Monks is seeking an experienced client-facing Data Engineer (Marketing & BI) to drive data and analytics delivery across marketing, audience, and e-commerce engagements for both small and large enterprise clients. 

This is a hands-on role that blends business and data responsibilities. Your time will be split approximately 70% on client delivery and 30% internal (capability building, reusable assets, innovation, growth, etc). You’ll be focused on SQL-based data modelling and analytics delivery, and you’ll run client workshops and stakeholder management, while also building out solutions in the broader BI space, executing technical implementations across a range of analytics and cloud data platforms.

The ideal candidate has a history of working with modern data products (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift), and a proven track record of experience with the modern data stack based on cloud technologies, including data transformation, orchestration, warehousing and modelling, as well as BI and dashboard design using tools like Looker Studio, Power BI or Tableau.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead requirements discovery and translate business questions into data/measurement solutions.
• Design data models (dimensional/star schemas) to support scalable reporting and self-serve analytics.
• Design and model data across various cloud data warehouses (BigQuery/Snowflake/Databricks/Redshift) from marketing, web/app, and e-commerce sources; exact platform varies by client.
• Articulate, design and develop BI dashboards and custom reporting experiences using tools such as Looker Studio, Power BI and Tableau.
• Establish data quality, monitoring, documentation, and governance practices.
• Partner with analytics/measurement teams on tracking approaches (GA4/GTM) to ensure usable downstream data.
• Present insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders; influence roadmaps, estimation and prioritisation.
• Contribute reusable assets (templates, data patterns, dashboard standards) to the wider Monks APAC data capability.
  
  

Requirements

• A minimum of 2+ years experience in data engineering / analytics engineering / BI engineering.
• At least 1 year experience in client-facing delivery, consultancy or agency 
• Expert SQL skills, primarily in an ETL/ELT context; we are BigQuery first, but some Python is also favoured.
• Strong dimensional modeling (star schemas), warehouse design, and metric/KPI definition for analytics use cases.
• Experience with BigQuery and at least one other cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, etc).
• Experience building BI dashboards (Looker Studio, Power BI, Tableau).
• Hands-on experience with mainstream analytics platforms and data collection approaches, including Google Marketing Platform tooling (GTM, GA4, etc) preferred
• Experience with transformation and orchestration tools including dbt, Airflow, Dagster or Prefect.
• Familiarity with broader enterprise BI platforms such as Looker (LookML/custom visualisations) or Datorama.
• An understanding of the adtech/martech/data landscape; CRM & CDP familiarity is a strong plus.

About the Team

The Ad sales team is responsible for the advertising vision, development and growth of our largest advertising partnerships. This is a newly created team, seeking founding members to build an industry-leading ads and promotions business across DoorDash’s core categories, starting with CPG brands. What you will do:

Lead analytics delivery for a core domain
Own and deliver high-quality, scalable analytics for the marketing domain, supporting campaign performance and growth initiatives with consistent and reliable insights.

Partner with stakeholders on growth & customer insights

Design and scale data models and semantic layer

Collaborate across Data Engineering and Product teams
Partner with Data Engineers and Engineering to integrate third-party data sources, improve tracking and instrumentation, and ensure alignment with the broader data platform.

Lead, mentor, and uplift the team
Provide technical leadership, set standards for analytics and data modelling, and support the growth and capability uplift of analysts across the team.

Drive data culture, governance, and best practices
Promote data-driven decision-making, improve documentation and data quality standards, and enable scalable self-serve analytics across stakeholders.

What you will bring:

• Experience mentoring or leading a team data analysts
• Strong experience in SQL and Python
• Proven experience in data modelling/analytics engineering (e.g. dbt, SQL transformations)
• Experience working with modern data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks or Snowflake)
• Solid understanding of data pipelines and data architecture (e.g. bronze/silver/gold layers)
• Strong analytical thinking — able to translate business problems into data solutions
