We are seeking an R&D Engineer to support the deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of an advanced automated laboratory platform. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable execution of complex workflows through the integration of robotics, instrumentation, and control systems.
You will play a key role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that enables scalable and efficient experimental operations.
The Chicago, IL base pay range for a new hire in this role is $130,000 - $138,550. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process.
This position may be eligible to participate in our discretionary annual performance bonus program. Bonus eligibility and targets are determined in accordance with our total rewards philosophy and may vary by role.

As an Account Executive - Emerging Accounts, you will work closely with some of the most exciting companies in the world to help them bring amazing products to market. You will work on identifying and developing prototyping opportunities and production-class manufacturing programs that allow our customers to develop, launch, and deliver products to market at speeds never before thought possible. Your proven leadership skills will be essential to coordinating the efforts of a highly capable Fictiv team and platform that supports you at every opportunity. You will deliver sales presentations and organize on-site meetings such as Sales meetings, quarterly business reviews, tech days, and other face-to-face meetings to build relationships and account know-how that help you manage and grow customer lifetime value. You will develop relationships at every level in an organization, from mechanical engineers to supply chain managers to C-level executives, to build trust and confidence in Fictiv as the “go-to” for all custom manufacturing needs. To enable these motions, you will eagerly engage in sales enablement and training activities to a) learn how to navigate Fictiv and do your job, b) learn our differentiated catalog offerings, and c) continue to learn and enhance your sales capabilities, including how to discover and understand customers more deeply. All of this aims to grow our wallet and mindshare within qualified accounts and hit our business targets.

Location: Hybrid (US only) + 60–80% travel to jobsites nationwide. In practice, this probably looks like 1-2 days traveling each week or bi-weekly throughout the year, but travel cadence may vary. Depending on location, you may also be expected to spend time in client offices more often.

This role is paid hourly with a posted range of $38–$46 per hour. Based on the nature of field service work - which consistently runs approximately 50+ hours per week including travel, site activity, and documentation - total annualized earnings typically range from $109,000 - $132,000, depending on experience, hourly rate, and actual hours worked. Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable federal and state law for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

This role is paid hourly with a posted range of $38–$46 per hour. Based on the nature of field service work - which consistently runs approximately 50+ hours per week including travel, site activity, and documentation - total annualized earnings typically range from $109,000 - $132,000, depending on experience, hourly rate, and actual hours worked. Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable federal and state law for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

About the team:
The Automation Engineering Team is responsible for delivering robotics-driven automation deployments across a wide range of customer applications. The team partners cross-functionally to translate customer requirements into deployed systems, ensuring solutions are integrated, commissioned, and validated to perform reliably in real manufacturing environments. We partner with large design-build companies (~$10B revenue) that employ thousands of project engineers and project managers running complex jobsites across the country. Human Agency is building custom AI tools and strategies to make those teams dramatically more effective. The missing piece is someone who lives in the field, understands how construction actually works, and can connect the dots between emerging technology and real jobsite needs.
That’s this role. You’ll travel to active jobsites, shadow project teams, and develop a deep, current picture of how work gets done, where it breaks down, and where technology can genuinely help. You’ll be the person who’s wildly up to speed on everything happening in construction technology — from autonomous equipment to AI-assisted estimating to reality capture — and can evaluate where each piece might actually fit in the real workflows you’re observing.
You carry two mandates. Enablement: helping field teams understand and leverage AI tools to work better, faster, and smarter. Intelligence: capturing expert knowledge from the people who actually build things, understanding the technology landscape with depth and nuance, and feeding those insights directly into Human Agency’s venture studio and product roadmap. Your perspective shapes what we build, who we invest in, and how we think about making our design-build partners great.

Introduction:
We are seeking an energetic, self-starter to join our Field Service team. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of robotic systems to install, troubleshoot, and support machine functionality both in the office and at distributed locations across the US. This person must be a curious self-starter with strong engineering and communication skills, both verbal and written.

About the role:
As a Summer Intern at Formic, you will support robotics deployments and operational execution while gaining hands-on exposure to real-world automation systems. You will work across both technical and non-technical workstreams, supporting coordination, documentation, and process improvement while learning how robotic systems are built, tested, installed, and supported in live manufacturing environments.
This internship is ideal for someone who is highly organized, curious, and excited to learn how a robotics company operates at scale.
