The Engineering Architect Team

The Architecture team is a small group of very senior engineers reporting to our VP of Engineering Excellence, working broadly across the organization in collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Security.  We partner deeply with other Engineering teams for large projects, and provide direction and architectural guidance for smaller initiatives.  We have a dual-pronged charter to “level up the tech stack and level up the people stack” via both technical contributions and partnerships/mentoring.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to Auth0’s future technology direction.  Through your experience, knowledge of industry trends, and technical abilities you will provide guidance, build proof of concepts, and deliver production software implementations that help Auth0 Engineering teams move faster by using and developing standard patterns and technologies. You will also help advance the engineering culture and help uplevel other engineers. Note that while this role involves a lot of guidance, documentation, and leadership, it also requires substantial hands-on coding and development of both applications and systems.

What you’ll be doing

• You will collaborate with Product, Security, and Engineering teams to define and continually improve Auth0’s technology stack and architecture.
• Foster and lead innovation in the IAM space, with a strong focus on Agentic Identity
• Lead initiatives to enhance, scale, and evolve Auth0’s product offerings.
• Embed within Engineering teams across the organization for large projects, while providing guidance and lighter touch engagements for smaller initiatives.
• Design, architect, and document large scale distributed systems.
• Lead the development of complex, broadly-scoped functionality in a very large and deep set of services and components.
• Teach by doing: coding, optimizing, and troubleshooting Node.js and Go applications in collaboration with feature development teams.
• Implement features and create consistent foundations using technologies such as AWS, Azure, Node.js, Go, MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes.
• Investigate, understand, and resolve bottlenecks in our ability to scale, use resources efficiently, and maintain a 99.99% uptime SLA.
• Drive technical decision making while striving to find the right balance between factors such as simplicity, flexibility, reliability, cost, and performance.
• Participate in “round table” discussions and mentor team members and engineers throughout the organization to level up our people.
• Participate in our Engineering Leadership Team with other architects, directors, and executives.
• You will join our Incident Commander on-call rotation. Members of our team do periodic on-call rotation for high-severity incidents to help up-level our responses After spending time getting acquainted with our applications, systems, and processes, and getting training to 

What you’ll bring to the role

• Passion and thorough understanding of what it takes to build and operate secure, reliable systems at scale.
• Knowledge of Identity Protocols such as OAuth, OIDC and SAML.
• Industry knowledge of the Authorization and Authentication spaces.
• Experience in building AI Agents, and/or MCP servers applications. 
• Experience with security engineering and application security.
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to adjust your communication style to the intended audience, whether communicating with senior executives, customers, engineers, or product managers.
• Mastery and deep understanding of hands-on software development building distributed systems.
• Experience with API-first applications using REST and/or gRPC.
• Experience with multi-cloud environments and container deployments, particularly Kubernetes in AWS/Azure.
• Prior experience with application performance management, tracing, and performance testing tools.
• Excellence at creating clarity and alignment for technical initiatives. 
• Great ability to build trust through collaboration with multiple teams and get consensus on a vision.
• Knowledge of application security and cloud security best practices.
• 10+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of experience working on cloud applications.

The Internal Identity & Access Management (I2AM) team is responsible for critical production infrastructure that provides a foundational notion of Identity and strong authentication and authorization controls across Pinterest. Our backend is primarily written in Golang, Python with some C++ while our frontend tools are written in React and TypeScript. We’re looking for a software engineer who will help us build robust tooling to define and evaluate access controls across production infrastructure. A security background is not necessary but ideal candidates will have familiarity with the problems or related spaces, such as Infrastructure or Identity.

What you’ll do:

• Contribute to the technical roadmap for identity and authorization controls for users, services and AI Agents.
• Design, implement, and maintain mission-critical features that will help us deliver robust IAM infrastructure and libraries to our customers.
• Leverage Agentic AI to improve systems and least privilege, while applying judgment and verification to ensure correctness and quality. Improve code quality and system performance using AI Coding Agents.
• As member of the Infrastructure Security team, build performant and resilient AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Auditing) platform controls into various high-traffic services including our AI Agents, online/offline data platforms, databases, service mesh. (Envoy) and other critical infrastructure components.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Experienced in developing features end to end, with preferred experience developing them in distributed systems.
• Experience with critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work (e.g., testing, source-checking, data validation, peer review).
• Demonstrated ability to prototype and use AI tooling to improve reliability and quality of day-to-day workflow and system performance.
• High integrity and ownership: you protect sensitive data, avoid over-reliance on AI, and remain accountable for final decisions and deliverables.
• Experience in some of the following areas is a strong plus:
• Identity, Account Security, Authentication/Authorization (OAuth, SAML, RBAC) protocols
• AWS or other public cloud infrastructure, containerization such as Kubernetes 
• Infrastructure provisioning tools (Terraform, Puppet, etc.)
• Familiarity with networking protocols (Application layer)

We are looking for an HPC Data Center Production Engineer to build and own the automation and tooling that powers Jump's HPC data center operations. This is a development-heavy role focused on automating the onboarding and lifecycle management of data center hardware—servers, switches, rack PDUs, CDUs, and environmental sensors—and building tools for capacity planning, outage simulation, monitoring, and metrics integration. You will work hand-in-hand with the HPC Planning, Engineering, and Operations leads to turn tooling and monitoring vision into production-ready systems. Heavy, daily use of AI tools is expected to accelerate development and raise the quality bar on everything you build.
What You'll Do:
Hardware Onboarding Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain automation to onboard new hardware devices into Jump's HPC data centers, including servers, network switches, rack PDUs, CDUs, and environmental sensors.

• Build end-to-end provisioning workflows that take hardware from racked-and-cabled through discovery, configuration, validation, and production-ready state with minimal manual intervention.

• Extend and adapt onboarding automation as new hardware platforms and device types are introduced.
  Data Center Tooling Development

• Develop tools for power and cooling capacity planning—enabling the operations and planning teams to model current utilization, forecast growth, and identify constraints before they become problems.

• Build outage simulation tooling to model the impact of power, cooling, or network failures across HPC facilities and validate redundancy/failover configurations.

• Develop and maintain operational tooling that supports day-to-day data center workflows such as hardware lifecycle tracking, data center inventory/spares, change management, and diagnostics.
  Monitoring & Metrics Integration

• Build and maintain monitoring integrations for HPC data center infrastructure—pulling telemetry from servers, switches, PDUs, CDUs, environmental sensors, and facility systems into centralized observability platforms.

• Integrate metrics feeds from colocation and data center providers into Jump's monitoring stack, normalizing data for alerting and capacity reporting.

• Work with the Operations Lead to implement the monitoring and alerting strategy, translating requirements into deployed, production-grade instrumentation.
  Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work very closely with the HPC Planning, Engineering, and Operations leads to understand tooling and monitoring needs and bring their vision to fruition.

• Partner with HPC Engineering on integration points between data center automation and compute/storage/network provisioning systems.

• Translate operational pain points and manual processes into automated, maintainable solutions.
  Systems Maintenance & Reliability

• Own the reliability and lifecycle of all systems and tools you develop—monitor for failures, respond to issues, and iterate based on operational feedback.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for all tooling, automation workflows, and integrations.

• Participate in large, coordinated maintenance operations, including during evenings and weekends.
  AI-Driven Development

• Use AI tools daily across all aspects of the role: writing and reviewing code, analyzing data, debugging, generating documentation, and accelerating development velocity.

• Identify opportunities to apply AI to data center operations problems—anomaly detection, predictive capacity planning, intelligent alerting, and beyond.

  Skills You'll Need:

• 5+ years of professional experience in production engineering, infrastructure automation, or site reliability engineering, preferably in HPC or large-scale data center environments.

• Proven track record of building and shipping production automation and tooling—not just scripts, but maintained, reliable systems.

• Experience automating hardware provisioning and lifecycle management (servers, network devices, power/cooling infrastructure).

• Strong understanding of data center infrastructure: power distribution, cooling systems (air and liquid), environmental monitoring, and structured cabling.

• Experience integrating with hardware management interfaces (IPMI/BMC/Redfish, SNMP, vendor APIs) for discovery, configuration, and telemetry collection.

• Demonstrates a high level of energy, results driven, and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  Technical Skills:

• High proficiency in Golang and at least one additional language (e.g., Python). You will write a lot of code in this role.

• Strong Linux systems knowledge—you should live in Linux. Proficient with system administration, networking, storage, process management, log analysis, and troubleshooting at the OS level.

• Experience with Grafana for building dashboards, alerting, and visualization of infrastructure metrics. Experience with Prometheus, InfluxDB, or similar observability platforms and building custom integrations/exporters.

• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools (SaltStack, Ansible, Terraform, or similar).

• Solid understanding of networking concepts: L2/L3 protocols, VLANs, BGP, SNMP, and switch/router configuration (Arista, Cisco).

• Experience with APIs and data integration—consuming vendor APIs, normalizing heterogeneous data sources, building data pipelines for metrics and reporting.

• Experience with ClickHouse and MySQL—writing queries, designing schemas, and building tooling that reads from and writes to these databases.

• Experience with GitHub for version control, code review, CI/CD workflows, and collaborative development.

• Demonstrated heavy use of AI tools (e.g., LLM-based coding assistants, AI-driven analytics) in a professional setting. You should already be using AI daily and be eager to push its application further.

• A compulsion to perform root cause analysis.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across a global engineering team.
