We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (GoLang) with deep Go expertise to join the Gateways team. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with expectations to own subsystems end-to-end and drive technical direction in your area of ownership.

The Gateways team owns Workato's API management, gateway, and routing infrastructure — the layer that sits between external consumers and the platform's core services. Our scope includes the classic API Management (APIM) product, an AI Gateway for LLM traffic management, and an MCP Gateway for Model Context Protocol integration. We operate at high scale, low latency, and with strict availability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-performance gateway and routing components in Go
• Own technical direction for your area: author design documents, lead architectural reviews, evaluate trade-offs, and drive decisions to conclusion

• 5+ years of iOS development experience, with deep expertise in modern iOS development
• Expert-level SwiftUI skills: You have a strong understanding of SwiftUI architecture patterns, state management, MVVM, dependency injection, and compositional design.
• Swift 6 proficiency: You have a deep knowledge of modern Swift, including async/await.
• Shipped apps: You have a proven track record of shipping high-quality apps to the App Store.
• Networking and APIs: You have a strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON serialization, authentication, and error handling.
• Troubleshooting: You’re comfortable troubleshooting across network and application layers. You know how to diagnose and improve performance issues systematically.

As a Software Engineer II in the Identity Access Management & Integrations Team, you'll have the opportunity to push our product and platform in new directions while also shaping the next iterations of the features our customers already love. You will be one of our first team members in our brand-new Barcelona office. You'll help drive the technical roadmap and implementation of our Internal and External API layers, our 3rd party integration platform and access management systems.

We’re looking for a high-velocity engineer who thrives in dynamic environments—someone who can iterate quickly, build backend applications and deliver measurable customer impact. From high-performing APIs to backend algorithms, integration frameworks, to guaranteeing data privacy with access management rules, you'll hone your skills across multiple domains while helping to drive forward the Affinity product and vision.

Location: Barcelona, Spain

For this role, we're embracing a hub-hybrid model, designed to balance flexibility with meaningful in-person collaboration. Team members are expected in-office 2-days per week. We believe great things happen when people come together intentionally to connect, create, and build momentum as a team.

• You have 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, including familiarity with the different pieces of technology involved in building modern web applications.
• You take pride in delivering high-quality and powerful products to customers while also championing technical excellence.
• You have experience developing backends in Ruby and relational databases.
• You have experience with modern front-end technologies such as React and TypeScript, and enjoy working on the client-side.
• You’ve worked with a variety of web APIs and developed backend services using modern OOP practices.
• You're excited to work collaboratively within engineering and across functional teams.
• You’re eager to contribute your ideas and experiences to help Affinity continuously improve as a product and as a company.

Tech stack

Our systems are built in Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL and Redis on the backend, and Typescript and React in the frontend. Our infrastructure is hosted by AWS and runs on Kubernetes. However, this role is more heavily focused on backend development, but will have some frontend development initiatives.
