We are looking for a talented and inquisitive Principal Firmware Engineer / Team Lead whose drive for learning and determination for continuous improvement aligns with our ambitious, fast-growing and transforming company. Based in Melbourne, you will be a key player in the Research & Development team that designs the wearable tracking hardware that Catapult is famous for. You will be working with the most cutting edge technology and integrating components across our wearables and stadium infrastructure. Reporting to the Engineering Director, the primary responsibility of the Principal Firmware Engineer / Team Lead is to develop firmware solutions for the elite sports industry.  You will be responsible for the firmware development cycle and to ensure that our products have a high level of quality.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

• Lead a team which brings up new hardware from scratch, and develops device trees and boot chains.
• Develop Linux kernel for ARM Cortex-A hardware platforms, and wireless firmware for ARM Cortex hardware platforms.
• Lead team DevOps practices, engineering processes, and design discussions with the view of continuously lifting quality and improving.
• Drive best practices around code quality and organization throughout the entire development process and in coordination with team objectives.
• Promote innovation, lead technical strategy and architecture planning, discussion, and collaboration through documentation.
• Providing technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members.
• Take a player-coach approach to leadership, be a multiplier and have a passion for team and team members’ success.
• Partner with product managers to align on objectives, priorities, tradeoffs and risk.
• Ensure teams have clear priorities and adequate resources to execute on plan.
• Work in multidisciplinary teams and interface with other engineers in our team and across various disciplines to create alignment.
• Lead firmware engineering “chapters” where best practice is shared amongst other firmware engineers within the business.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Formal qualifications in electronics or software engineering.
• At least 5-10 years of firmware development experience.
• Demonstrated experience programming with C, C++ and Python.
• Demonstrated Linux (e.g. Yocto/PetaLinux) experience including building the kernel, developing custom kernels, device trees, and developing Linux drivers.
• Demonstrated experience with common wireless communications standards and protocols, such as BLE, Wi-Fi, UWB and long range/low bit rate applications.
• Experience developing products, scaling them and supporting them throughout the entire lifecycle.
• Experience bringing up new hardware from scratch.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe firmware product features, and technical designs.
• Ability to be nimble, proactive, comfortable working with minimal specifications.
• A solid understanding of what high performance looks like, and how to drive it.
• Experience with Atlassian’s platform for defect tracking and documentation is highly desired.
• Experience with Git code management is highly desired.
• Experience with Rust or a willingness to learn it is highly desirable.
• Occasionally providing technical support to customers (which may be on the weekend or after hours).

Monks is seeking an experienced client-facing Data Engineer (Marketing & BI) to drive data and analytics delivery across marketing, audience, and e-commerce engagements for both small and large enterprise clients. 

This is a hands-on role that blends business and data responsibilities. Your time will be split approximately 70% on client delivery and 30% internal (capability building, reusable assets, innovation, growth, etc). Requirements

• A minimum of 2+ years experience in data engineering / analytics engineering / BI engineering.
• At least 1 year experience in client-facing delivery, consultancy or agency 
• Expert SQL skills, primarily in an ETL/ELT context; we are BigQuery first, but some Python is also favoured.
• Strong dimensional modeling (star schemas), warehouse design, and metric/KPI definition for analytics use cases.
• Experience with BigQuery and at least one other cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, etc).
• Experience building BI dashboards (Looker Studio, Power BI, Tableau).
• Hands-on experience with mainstream analytics platforms and data collection approaches, including Google Marketing Platform tooling (GTM, GA4, etc) preferred
• Experience with transformation and orchestration tools including dbt, Airflow, Dagster or Prefect.
• Familiarity with broader enterprise BI platforms such as Looker (LookML/custom visualisations) or Datorama.
• An understanding of the adtech/martech/data landscape; CRM & CDP familiarity is a strong plus.

About the Job

Software Engineers contribute to the delivery of a variety of software integrated in to our products. This includes autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control and decision support. We expect Software Engineers to demonstrate end-to-end outcome ownership of their projects, contributing as a member of a team to the rapid architecting, design, delivery, support, and evolution of next generation autonomous platforms through their entire product life-cycle.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience
• Professional experience working as a Software Engineer with one or more domains and/or technologies of competence
• Systems and/or application programming skills including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing and software design
• Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
• Capacity to work holistically on software enabled capabilities up and down the software stack and through lifecycle through design, implementation, operation and sustainment
• Capacity to learn and grow rapidly, building personal and team capacity, growing your skills to the standard of Senior Software Engineer
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the delivery of a military mission system
• Experience writing backend services or embedded software in C++, Rust and/or Go

About the Job

Staff Robotics Engineers lead the delivery of vehicle perception and planning capability integrated in to our products, acting as technical leads, extremely senior individual contributors, and/or as team leads that are also hands-on contributors. . This includes systems analysis, sensor selection and integration, perception architecture and implementation, motion planning, health management, behaviour analysis, simulation and test infrastructure, and interfaces with lower- and higher-level systems. • Own customer success through the design and delivery of a multi-year, multi-stakeholder software roadmap that spans across multiple teams.
• Leverage internal product and program-specific engineering teams to rapidly deliver capability beyond the scope of current platforms, with a clear path for both architecture and capability evolution over time
• Partner with external teams, collaborating on interfacing requirements between diverse systems and technologies
• Lead teams that architect, design and implement trusted safe navigation, collision avoidance, and situational awareness systems that balance constraints, restrictions and requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment.

About the Job

Software Engineering Managers independently lead teams to deliver a variety of software integrated in to our products. This includes autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control or decision support. What you will do:

Key Responsibilities:

You'll own and drive the quality engineering strategy across the Karbon application, leading the transformation from a QA gatekeeping model to a developer-led quality culture where squads ship confidently without dedicated QA gatekeepers. This role sits at the intersection of technology, people, and process — building the foundations that enable every engineer to own quality.

We're in a significant transition. Our test automation stack needs uplift, our quality team needs strong technical leadership, and our developers need better tools and enablement to embed quality into their daily workflow. You'll lead this transformation end-to-end.

AI is central to how we want to work.
