What we’re looking for: 

Nexamp is looking to hire a Lead Commissioning Engineering to join it's Clean Energy Deployment team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Nexamp projects are safely and reliably energized on schedule, moving through project milestones, including, Mechanical Completion (MC), Permission to Operate (PTO) and Substantial Completion (SC). You will leverage deep SCADA and data acquisition expertise across utility-scale and distributed generation projects to validate that assets perform as modeled and as represented to financing partners, banks, and utilities, and to close gaps in our growing SCADA pipeline. By owning the technical review and implementation of SCADA and related controls, you will help turn projects on, maintain critical deadlines, and confirm that operational performance aligns with contractual, market, and internal performance requirements. 

We are supporting hybrid work out of either our Boston, Chicago, or NYC offices. You will report to the Director, Commissioning Engineering. 

What you’ll do:

• Independently leading the commissioning of PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) from pre-energization through project operational turnover.
• Acting as a primary troubleshooting resource for the Commissioning Engineering and Field Commissioning teams, providing expert level support on common electrical, protection, and SCADA/communications issues surfaced during commissioning and early operations.
• Managing project commissioning schedules in partnership with Deployment, SCADA, Engineering, and external contractors, ensuring that inverter, DAS, SCADA, BESS, and protection system commissioning stays aligned with construction and interconnection milestones.
• Providing remote support and occasional field support for DAS, inverter, BESS and SCADA commissioning as well as witness tests.
• Reviewing and validating site performance of assets once live, including managing or executing performance testing and identifying and troubleshooting underperformance.
• Lead Data Acquisition System (DAS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system design for PV, BESS, and hybrid PV+BESS (DC- and AC-coupled) projects, including interpreting market, utility, and ISO SCADA/telemetry and controls requirements and coordinating the procurement and installation of required telecom, hardware, and software infrastructure.
• Assist in the development of SCADA engineering standards for utility scale applications.
• Mentor and train junior commissioning team members and field technicians to increase their capabilities.
• Support continuous improvement of networking equipment, products, and quality assurance processes by conducting research, contributing to commissioning best-practices documentation, and actively sharing experience and best practices.

What you’ll bring: 

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent education/certification background.
• At least 7 years of experience designing and commissioning electrical power systems, or network design.
• At least 4 years of experience in renewables such as Solar, Wind, and Storage,
• Experience in controls engineering for utility-scale renewable/hybrid energy, PV/BESS, (AC-coupled/DC-coupled systems) preferred.
• Knowledge of inverter parameter setting procedures.
• Knowledge and experience with technical communications protocols (Modbus/TCP, DNP3.0, etc.), commonly used controls software/hardware platforms, and communication standards (MESA, Sunspec, etc.).
• Working knowledge and hands-on experience with various relays, meters, SCADA Gateways, and Data Concentrators, experience with programming of RTACs, preferred.
• Expertise in commissioning and resolving site technical issues, proven success in independently troubleshooting challenging SCADA related technical issues.
• MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency.

In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). New Leaf Energy seeks a Civil Project Engineer I. We are currently only considering internal applicants. In this role, you will work with a team of engineers, project developers, and engineering consultants to review, design, and permit prospective solar PV, wind, and energy storage projects. Our successful candidate will be relied on to balance due diligence efforts with project risks for the continued development of projects for New Leaf Energy. 

This position may be filled out of our Boston, MA, Lowell, MA, Chicago, IL, and Troy, NY, or Oakland, CA offices. We value in-person collaboration and offer a hybrid work environment. Hybrid employees work in the office at least two out of every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and are free to work from the office or home on other days. Remote candidates who meet the qualifications are also encouraged to apply; internal candidates with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Design, direct, and manage concurrent projects using either internal or external resources. Lead site review, zoning/bylaws review, and outline project entitlement path.
• Apply NLE’s Value Stream Map (VSM) to advance a project through design and entitlement.
• Assist in identifying, qualifying and onboarding surveyors and consultants for project design and entitlement. Use project scheduling, task-management, KPI, QC, and other tools to ensure standards adherence, design quality and timeliness. 
• Work with the state agencies, towns, and other stakeholders, as well as present to planning/zoning boards, state, and federal agencies.
• Assisting in the continued development of standard details, notes,  specifications and SOPs.
• Reviewing design drawings prepared by in-house or external designers.
• Prepare the civil engineering components of project bid sets that will be used for the IPP bidding process.
• Respond to bidder permitting questions and participate in due diligence calls with project bidders.

Compensation

New Leaf Energy compensates all employees in three ways: market-competitive base salary, plus above-market variable compensation, plus an equity-like program such that all employees experience the benefits of ownership.  We use a data-driven and transparent methodology to calibrate compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable, guided by the New Leaf Energy compensation manual, which is available to all employees.

Under our compensation framework, the likely base salary range for this position is $113,980 - 129,660. The on-target annual cash bonus associated with this position is an additional 10% percent of base salary. Your actual salary may be above, in, or below this range, depending on your location and experience. Our office locations in Lowell, Boston, Oakland, and Chicago all carry geography-based upward adjustments to the base pay range.

New Leaf Energy, Inc. is seeking civil/environmental engineering juniors and seniors for Intern roles on our Civil Engineering team. The Civil Engineer Intern will work with a team of engineers to assist in reviewing and designing renewable energy projects (solar PV, energy storage, wind).

We plan to hire an intern in our Lowell, MA office and one in our Boston, MA office for summer 2026, starting in early June.

We value in-person collaboration and offer a hybrid work environment. Interns will work in-office weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Primary duties will include but not limited to assisting in:

• Site due diligence and research of bylaws;
• Creation of plan sets (CAD);
• Site civil and stormwater design;
• Permit applications;
• General project support tasks.
