Anduril’s Air Defense team builds autonomous robots that find other robots and knock them out of the sky. At a time when air superiority can no longer be taken for granted, we provide critical force protection capabilities to support the warfighter. As the Software Product Manager for our Simulation Trainer, you will have an immediate impact on real-world operations by building the core simulation experience that allows us to rapidly iterate, test and train capabilities that close the kill chain against a broad range of UAS threats.

• Articulate a clear product vision and own the technical strategy for our simulation product, from core infrastructure like synthetic environments and scenario authoring tools to the end-user experience.
• Serve as the voice of the user by embedding with operators, gathering requirements from teams across all programs, and translating their collective needs into a unified and prioritized product roadmap This includes direct engagement with military operators in the field to understand training workflows, proficiency requirements, and operational pain points.
• Listen to the developer community to understand pain points on the Lattice platform, diagnose how they reflect product deficiencies, and assess their impact on the end-user simulation experience.
• Decompose ambiguous, complex problems into concrete technical plans, working hands-on with engineering to scope features, plan sprints, and drive execution through the entire product lifecycle.
• Build consensus and align diverse stakeholders around a shared technical direction, effectively communicating business context to engineering teams and translating complex technical details for non-technical partners. Navigate the unique requirements of military customers, security constraints, and rapid deployment timelines.
• Partner with business development, marketing, and proposal teams to provide compelling external storytelling, communicate product capabilities, and participate in large-scale customer demonstrations.
• Lead the hands-on delivery of new simulation capabilities, establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and inform future product strategy.
• Own the "leave-behind" capability strategy that enables operators to maintain proficiency between formal training sessions.
• Actively help define and drive product team culture, developing relationships that bridge the business and technical worlds and establishing best practices for product development at Anduril.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years working in product development for complex software systems (robotics, simulation, training systems, or mission-critical defense applications), with at least 3 years specifically in a hands-on product management capacity.
• Robust technical aptitude — able to understand technical designs, software development lifecycle, architectural tradeoffs, and risks; effective working shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering teams.
• Comfortable with concepts like kinematic modeling, sensor physics, and real-time distributed systems.
• Demonstrated success decomposing complex problems into addressable component parts.
• Proven ability to motivate cross-functional teams and work with internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of technical comfort.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Background in defense, aerospace, or autonomous systems through industry or education.
• Experience with Software-in-the-Loop (SiTL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiTL), or other complex hardware/software integration testing.
• Knowledge of modern game engines (Unity, Unreal) or physics simulation frameworks.
• Familiarity with LVC architectures, HLA/DIS standards, or other distributed simulation systems.
• Experience with scenario authoring tools, training curriculum development, or instructional system design.
• Familiarity with DoD training standards, certification requirements, or after-action review (AAR) methodologies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience managing and leading a team of 5+ engineers, with responsibility for hiring and performance management
• 10+ years of professional programming experience, with deep expertise in C++ and modern software engineering principles
• Shipped at least one AAA game title or equivalent real-time simulation product in a senior or lead engineering capacity
• Experience owning the technical side of a product roadmap, working closely with Product and Design to translate vision into an executable plan
• A track record of architecting and delivering solutions to complex, open-ended technical challenges in large codebases
• Solid understanding of 3D math and real-time rendering concepts

ABOUT THE TEAM 

The Simulation Platform team owns the core architecture and infrastructure of Anduril's high-fidelity, multi-domain military mission simulator. It models hundreds of entities--aircraft, ships, submarines, satellites, ground vehicles--moving, sensing, communicating, and engaging across realistic physical environments. The simulator powers training, mission planning, autonomy development, and hardware-in-the-loop testing across Anduril's product portfolio. It connects to live systems, integrates with Anduril's Lattice platform, and runs inside a GUI for interactive scenario authoring.  Mission Sim is a large, mature C++20 codebase with an Entity-Component-System architecture, a stable C ABI plugin system, embedded scripting, and a variety of physics-based models. Keeping this system fast, correct, extensible, and pleasant to develop against at scale, with a growing team of model developers is our job.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Platform work is leverage. Every API you design, every millisecond you shave off the frame loop, every rough edge you smooth in the developer experience — it multiplies across every model, every scenario, and every engineer which builds atop Anduril’s mission simulator. You'll work on a genuinely complex system (real-time, multi-domain, deterministic, plugin-extensible) where architectural decisions have concrete, measurable consequences and correctness matters. The simulator is how Anduril tests autonomy before it touches hardware, how operators train on mission scenarios, and how engineers validate that sensors and platforms behave as expected.  This platform is what makes that possible at scale.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Performance and scale — keep the simulation loop fast enough for real-time and faster-than-real-time execution with hundreds of concurrent entities; reasoning about memory layout, cache behavior, and contention as entity counts grow
• Custom Entity-Component-System architecture that underpins the entire simulator: entity lifecycle, component storage, system registration, and the update loop
• Plugin and SDK development: maintain a versioned C ABI, enabling external teams to extend the simulator
• Integration architecture: gRPC services, DIS protocol interoperability, networking messaging, and file recording for playback
• Support domain experts in integrating new and enhancing existing capability models

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3 years of professional experience with C++20 and strong C++ skills; you should be comfortable with templates, move semantics, smart pointers, and the kinds of design decisions that show up in framework code
• Experience designing internal APIs and frameworks that other engineers build on — you care about backwards-compatibility, ergonomics, not just correctness
• Solid understanding of systems programming fundamentals: memory management, shared libraries, ABI stability, linking, and platform-level concerns
• Comfort with linear algebra and applied math
• Familiarity with Linux based C++ development toolchains
• Ability to reason about performance-sensitive code--cache behavior, memory layout, algorithmic complexity
• Clear technical communication and ability to work in a large, shared codebase with architectural decision making that impacts a growing team

What You Bring:

• CFM, PMP, LEED or other pertinent industry certifications are an asset.
• Ability to operated with a high level of autonomy and within an environment with a high level of ambiguity.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $161,300 and $238,700 per year. The base salary range for this role is $174,800 - $221,817. Depending on your experience and level (whether you’re closer to mid-level or principal), your offer may land above or below that range.
