About your Team:
Interactive Brokers seeks an individual to join our Technical Operations (TOPS) team in Chicago, IL. To offer the finest online trading experience in the world, Interactive Brokers' TOPS team monitors and provides global operational support for our applications, systems, and other critical business technology 24/7/365.
What will be your responsibilities within IBKR:
- Monitor the health of applications, networks, and systems underpinning the Interactive Brokers global brokerage system.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, escalate and resolve brokerage system operational issues.
- Participate in Post-Incident review in collaboration with Software Development, customer service and infrastructure teams.
- Provide internal 2nd-level technical support to various teams.
- Monitor batch scheduled jobs while troubleshooting and escalating any delays or failures.
- Analyze existing business workflows and participate in developing new process monitoring tools.
- Act as the primary escalation point for all brokerage system technical issues.
- Investigate and triage real time trade issues with internal and external parties.
What required skill’s you need:
- Strong communication skills, and must be fluent in English.
- A Bachelor's in a financial or a technical discipline.
- A working knowledge of general computing and networking concepts.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems.
- The ability to analyze and solve problems promptly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work weekends and day/ night shifts.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of the securities and commodities markets.
- Prior experience in retail or institutional trade support.
- Previous experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Perl, Python)
- Desire to explore and learn new concepts, systems and technologies.

This role's anticipated base salary range is USD 65,000 to USD 75,000 annually based on skill's and experience. The offered salary is just part of the total compensation package. Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a Junior Electronic Trading Support Engineer to join our global Trade Operations (TradeOps) team in NYC. This team is responsible for managing HRT’s live trading environment, one of the most robust and efficient electronic trading platforms in the world. This includes configuring, monitoring, and optimizing the firm’s trading as well as handling risk, regulatory, and development tasks. The TradeOps team focuses on both automating common tasks and preparing for the unexpected. Your day could consist of debugging to get a process running in time for the market open, making a difficult on-the-spot decision that balances compliance, risk, and PnL during trading hours, or coordinating the technical rollout of a new trading strategy.
Being a member of TradeOps at HRT means working on a tight-knit, highly productive team. We're looking for someone who loves technology and wants to work on a broad range of projects using whatever tool(s) best solve the problem at hand. You’ll act as the first line of defense when the inevitable happens, and the subject matter expert on recent changes to the production trading platform. The team’s scope covers everything from systems infrastructure, to compliance, risk management, overnight clearing, and performance improvement.
Responsibilities

- Handle order flow from HRT’s trading desks
- Respond to external market alerts and outages
- Interface with exchanges & other external parties to support trading
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (CS, Engineering, Physics, Math, etc.)
- Working knowledge of UNIX systems
- Experience with a scripting language (Python, Perl, Bash)
- Excellent communication skills and enjoy interfacing with clients, both internal and external
- Incredibly organized, with a high attention to detail
- Excited to work independently in a very fast-paced, high pressure environment
- Poses an understanding of Market Data/Order Entry systems and/or an interest in how modern electronic markets work
- Industry experience and/or Series 7 or 57 certification is preferred if applicable, but not required - recent graduates with relevant knowledge can be considered
The estimated base salary range for this position is 100,000 to 150,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.

What will you be doing?
- Develop and maintain monitoring and deployment systems (Systems and Network)
- Triage and respond to issues
- Prepare and execute changes to the Linux environment
- Maintain and deploy servers and workstations
- Projects will be completed both independently and as a part of a team, when necessary
- This is an in-office position, with occasional onsite work at several colocation facilities in Chicago, Aurora, and New Jersey
- Infrequent evening/weekend work to allow for change execution outside of trading hours

Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a System Administrator, Linux Administrator, or similar
- Thorough understanding of Linux (kernel, modules, filesystems) with special emphasis on the network stack, especially multicast, and OpenOnload
- Experience working with Linux and standard tools (bash, grep, sed, awk) and scripting languages (Python, Perl, bash)
- Understanding of Linux concepts (kernel, modules, memory allocation, filesystems)
- Familiarity with common server technologies (IPMI, SNMP), or software (Nagios, Ansible, dnf/rpm, git)
- Experience troubleshooting complex performance issues
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (40-50 lb regularly)
Annual base salary ranges from $125,000 to $200,000, and is influenced by a number of factors, including qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, of which can be a significant portion of total compensation. This full time role is also eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits including health/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) contributions.

The Engineering Support team provides tier 3/4 production support encompassing large number of highly scalable services and is also responsible for providing multifaceted services to software product development teams and supporting production Deployment and Operations teams for software product release coordination and deployment. - 5+ years overall development/technical support experience (less with Master’s Degree in technology)
- Experience in Perl or equivalent programming/scripting language
- Knowledge of Java based technologies
- Understanding of XML/SOAP, web services, workflow modeling, web application development, and industry-standard commerce systems
- Ability to write intermediate/advanced level database queries
- Experience with networking (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL, DHCP, Load Balancing), web services (SOAP, XML), systems administration (Unix/Linux), highly scalable/available Service Oriented Architectures, understanding of monitoring and metrics.
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues.
- Demonstrated skill and passion for operational excellence.
- Experience in a 24/7 production environment is a plus.
- Ability to retain composure under stressful conditions, communicates effectively with a wide array of individuals and gets the right things done.
