Director of Software Development

Position Summary

The Director of Software Development leads multi-disciplinary engineering organizations responsible for delivering, testing, and supporting enterprise software products. This role owns execution, quality, and operational outcomes across development, test, and PMO teams, while embedding AI and metrics-driven decision-making into daily engineering practice.

Local architects and development, test, and PMO managers report to this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end software delivery through managers, aligning execution to business objectives, customer outcomes, and operational reliability.
• Establish and enforce modern SDLC practices across development, testing, and support.
• Drive AI-first engineering execution, embedding AI into development, testing, release, and support workflows as a standard operating model.
• Lead and coach engineering managers and architects, building a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and measurable outcomes.
• Operate a metrics-driven engineering organization using delivery, quality, and reliability signals to guide decisions.
• Oversee testing and support organizations to ensure high product quality, rapid incident resolution, and strong customer satisfaction.
• Identify delivery, quality, and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies informed by data and analytics.
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience leading software development organizations through multiple layers of management.
• Strong background in metrics-driven engineering, including DORA metrics and SRE-informed operating models.
• Experience applying SRE principles such as SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, observability, and incident management.
• Demonstrated hands-on leadership integrating AI into software development, testing, and support workflows.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience with Agile and modern software delivery practices.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on familiarity with modern programming languages, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with AI-assisted SDLC platforms, AIOps, and engineering analytics.
• Track record of improving delivery speed, quality, reliability, and customer outcomes using data and automation.

Working Conditions

Full-time role in a collaborative environment. Occasional travel may be required.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

At Clari + Salesloft, our Data Engineer will be pivotal to our company’s success. You will be a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing Data & Analytics (D&A) team, helping build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers all of our internal reporting and analytics for multiple business teams. As a team, we are actively implementing the latest AI features and cutting-edge technologies to drive business insights.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for architecting and delivering end-to-end data pipelines to support internal stakeholders. Specifically, you will:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and services for analytics and business intelligence.
• Develop data flows and applications for machine learning, analytics, and third-party data integrations.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deploy models and analytical solutions.
• Perform heads-down development, test your code, review peer code, and ship it to production.

THE SKILL SET:

Core Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake core features, focusing on performance optimization and efficient data warehousing practices.
• Proven ability to build scalable, tested transformation layers using DBT.
• Experience managing data pipelines with Airflow and ingestion tools such as Fivetran or Estuary.
• Comfortable working with AI-assisted development tools such as Snowflake Cortex, Gemini Enterprise, or GitHub Copilot.
• Strong Git workflow experience in Agile environments (Jira).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with BI/analytics tools and supporting reporting workflows.
• Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM data, particularly in SaaS environments.
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP, REST APIs (Postman), or Databricks.
• Exposure to Machine Learning, AI, or Data Science frameworks.

THE SKILL SET:

• 2+ years of experience building reliable, scalable production software in Java within microservice-based environments
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and experience troubleshooting and operating production systems
• Proven ability to improve system reliability, performance, and operational excellence, including incident resolution and root-cause analysis
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Solid experience with relational (PostgreSQL preferred) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), including data modeling and performance optimization
• Demonstrated ability to use observability systems (metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting) and common Java testing frameworks

C3 AI is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Full-Stack located at our office in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain performant and scalable full-stack applications.
• Build and improve visual tools for application development and data science that enable users to build an end-to-end AI application quickly.
