• Prepare meals based on menu requirements.
• Review menus and select appropriate ingredients and supplies in order to prepare for cooking meals, including selecting the appropriate amount of food for daily menus.
• Obtain necessary supplies from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
• Cook breakfast, and/or lunch, and/or dinner meals that are nourishing, palatable and appetizing in appearance using standard recipes.
•  Monitor quality of food items during production for taste, smell, appearance, and temperature.
• Prepare meals in a cost effective and efficient manner; utilize food items and equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
• Obtain approval from supervisor on all food substitutions.
• Maintain meal count and documentation records in accordance with standards as required. Monitor for overproduction and recommend effective and appropriate utilization of leftovers.
• Maintain food inventories and complete requisition forms.

• High School diploma or GED
• Completes and meets required training and certification requirements of Buckner and governing authorities; e.g. food handlers certificate.
• Requires knowledge of food preparation, ingredients, recipes, and equipment used for dining facilities serving a minimum of 25 individuals.
• Requires knowledge of and ability to learn food serving, cleanliness and sanitation requirements.
• Requires ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
• Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English; ability to understand business documents which are written in English.

The Role…

At Soho House, the Prep Cook I perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and take on culinary tasks as they arise. To be successful as a Prep Cook 1, you should understand and be willing to comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, be quick and diligent, and willing to improve on the job. You should be able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment, and hopefully enjoy the stability of performing repetitive motions!

Main Duties

• Following prep lists created by chefs.
• Measuring ingredients and seasonings and preparing cooking ingredients such as soup stock to be used in the cooking process.
• Uniformly chopping produce and preparing meats.
• Preparing simple dishes, such as entrees or salads.
• Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
• Setting up all condiments
• Making sure all prep stations are full and ready for service – and fully operational during service.
• Making sure the bread warmer is always organized and full.
• Completing assigned side work before and after service.
• Help the porters with trash removal.
• Helping with expediting food orders for kitchen and servers.
• Make sure the prep and pass area is always tidy – clean and organized
• Prepping for service as needed by Chefs and Management
• Completing all checklists to standard.
• Work as a team, helping others as needed.
• Working closely with Kitchen.
• Properly stocking work areas.
• Maintaining clean work areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Kitchen or Food and Beverage supervisor/manager.

Required Skills/Qualifications

• 2+ years experience.
• Basic verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Detail oriented.
• Demonstrated knife skills and understanding of kitchen environments.
• Flexible schedule.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
• Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
• Fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the club to others.
• Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
• Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.

You’ll plan nutrition-led menus, shop for quality ingredients, cook, batch where it makes sense, and leave the kitchen tidy. You’ll coordinate with our nutrition team when needed, and you’ll have direct feedback from the client so you can dial things in fast.

About Biospan. We place chefs into private households to deliver real, whole-food cooking with clear nutrition intent. Our clients include busy families, founders, and performance-minded professionals. We focus on simple, organic ingredients, smart prep systems, and consistent execution. When a client has a health goal or dietary protocol, we translate it into practical menus without fuss.

How we work. We keep menus seasonal and straightforward, and balance flavour with function. We’re big on mise en place, safe batch prep, and efficient use of time. Chefs log dishes, portions, and any notes (preferences, allergies, wins, misses) so the next cook day is faster and better. When useful, you’ll get light input from our nutritionists — macros, swaps, or protocol tweaks — but you still own the cooking.

What you’ll do. You’ll plan and cook meals tailored to the household, manage shopping and inventory, portion and label for the week, and keep the kitchen clean and organised. You’ll adapt to preferences, accommodate allergies or intolerances, and update a simple log so we can measure what works. You’ll communicate clearly with the client (and us) so expectations stay aligned.

Schedule and location. You’ll work 1 days per week for roughly. Each day is a Full day. You will work at the clients home. The client’s is based in Houston.

Pay: USD 700 for a Full day. Groceries are reimbursed.
