About the Role
We are looking for a rockstar product lawyer who has a knack for creative problem solving and a desire to make an impact. You will be a cornerstone member of the Product Legal team and will be joining Verkada’s fast growing Legal team. This role reports into Verkada’s AGC for Product.
The ideal candidate will have experience advising product and hardware engineering teams on legal issues arising throughout the product development lifecycle, especially those relating to regulatory compliance, government procurement requirements, and marketing. You will also have expertise in one or more of the following areas: (1) domestic and international regulatory compliance for connected devices; (2) licensing and regulatory issues related to commercial alarm products and monitoring services, including fire safety systems; and/or (3) federal regulatory requirements for government contractor supply chain and dual use technologies.

What You'll Do
- Be a legal go-to for the product, engineering, supply chain, and marketing teams, advising them on all legal aspects related to Verkada’s product offerings, including their development, marketing, sale, and compliance with applicable laws
- Advise company leadership about legal issues involving Verkada’s product offerings, help design and implement compliance programs, and provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictions
- Simplify and distill complex, evolving legal frameworks into guidance that accelerates—not slows—product delivery
- Uplevel our product launch process and protocols to ensure new product offerings are adequately protected by and compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Serve as a subject matter expert on product-related regulatory issues, including in relevant import/export and government procurement laws (e.g., NDAA/TAA/BAA), and support systematic documentation of our ongoing compliance with those laws
- Develop global internal controls, risk monitoring, and audit frameworks for OFAC, ITAR and emerging AI-related export controls that scale with the business
- Monitor new and emerging developments in applicable worldwide regulations and laws, and identify potential impacts on current and future Verkada product offerings
What You Bring
- J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school or equivalent and a member of at least one state bar association in good standing
- 6+ years of legal experience comprising a combination of regulatory, IP, product counseling, marketing, and general transactional work (preferably with at least 2 years of in house experience)
- Experience advising multinational, complex fast-growing global companies, preferably with respect to both hardware and software product offerings
- Experience developing and implementing compliance programs and policies for hardware and software products, including alarms products
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: (1) Federal procurement requirements for hardware and software (e.g. FedRAMP, FIPs, NDAA); (2) licensing and regulatory compliance for alarm products, including fire alarms; and/or (3) domestic and EU regulatory compliance for connected devices
- Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to provide practical, concise advice
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines

Annual Pay Range
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs)
Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).

What You’ll Do:
Lead Commercial & Distribution Contracting
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including SaaS and AI agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and producer/carrier distribution agreements
- Advise stakeholders on contractual risk, regulatory considerations, and business implications
- Partner with internal teams to align contract structure with business goals
- Independently manage a high volume of commercial and distribution agreements from intake through execution, balancing speed and risk
- Provide clear, concise risk assessments and recommended paths forward to internal stakeholders
- Escalate non-standard or high-risk issues appropriately while proposing practical solutions
Own & Improve Contracting Operations
- Serve as a key point of contact for contracting workflow and process improvements
- Maintain and update templates, playbooks, and standard forms
- Establish and track contracting metrics to improve turnaround time and reduce risk exposure
- Identify recurring friction points in contracting and implement scalable solutions to improve turnaround time and consistency
- Contribute to the development of playbooks, fallback positions, and self-service tools for business partners
Enable Compliant Growth
- Provide guidance on 50-state insurance regulations and federal/state consumer protection laws (e.g., TCPA, FCRA)
- Support marketing reviews with practical, compliant recommendations
- Advise on data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI-related considerations in vendor and technology agreements
Partner Across the Organization
- Collaborate with legal colleagues on regulatory and compliance initiatives
- Support training and cross-functional education
- Translate complex legal concepts into actionable, business-friendly advice

Origis is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to serve as our Director, Talent Engagement. In this high-impact role, you’ll be a trusted advisor, employee advocate, and strategic thought partner to our Managing Director of Talent & Culture and leaders across the organization.
This is an autonomous, individual-contributor role with a true player-coach feel: you’ll help shape people strategy while also supporting day-to-day needs. You bring firsthand experience supporting field-based teams—and you know how to advocate for their needs from an office setting, with thoughtful, intentional time in the field as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on people strategy, organizational design, workforce planning, and talent priorities.
- Translate business goals into practical people plans that strengthen engagement, retention, and team effectiveness.
- Own employee relations for assigned groups, including performance concerns, workplace conflict, disciplinary action, and involuntary separations.
- Lead fair, thorough investigations; maintain clear documentation; identify trends; and partner with legal counsel as needed.
- Coach and equip managers to build strong, consistent people leadership practices.
- Support the full talent lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, succession planning, development planning, and offboarding.
- Partner closely with field operations leaders to support a distributed technician workforce, balancing engagement, scheduling realities, safety culture, and compliance.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices; contribute to improving programs, processes, and tools.
- Stay current on employment law and advise on compliance, accommodations, leave, and compensation-related processes as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant HR Business Partner experience.
- Experience supporting field technician or field services workforces, with an understanding of how to engage and support a distributed population.
- Deep employee relations expertise, including investigations and complex ER case management.
- Proven ability to advise senior leaders with credibility, candor, discretion, and strong business acumen.
- Working knowledge of employment law, particularly in Texas and California.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, battery storage, or related) is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting a workforce in a scaling company (100–500 employees).
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and comfort with people analytics.

Meet The Public Policy Team
Hopefully it is you! We need a driven solo player/coach to build out the Policy function and leverage external vendors in the short term planning to build a team in the long term. You’ll report directly to the General Counsel and work closely with the full leadership team. Manages outside firms and state lobbyists.
The Role: Director of Public Policy
We’re hiring a strategic Director of Public Policy to design and deliver our multi‑state legislative and regulatory agenda. You’ll secure policy wins that expand our serviceable market, improve fairness and transparency in property taxation, and protect homeowners. You are equal parts policy entrepreneur, coalition builder, and execution athlete. Primary mandate: offense (expand TAM) and defense (mitigate adverse bills); secondary: administrative/regulatory wins and data transparency.
Responsibilities:
Set the strategy
- Develop a 2–3 year legislative and regulatory roadmap that expands market access and improves homeowner outcomes across current states and new priority states identified through discovery.
- Prioritize high‑leverage levers: statutes, rules, attorney general opinions, comptroller guidance, appraisal district/ARB procedures, data access, and pilots.
- Define the policy thesis and narrative that resonates with legislators, regulators, and homeowner groups.
Deliver wins
- Draft, sponsor, and shepherd priority bills; craft amendments; manage vote paths and whip counts.
- Drive rulemakings and administrative petitions; file comments; negotiate guidance and MOUs that unlock operational improvements (e.g., standardized evidence exchange, appeal timelines, digital access).
- Coordinate testimony, fact sheets, economic impact briefs, and homeowner stories with Comms/Marketing.
Build coalitions & relationships
- Convene homeowner, taxpayer, REALTOR®, landlord, and consumer advocacy groups; partner with chambers, think tanks, and local leaders to create durable alliances.
- Maintain trusted relationships with legislative offices, state agencies (e.g., Comptrollers, Departments of Revenue), appraisal districts, and ARBs.
- Own and direct external partners: select, brief, and manage state lobbyists and policy consultancies; drive accountability and ROI.
Operate with excellence
- Stand up compliant, multi‑state lobbying operations: registrations, reporting, gift/ethics rules, pay‑to‑play, procurement/contingency‑fee constraints, internal policies and training.
- Build the policy operating system: bill tracker, scorecards, vote maps, coalition CRM, calendar of sessions and rulemakings, and a monthly dashboard.
- Partner with Legal and Exec to manage risk, issue escalation, and scenario planning.
- Advocacy/PAC (as needed): scope and (if warranted) stand up a compliant PAC/issue‑advocacy program to support legislative outcomes.
Requirements:
- 8–15+ years in state‑level public policy/government relations with tangible wins across multiple states.
- Mastery of legislative and administrative process; comfortable drafting, negotiating, and testifying.
- Built/led coalitions that combine grassroots homeowner stories with rigorous policy analysis.
- Operated in lean, high‑velocity environments (e.g. high‑growth company, association, or firm). Startup mindset: scrappy, ethical, persistent.
- Nice‑to‑have: Experience in tax policy, consumer protection, or state/local administrative law; J.D.; prior oversight of PAC or issue advocacy.

- Oversee closings and manage outside counsel.
- Keep up to speed with industry trends and legal and regulatory market changes.
You should have
- 7+ years of experience at a top law firm drafting and negotiating a variety of credit agreements and related documentation, including asset backed facilities. Experience with real estate collateral is a plus. In-house experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to prioritize appropriately, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- JD degree from a top tier law school, admission to the New York or Texas bar in Good Standing.
- Flexible, positive, and team oriented approach to work.
