Principal Software Engineer

Recorded Future is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Engineering team, responsible for building and scaling the pipelines that power the Security Intelligence Graph. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will work across application code and infrastructure to collect, transform, and deliver structured threat data: tracking malware infrastructure, phishing campaigns, spam networks, command-and-control systems, and more. You will play a key role in driving architectural improvements and ensuring the platform scales effectively as it continues to grow.
What You'll Do:
- Data Pipeline Ownership: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that collect, transform, and deliver structured threat intelligence data powering the Security Intelligence Graph.
- Architecture & Scalability: Drive meaningful architectural improvements across data and platform systems to ensure long-term scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Full-Stack Engineering: Work across both application code and infrastructure, contributing to backend services, data systems, and platform capabilities.
- Data Processing & Analysis: Apply statistical techniques to large-scale datasets to generate accurate and impactful insights.
- Reliability & Observability: Ensure production-grade pipeline reliability through strong observability, error handling, and failure recovery practices.
- Infrastructure & Deployment: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices to support efficient and repeatable deployments.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across teams, geographies, and varying levels of technical expertise.
- Technical Leadership: Engage with technical leaders across teams and contribute to raising the engineering bar through knowledge sharing and best practices.
What You'll Bring:
- At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or platform engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in Go or Rust considered a plus.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with message queues and pub/sub systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with SQL databases such as Postgres or AWS RDS, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with data lake storage frameworks such as Delta Lake and graph databases such as AWS Neptune or Neo4j.
- Experience developing REST APIs using frameworks such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI.
- Proven experience architecting and delivering production-grade applications and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Strong understanding of building reliable data pipelines, including observability, error handling, and failure recovery.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; GitHub Actions experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools; Terraform experience is a plus.
- Comfort working with high-volume, complex, and unstructured data.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to debug both software and data issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently while delivering high-quality results.
- Interest in or familiarity with security data domains such as threat infrastructure, malware, or network telemetry.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or interest in cybersecurity data domains such as malware analysis, phishing detection, or network telemetry.
- Experience working with graph-based data systems or security intelligence platforms.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $152,000-$228,500. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The salary displayed reflects the range for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by state, work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and medical, dental, vision, life insurance and 401K. Team Overview
The Security Applications & Tools (SAT) team within Lattice Platform Security builds custom software systems that detect, manage, and remediate vulnerabilities across Anduril's product ecosystem at scale. We don't just deploy scanners — we design and build distributed scanning infrastructure, policy enforcement engines, and vulnerability management platforms from the ground up. Our stack includes event-driven architectures on AWS, custom Go services, policy-as-code systems, and integrations that span CI pipelines to production environments.
Job Description
We're looking for a senior software engineer to design and build the systems that keep Anduril's software secure. This is a software engineering role first — you'll architect distributed systems, write production Go and Python, build APIs, and operate services at scale. The domain is security, but the work is building real software: custom scanning orchestration pipelines, policy engines that evaluate thousands of configurations against security rules, and data systems that track vulnerabilities across an entire product ecosystem. If you want to write code that solves hard engineering problems in the security space rather than configure off-the-shelf tools, this is the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build distributed services for vulnerability scanning, policy enforcement, and remediation workflows
- Develop and extend the team's scanning orchestration platform — an event-driven architecture built on AWS (SQS, Lambda, S3, ECR) that processes scan events at org-wide scale
- Build and maintain policy-as-code systems that programmatically enforce security policy in CI/CD pipelines and deployment configurations
- Design APIs and CLIs that integrate security tooling into developer workflows without creating friction
- Develop data pipelines that aggregate, normalize, and route findings from multiple scanning engines into vulnerability management systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams across Anduril to understand their security needs and build tooling that addresses them
- Evaluate third-party security tools and build custom integrations or replacements where needed
- Participate in on-call rotation for security tooling infrastructure
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing production software systems
- Strong proficiency in Go — this is the team's primary language for backend services
- Experience building distributed systems or data pipelines (event-driven architectures, message queues, APIs, worker systems)
- Proficiency with Python for scripting, automation, and tooling
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred: Lambda, SQS, S3, ECR, or equivalent)
- Ability to read and understand security tool output (vulnerability reports, SBOMs, static analysis results) and build systems around it
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across teams
- Eligible to obtain and maintain active U.S. Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD systems (CircleCI, GitHub Actions) and building integrations for developer workflows
- Familiarity with container security concepts, SBOM generation tools (Syft), and vulnerability scanners (Trivy, Grype, Semgrep)
- Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience with policy-as-code frameworks (OPA/Rego, Conftest)
- Background in application security or product security engineering
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Familiarity with Nix build systems

Role overview
As the Technical Product Manager (TPM) for the Pipelines & Automation (PnA) team within Engineering Platform, you will own the CI/CD pipeline platform, software quality tooling, and test automation frameworks that enable all of CarGurus engineering to deliver code faster and with higher confidence.
You will create vision, drive requirements and the roadmap, and support the team by propelling critical initiatives that will fuel our ability to innovate, move quickly, and stay ahead of the competition while embracing and utilizing AI capabilities. That includes our CI modernization (continuing the onboarding of a SaaS CI platform), continued expansion of our Continuous Deployment (CD) pipeline, contract testing, quality gates and frameworks, and the integration of AI-augmented testing and pipeline capabilities.
You will be part of a team of technical product managers who collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to deliver products and systems that directly impact the success of the entire engineering organization.
What you'll do
- Build a strong partnership with the Engineering Platform team — and specifically the Pipelines & Automation squad — to support their service-oriented position within the organization.
- Gain a deep understanding of our CI/CD platform, quality frameworks, pipeline capabilities, and the unique challenges we face as a rapidly growing company.
- Co-own the team's vision and roadmap; generate buy-in and facilitate cross-functional collaboration with a wide range of technical stakeholders across Product Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, and other platform teams.
- Complete the CI modernization initiative — design for remaining teams, migration planning, and rollout to engineering teams.
- Champion continued adoption and maturation of our CD pipeline (TTMA), including progressive delivery patterns such as canary analysis and automated rollbacks.
- Own the product direction for quality gates, test automation frameworks, contract testing, and quality metrics collection that are embedded within the pipeline.
- Ensure that prioritization of work aligns with high-level strategies and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and agentic workflows to improve pipeline reliability, test generation, and developer feedback loops.
- Maintain high levels of engagement with stakeholders through various forms of written and verbal communication, including roadmaps, project plans, status reports, and executive presentations.
- Advocate for adoption of frameworks, tooling, and pipeline capabilities being built out by the centralized platform team.
What you'll bring
- 5+ years of product management experience, including working with engineering teams. Prior engineering background is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD platforms and tooling — experience driving requirements and management of systems such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Concourse, Jenkins, or similar. Understanding of pipeline-as-code, declarative pipeline configuration, and progressive delivery patterns (canary, blue-green).
- An understanding of software quality automation best practices, industry standards, and tooling — including quality gates, test automation frameworks, and contract testing.
- Experience gathering requirements from internal engineering customers while filtering into strategic direction.
- Strong judgment to prioritize various incoming and generated requirements based on value-add to the organization.
- A passion for improving the developer experience through reliable, fast, and transparent build and delivery processes.
- An enthusiasm for utilizing AI tools to accelerate your work as well as how AI can enable and accelerate engineering.

CarGurus is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure team. This team is responsible for providing a reliable, secure, and consumable AWS based platform for revenue-generating applications and the product engineering teams behind them.
In this role you will be a key owner of the cloud platforms that power our global automotive marketplace, and you will help build opinionated, self-service infrastructure that lets engineers ship fast, safely, and with confidence. Role overview
Our team is responsible for designing and operating the core cloud infrastructure at CarGurus. This includes managing domains such as governance, cost attribution, networking, serverless workloads, and OS configuration/orchestration. We also handle CarGurus' edge infrastructure (registrars, DNS, CDN) and maintain essential shared engineering systems like GitHub, Artifactory, and Rundeck, which are critical for how our engineers build, deploy, and operate services.

- Platform Development & Evolution: Design, build, and operate CarGurus' production infrastructure in collaboration with support and build/delivery platform teams. Evolve compute, storage, and data platforms on AWS (e.g., S3, EC2, EKS, ELB, Route53, IAM).
- Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Drive IaC and automation practices (Terraform, Chef, Git, GitHub Actions, Concourse) to ensure secure, repeatable lifecycle operations.
- Cloud Governance: Shape and implement cloud governance, tagging, and reporting standards to support resource attribution and ownership.

- Develop, configure, and maintain software development (CI/CD) tools (github actions runners, ArgoCD, etc).
Qualifications Required:
- 3+ years of professional experience in infrastructure management or backend software development experience in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more of the following languages: Python, Javascript, or Unix Shell.
- Experience with AWS, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling production workloads.
- General experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker.
- Comfortable working in an operational environment, including participation in an on-call schedule.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $135,000 - $165,000 annually + commission depending on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location.
