leads.
• Prepare and maintain data and test cases used to measure output quality.
• Apply common AI application patterns such as prompting, using internal knowledge sources, and calling external tools or APIs.
• Measure quality using repeatable evaluation methods, including automated checks and structured human review when required.
• Contribute to production readiness through versioning, monitoring, basic performance and cost awareness, and usage tracking.
• Follow privacy, security, and compliance requirements in collaboration with Legal and Security teams.
How We Work:
• We balance exploration with delivery — test ideas quickly, then productionize what works.
• “Done” means quality goals are met, followed by continuous improvement in accuracy, cost, and performance.
• The team owns systems end-to-end, including build, release, and operational reliability.
What You Bring:
• 4+ years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years building and shipping production systems in product teams.
• 4+ years of hands-on technical experience writing production-quality code.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design and scalable architecture.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript (or similar), building APIs, services, and data pipelines.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability.
• An experimentation mindset — able to define metrics, build evaluation frameworks, and iterate quickly in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Strong interest in learning and applying GenAI technologies in practical, production environments.
Nice to Have:
• Hands-on experience with GenAI/LLMs, including prompt engineering, retrieval/RAG, embeddings, tool or function calling, fine-tuning, or evaluation pipelines.
• Familiarity with LLMOps practices such as experiment tracking, version control for prompts or models, and cost or latency optimization.
• Experience with tools such as LangChain/LangGraph, OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, and vector databases like Pinecone, FAISS, or Milvus.
• Contributions to open source, technical blogs, or conference talks.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nu is the world's largest digital banking platform outside of Asia, serving over 127 million customers across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. Guided by its mission to fight complexity and empower people, Nu caters to customers' complete financial journey — promoting financial access with responsible lending and transparency. Recognised by Time 100 Companies, Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies, and Forbes World's Best Banks, Nu is now entering its next growth cycle: accelerating internationalisation outside Latin America and expanding into new verticals beyond financial services.
The People Analytics Technology Operations (PATO) team is redefining what People & Culture infrastructure looks like for a company operating at global scale with an AI-first mandate. We don't run HR software — we build the systems that make HR itself obsolete in its traditional form. Our work touches every Nubanker, every country, every moment of the employee lifecycle. We are the internal frontier lab for agentic people systems.
Here is the core question this role exists to answer: if you were designing People & Culture infrastructure from scratch today — knowing that AI agents will run most operations, humans will audit rather than execute, and the channels and surfaces workers interact with don't fully exist yet — what would you build?
This isn't a rhetorical question. It's the actual brief.
The SaaS era of HR technology is being disrupted faster than most incumbents can adapt. Workday, SAP, ServiceNow — products built for a world of human workflows and form-based interfaces — are structurally ill-equipped for an agent-native operating model. The real competitive moat in this next era won't be features. It will be the depth of integration within a specific domain, and the quality of the data and reasoning layer that sits beneath it. We have the rare opportunity to build that solution — purpose-built for the People & Culture domain — inside one of the most technically ambitious companies in the world.
As Global People Data & Tech Director, you will lead the effort to design and build this from the ground up. You will define what the agentic HR stack looks like: the data models that make agents actually useful, the orchestration layer that lets them act with minimal human friction, the audit surfaces that let people stay in control without becoming bottlenecks, and the foundational platform that scales to 40+ markets without scaling the team that builds it. Agentic development practices aren't a side methodology here — they are how this organisation will operate. You build with agents, you build for agents, and your team stays lean precisely because of it.
This role isn't for someone who has deep experience with HR software. It's for someone who looks at HR software and sees an industry ripe to be rebuilt. You are a product and infrastructure thinker who happens to care deeply about the employee experience — and who has the technical depth and organisational leadership to translate that vision into production systems used by hundreds of thousands of people.
We are not looking for someone who has spent their career in HR technology. We are looking for someone who has built consequential software systems, who thinks seriously about agents and automation, and who is intellectually excited by the opportunity to apply that background to a domain that is fundamentally underbuilt.

About Wonderschool
Wonderschool’s mission is to ensure every child has access to early childhood education that helps them realize their full potential. We empower small business owners, childcare providers, to launch and grow in-home programs through cutting-edge software, personalized coaching, and responsive support. We also partner with governments to modernize public childcare infrastructure. Our team is small, fast-moving, and deeply motivated by the impact we create in families and communities across the country.
About the Role
We are looking for a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to lead product development on some of the most strategically important initiatives at Wonderschool. You’ll spend your time working directly with customers (traveling as needed), uncovering pain points, and building AI-powered solutions that drive measurable impact across revenue, operational efficiency, and user experience. You’ll act like a founder inside the company: identifying problems, shipping code, driving adoption, and iterating quickly based on what you learn. This role blends engineering, product, operations, and business leadership, and is ideal for someone who has launched products, acquired users, and driven growth independently. You will work closely with our sales, onboarding, and account management teams to automate workflows, build better customer experiences, and unlock new growth.
This role is inspired by best-in-class FDSEs at companies like Palantir and is perfect for builders who love solving real-world problems in the field, not from behind a desk.
What You’ll Do
Work directly with users and internal teams to identify high-leverage problems and ship product solutions. Write production code (approximately 50% of your time) and ship weekly improvements across the customer journey. Use tools like Widesurf, Cursor, and other AI accelerators to increase your velocity and quality of output. Build and deploy AI-powered tooling that eliminates manual effort and improves the experience for providers, parents, and government partners. Automate onboarding flows, proposal generation, reporting processes, and other operational workflows. Own full loops: talk to users, design solutions, write code, test, deploy, and monitor adoption. Prioritize based on business impact and collaborate across teams to drive measurable results.
What Success Looks Like
You uncover user pain points faster than anyone else and consistently ship solutions that address them. You deploy AI-infused internal tools or product experiences that improve core metrics (conversion, retention, revenue). You fully own feedback loops, from discovery to deployment, and iterate rapidly. Internal teams rely on your tools to operate faster and with fewer resources. You’re moving fast, staying close to the customer, and operating with very little hand-holding.
Who You Are
A builder and founder at heart, you’ve started a company, built products that got users, or made revenue independently. Comfortable talking to users weekly and distilling insight into product decisions. Technical enough to ship production code on your own, experience with Python, JavaScript, or similar languages. Experienced using AI/LLMs and developer tools like Windsurf and Cursor to move faster and smarter. Business-minded, you’ve worked in consulting, managed a P&L, or attended business school and know how to prioritize based on ROI. Comfortable operating in ambiguity and energized by a high-trust, high-impact, in-person environment.
Why Join Us
Make a direct impact on families, small business owners, and communities. Operate with founder-like ownership on the company’s most important priorities. Join a small, fast-moving team with a bias for action. Talk to users, ship weekly, and see your work go live and drive real-world outcomes. Help reimagine early education and child care for the modern era.
