Join us! The GoFundMe Pro team is searching for a Staff Software Engineer to drive the technical vision and execution of our Integrations platform. You’ll serve as a senior IC on a high-impact team responsible for core integration surfaces including Public APIs, Webhooks, Salesforce integrations (NPC, NPSP), and Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) tools like Workato and Zapier. You’ll lead architecture efforts, mentor engineers, and work closely with cross-functional partners to build robust, scalable integration solutions that connect GoFundMe to the broader ecosystem. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who thrives on solving complex problems, setting architectural direction, and leading by example through hands-on contributions.

The Job

• Define and drive the technical roadmap for our Integrations platform, ensuring it scales with product growth and business complexity.
• Lead the design and implementation of core integration components: Public/Private APIs, webhooks, internal/external system connectivity, and automation workflows.
• Serve as a hands-on expert and role model in software design, system architecture, and best practices.
• Guide the team’s use of AWS services (e.g., Glue, Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions) to power scalable and maintainable integration workflows.
• Evaluate and integrate with third-party platforms like Salesforce (NPC/NPSP, Experience Cloud), Workato, and Zapier.
• Champion the use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to boost engineering quality and efficiency.
• Mentor and support engineers across the team through design reviews, pair programming, incident reviews, and informal technical coaching.

You 

• Strong and varied startup experience.
• Have 10+ years of software engineering experience with a deep focus on backend and systems integration (APIs, GraphQL, Webhooks, TypeScript, AWS, MySQL).
• Have proven expertise in designing and building robust APIs and scalable integration architectures like Microservices and event driven architectures.
• Familiarity with managing infrastructure using Terraform.
• Have strong experience in analyzing, diagnosing, and preventing performance and scale problems, with expertise in application performance monitoring and log analytics tools like NewRelic and BugSnag.
• Are proficient in at least two of the following: Node.js, Python, Java
• Have strong AWS experience, particularly with services relevant to data and integration (e.g., AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, SQS/SNS).
• Bring a product mindset and a pragmatic approach to technical decision-making to the team.
• A strong mentoring orientation and a desire to elevate those around you.

Preferred

• Experience building or maintaining Salesforce integrations and familiarity with nonprofit-specific packages (NPC, NPSP, Experience Cloud)

We're looking for a strong Senior Full-stack PHP Software Engineer to join our team. You'll primarily extend and enhance both the backend services and frontend interfaces that power our funnel and onboarding builder—work that directly impacts how thousands of customers create and manage their checkout experiences.

You'll be working in a mix of modern (object-oriented PHP, Laravel/Symfony, React) and legacy code, shipping features that matter while helping us incrementally modernize the stack. 

You'll work alongside a team of skilled engineers who care about clean code, pragmatism, and shipping reliable, usable systems.

The Team & Codebase

Editor 2.0 team is focused on our funnel and onboarding builder - a visual editor customers use to create their checkout experiences. It's a complex UI with real-time preview, component management, and integrations with the rest of the platform.

About you

Your responsibilities: 

• Design, build and maintain backend APIs and services for critical business domains (payments, reconciliation, fiscal automation, logistics).
• Work on high-concurrency systems focusing on stability, resiliency, and traceability.
• Integrate external services with complex and mission-critical logic.
• Participate actively in architectural decisions to ensure scalability and maintainability.
• Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment workflows.
• Use Docker for local and production environments, and AWS services (SQS, Lambdas, CloudWatch, SNS, S3…) for distributed infrastructure.
• Promote engineering excellence through clean code, testing and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate in an agile, cross-functional squad with backend, infra, QA and product.

Must have skills:

• Robust experience building backend systems, especially using PHP 8+.
• Solid experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs at scale.
• Deep understanding of MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, concurrency and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and delivering software from dev to production.
• Good technical judgment: you know when to iterate fast and when to reinforce stability.
• Experience with testing and code quality tools (PHPUnit, PHPStan, SonarCloud).
• Excellent command of Git and collaborative development.
• Professional proficiency in English.

It would be a plus if you have experience in:

• Experience with AWS infrastructure (SQS, Lambdas, CloudWatch, ECS/EKS).
• Experience with Redis, caching strategies and message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel or Slim.
• Observability tools (Datadog or similar).
• Experience handling services with 1,000+ requests/second.
• Background integrating critical external APIs (payments, financial systems).
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional international teams.
• Curiosity, creativity and a proactive mindset.

The Job

• Analyze, design, and develop software that delivers clean, maintainable code within a large, complex, and established code base.
• Contribute to a microservice based evolution of the technical infrastructure.
• Learn and grow your skills by working collaboratively with experienced and engaged developers to design new features and re-architect existing ones.
• Within an Agile environment, work as part of a Scrum team and develop web-based software solutions.
• Mentor engineers to become proficient developers using best software development practices and processes.

You 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with web development
• Excellent understanding of distributed software architecture with experience debugging distributed systems with high data loads.
• High-level proficiency with React, Javascript ES6, TypeScript, Node.js, HTML/CSS.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, Elasticsearch, Docker, AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda, SNS).
• Ability to understand product requirements and translate them into technical subtasks.
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Comfortable working with agents, agent orchestrators, MCP servers, and many of the newest AI related technologies
• Deep experience with code versioning tools (GIT/Bitbucket).
• A deep sense of quality, and sharp engineering skills with strong computer science fundamentals.
• Experience working with remote and offshore teams

Preferred

• Experience building PCI compliant systems
• Experience with Next.js
• Experience working with a design system
• Experience with eCommerce platforms
• Experience with PHP and Laravel
• Proficient in schema design in relational or NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB).
