The Role: We are looking for a customer-centric Senior Technical Account Manager (TAM) with a direct focus on our largest enterprise customers. The TAM is a technical professional who helps optimize Aiven’s customer experience and accelerate time-to-value when using Aiven’s Open Source services. You will act as a single point of contact and customer advocate, providing direct access into Aiven business functions such as Support, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and Executive Staff.

What You'll Do:

• Build Relationships: Help customers succeed by building successful relationships throughout the entire customer journey.
• Technical Strategy: Develop a deep technical understanding of the customer’s business priorities, operational models, cloud architecture, and technical initiatives.
• Operational Advisory: Maintain awareness of customer operations to assist with operational planning and risk management, acting as an advisor for deployments.
• Cross-Functional Advocacy: Act as a conduit into Aiven’s Sales, Support, Engineering, and Product Management teams to represent customer interests.
• Operational Reviews: Conduct regular reviews on incidents, field advisories, security vulnerabilities, and root-cause analysis.
• Sales Collaboration: Participate in sales account planning and support account penetration and pipeline growth strategies.
• Travel: Travel up to 10% of the time to meet with customers.

What We're Looking For:

• Technical Expertise: A deep conceptual and hands-on understanding of Apache Kafka and at least one of the following: PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or OpenSearch.
• Consulting Background: Proven experience in technology sales, pre-sales, or technical consulting.
• Development Skills: Fluency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Ruby.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Knowledge of public clouds (AWS, Google, or Azure) and experience with Linux operating systems, networking basics (DNS, VPC), and relational databases.
• Communication: Excellent presentation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to articulate technical requirements to both customers and internal Product teams.
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, determine urgency, and execute detailed action plans.
• Nice to Have: Previous experience in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and migration experience (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL).

We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join team Aqueduct, a team building our data platform for powering large-scale cross-platform advertising. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who has experience in designing, implementing and managing data platforms and pipelines that are scalable, reliable and efficient.

For our customers, ensuring their data is available and composable can:

• unlock the potential of creative automation with image and video templates
• power agentic workflows that utilise the data
• allow analysis of the relationship between product data and ad performance.

Being able to sync our customers’ product data across multiple advertising channels consistently and with minimal delays ensures that:

• the ads consumers see have the latest information
• products that are out of stock are not advertised
• regulatory requirements are met

The team currently has a backend written in Ruby on Rails, and we own small parts of the frontend written in TypeScript and React. We’re moving our data systems from Ruby to a language and architecture better suited for the workload and capable of scaling with our growth. We're looking for an expert to lead the build and design of this new platform using the right tools for the job.

Projects you get to work with

• Design and build a large scale data storage and processing system that needs to process billions of records per day
• Drive the long term architecture and engineering excellence inside the team by coaching and mentoring other engineers
• Collaborate with stakeholders from across the organization: engineering, product and business
• Define and monitor SLAs, and follow SRE best practices to ensure the stability and availability of the system
• Build APIs for internal and external consumers of the data
• Affect the ROI for billions of dollars in ad spend

What We Are Looking For

• 8+ years of industry experience
• Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Scala and/or Java)
• Deep experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, ClickHouse)
• Familiarity with streaming systems (e.g Kafka, Kinesis)
• Expertise in SQL and some RDBMS (PostgreSQL, Citus, etc.)
• Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Argo)
• Experience with data governance tools (e.g., OpenMetadata, GreatExpectations, Apache Atlas, dbt)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Proven track record of designing large-scale data systems
• Experience in technical leadership and mentoring other engineers
• Experience with Ruby on Rails is considered a plus
• Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from our Helsinki office 3 days a week

This role sits at the core of Smartly’s data platform, powering the reporting systems that some of the world’s largest and most influential brands rely on to make real time decisions. 

You’ll join the Bobby Tables team, which is responsible for ingesting, transforming, and serving tens of billions of data points across global advertising channels. This is the engine behind Smartly’s reporting and cross-channel analytics, turning fragmented, high volume data into a unified, real time, and highly flexible analytical experience.

You’ll design and optimize systems that execute complex queries over massive datasets with low latency, while ensuring reliability and consistency across a constantly evolving ecosystem of advertising channels and 3rd-party integrations. The work involves pushing the limits of distributed data processing, and enabling customers to explore their performance analytics with speed and precision.

Your contributions will directly shape how global brands understand, measure, and act on their advertising performance in real time, at a massive scale.

What You Will Do

• Design and build systems that support high-scale reporting and analytics workloads
• Improve OLAP performance and optimize data access patterns across large datasets
• Develop solutions that unify data from multiple external ad channels with varying structures
• Own projects from definition through delivery, ensuring high quality and reliability
• Work with technologies such as Ruby, TypeScript, Kafka, and modern data storage systems (PostgreSQL/Citus, Clickhouse, Redis)
• Mentor engineers and support the team in maintaining a high engineering standard

What We Are Looking For

• Strong experience building and operating data-intensive and high-scale systems
• Experience working with OLAP workloads and query performance optimization
• Must have strong experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MySQL etc.), experience with ClickHouse or other columnar databases is a plus
• Ability to design systems that handle varying data structures and integrations
• Comfortable working across the stack when needed
• Ability to take ownership of complex problems and drive them to practical solutions
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others
