As a Lead Lab Support Engineer at Graphcore, you will serve as the technical lead providing IT support to Engineering Labs and Silicon development projects. Job Summary

As a member of the drivers and utilities team you will contribute to the planning, design, implementation and testing of low level kernel drivers and user space driver library code. You will be part of one of the two teams in the system software department (the firmware team being the other one) and report to the drivers and utilities team manager.  

The Team

The drivers and utilities team forms part of the system software group – working closely with both software engineers developing our Poplar SDK and with silicon and hardware engineers developing Graphcore’s IPU solution. The drivers and utilities team develop custom control software on the host in kernel and user space. • Design, implement, test and document OS Kernel and Device Driver software at the highest standard using C/C++/Python programming languages

Job Summary

As a System Software Engineer in Test, You will be responsible for design, development, execution and reporting of test and test harness to verify and validate firmware. 

You will be involved with the development team from the early phases to the final production software and ensure maximum coverage of functionality.

We are looking for a high-quality Test Development Engineer to complement our existing team. You will be working closely with the hardware and software development teams to develop and maintain test systems in support of preproduction test solutions.  You will report to the Hardware test team lead, the test team is embedded within the Hardware team.  We want people who work collaboratively and proactively within our teams. The Team

The Hardware test team are part of a larger Hardware team that consists of Signal Integrity (SI), Mechanical, layout, package and Hardware engineers. The Hardware team is responsible for delivering state of the art accelerators for machine learning and collaborates with the Silicon, Firmware and Production teams during product development.

Responsibilities and Duties 

A successful candidate will work within Hardware Engineering Team to define test methods, specify suitable test equipment and automate test systems. The team is currently responsible for testing, debugging and characterising high speed serial links, power supplies that can deliver high current and adapt to fast transients. We also debug and characteratize slower speed protocols like JTAG , I2C I3C and low level PCBA debug. 

Developing a deep understanding of Graphcore hardware and software products and how to operate them in a test environment is essential for this position.

You will be expected to understand relevant industry performance test standards, data analysis and presentation systems. Contributions are expected to span multiple areas and involve:

• Manual testing and debug of complex high speed SERDES which include PCIe Gen 6 and 112/224Gb PAM4 ethernet. This will require the use of high bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs and VNA’s, and the ability to understand complex IEEE standards.
• Designing and developing graphical user interfaces for controlling our products in a test environment. 
• development of test systems for Graphcore’s Machine Learning Accelerator products at a system and board level
• transfer of preproduction test system knowledge to the production test team.

Reporting to the Firmware Manager, the Graduate Firmware Engineer will contribute to the design, development and delivery of the firmware that powers our next generation products. They are expected to take part in technical discussions across multiple teams within Graphcore and our partners.

The Team

The firmware team writes the software that ensures the full and complete bootup of Graphcore Hardware and Silicon. We design and maintain interfaces to allow our Drivers software to interact with Graphcore Silicon. We are looking for a Graduate Software Engineer to join a team pioneering the development of high-performance machine learning (ML) kernels for a new generation of AI hardware. 

In this role, you will contribute to building optimised compute kernels that support a wide range of ML operators—powering applications from convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to large language models (LLMs).

As a hardware development engineer you will analyse system requirements and design circuit solutions, in collaboration with Graphcore’s Silicon, Architecture and Software Teams. You will generate schematics and PCB layout constraints and work closely with the PCB CAD team to realise the designs. You will define test and validation plans, run test campaigns, report results, work closely with the firmware and system architecture teams to interpret results, debug and improve performance.  

You will be expert in microprocessor system design and debug, with a deep understanding of processor power supply, reset & clocking requirements, memory, communications and control interfaces. 

The Team 

Graphcore’s Hardware Engineering Team creates both products for sale in volume production and hardware test & validation systems based on Graphcore’s IPU processor. These systems allow Graphcore’s customers to develop leading-edge machine-learning solutions for training and inference. 

What you’ll be doing 

Development of production systems and test boards for Graphcore’s family of processors which includes: 

• Circuit design, requirements analysis, functional definition, and component selection 

• PCB Layout constraint definition, and support of PCB CAD layout team 

• Circuit validation and verification 

• Design and running of tests to validate circuit performance and margin 

• Debugging and optimisation, in collaboration with the firmware team, of the correct system performance of microcontroller hardware control code 

• Prototype production support, prototype bringup, evaluation & system test, prototype validation.

The Team

Responsibilities and Duties 

• Own the dbt transformation layer, building, maintaining and evolving data models that support reliable self-service analytics across Graphcore.

Job Summary  

Reporting to a Team Lead in the frameworks team you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, optimising, maintaining and supporting the software required to ensure the machine learning accelerators that Graphcore develop, enjoy first-class support in state-of-the-art machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and Triton.  

This role sees you joining our PyTorch team, where you will be part of a SCRUM team working on delivering new features, optimise performance, reviewing code changes, writing technical documentation, working with upstream communities, maintaining the code base and supporting users.  

In this role you will closely collaborate with other engineers, both within the PyTorch team as well as other engineering teams. You help the team coordinate and deliver complex, open-ended technical tasks. You are pro-active and an excellent communicator. What you’ll be doing  

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Component Engineer to join our Manufacturing Operations team in the UK. Job Summary  

Reporting to a Team Lead in the frameworks team you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, optimising, maintaining and supporting the software required to ensure the machine learning accelerators that Graphcore develop enjoy first-class support in state-of-the-art machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and Triton (note: “Triton” here refers to the Triton language/compiler and not the inference framework).  

This role sees you joining our Triton team, where you will be part of a SCRUM team working on delivering new features, optimise performance, reviewing code changes, writing technical documentation, working with upstream communities, maintaining the code base and supporting users.  

In this role you will closely collaborate with other engineers, both within the Triton team as well as other engineering teams. You help the team coordinate and deliver complex, open-ended technical tasks. You are pro-active and an excellent communicator. You will develop deep expertise in the Triton project and will (in time) contribute to the team’s technical direction and processes. You understand the importance of managing code quality and code complexity and balancing this against the need to deliver business outcomes.

Join our dynamic Software Infrastructure team and take a pivotal role in scaling and managing our infrastructure. You will develop essential tools and services that empower our broader software team. Your contributions will enhance the build, test, deployment, and productisation processes of our Machine Learning Software components. The Team

The Software Infrastructure team provides critical platforms and services for software development teams across the business. Our responsibilities include managing the CI platform and services, build engineering, component integration, and packaging and release systems. We operate in squads, fostering a culture of service ownership and empowerment for our engineers. We focus on long-term engineering solutions and strive to eliminate toil wherever possible. 

Responsibilities and Duties 

• Develop, own, and maintain tools and services to support the software org 

• Deploy and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure to develop, test, and scale Graphcore hardware and its software stack 

• Manage our Cloud Infrastructure using tools such as Terraform 

Candidate Profile 

Essential: 

• Practical experience developing in Go 

• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS preferred) 

• Experience managing or developing in Linux environments 

• Understanding of CI/CD principles 

• Strong experience of Kubernetes (k8s) development and deployment 

Desirable 

• Experience developing Kubernetes Controllers 

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g. Terraform/OpenTofu) 

• Experience with GitHub Actions

Job Summary

Reporting to the Firmware Manager and working as a member of the Firmware Team, the Senior Staff Firmware Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of complex firmware systems across Graphcore’s next-generation hardware platforms. 

This role requires significant technical breadth and deep embedded systems expertise. You will contribute to shaping the firmware architecture and design, guide engineering practices, and solve highly challenging problems while maintaining a strong hands-on focus. You will partner closely with hardware, drivers, silicon and platform teams to deliver robust, scalable, production-quality firmware. 

The Team

The Firmware Team develops the low-level software responsible for the complete boot, configuration, and monitoring of Graphcore silicon and hardware platforms. Our work includes: 

• Boot and power sequencing
• Low-level hardware interfaces and drivers
• Telemetry, monitoring and SMBus/BMC data exposure
• Silicon and system bring-up 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide technical leadership and act as a subject-matter expert for complex firmware features, subsystems, and architecture decisions
• Lead design and development of scalable, maintainable firmware solutions in C, contributing to long-term architecture and system strategy
• Own and deliver critical low-level functionality (e.g., boot flows, embedded real-time logic, platform security, silicon bring-up)
• Perform advanced system debugging using low-level tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analysers) and drive root-cause analysis for complex issues
• Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, silicon, platform, and external partners to define requirements and resolve integration challenges
• Ensure high standards of quality, reliability, and security through code reviews, validation improvements, CI/CD, and automated testing
• Mentor engineers and elevate team performance by promoting best practices, improving development processes, and driving continuous engineering excellence

Candidate Profile

Essential:

• Proven industry experience in embedded/firmware engineering using C/C++
• Expertise in designing and delivering real-time embedded systems and complex boot logic
• Strong understanding of modern silicon and hardware interfaces (I2C, I3C, SMBus, SPI, PCIe, DDR, power management, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex technical initiatives
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving complex, cross-layer issues
• Ability to define and communicate architectural direction at subsystem or multi-subsystem scale
• Strong communication skills and the ability to document large system designs clearly
• Experience with CI/CD systems, build tools, and modern software engineering practices 

Desirable

• Experience with server architectures or datacentre hardware
• Understanding of server/platform security concepts and their application to firmware
• Experience working directly with silicon vendors or hardware partners
• Knowledge of OS kernel, secure firmware flows, or trusted execution environments
• Experience with device driver development

Job Summary

As a member of the drivers and utilities team you will contribute to the planning, design, implementation and testing of low level kernel drivers and user space driver library code. You will be part of one of the two teams in the system software department (the firmware team being the other one) and report to the drivers and utilities team manager.  

The Team

The drivers and utilities team forms part of the system software group – working closely with both software engineers developing our Poplar SDK and with silicon and hardware engineers developing Graphcore’s IPU solution. The drivers and utilities team develop custom control software on the host in kernel and user space. Our solutions enable our customers to get maximum performance and utility for our cutting-edge products.  

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design, implement, test and document OS Kernel and Device Driver software at the highest standard using C/C++/Python programming languages
• Participate in agile development – working as part of a scrum team to develop the right software at pace
• Communicate effectively and contribute regularly to technical discussions with your peers in software and hardware engineering, with architects and other stakeholders
• Hands-on during key product development phases involving close working with hardware and silicon engineering groups to enable fast time to market delivery

Candidate Profile

Essential:

• Proven industry experience in software development using programming languages such as C/C++/Python
• OS Kernel and Device Driver development and deployment experience in Linux or Windows systems
• Good understanding of lower-level software stack and interactions with the hardware layer
• Possess effective problem-solving skills, familiar with a full suite of debug and performance analysis tools and techniques
• Experience with one or more of the following: PCIe, CPU, device drivers, SoC, firmware, and hardware/software integration
• Proactive in obtaining engineering or management input to solve issues
• Motivated to schedule own workload
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, work well within a multinational team and with multinational customers. Excellent cultural awareness is essential. 

Desirable

• Experience developing firmware or drivers for GPUs. 
• Knowledge of CUDA or OpenCL  
• Experience working on upstreaming of kernel code / contributing to Linux kernel.
• Exposure to integration with data centre / cloud service operations – for example integration with Kubernetes or open stack.

Required:

• 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed code (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or similar), and a dedication to building accessible and inclusive software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or asynchronous programming (where relevant).

• Experience with localization/globalization, right-to-left UI support, internationalization, accessibility for multiple regions.
• Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring in desktop applications.
• Previous experience in shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of feature areas or modules and drive them long-term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.
