Summary
The VIP Interior Mechanic I works under close supervision to assist with the removal, installation, and fabrication of VIP aircraft interior components. This entry‑level position supports experienced mechanics by following technical instructions, maintaining safety standards, and delivering high‑quality craftsmanship for VIP aircraft interiors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with removal, installation, fabrication, and refurbishment of aircraft interior components including panels, galleys, cabinetry, flooring, seats, monuments, sidewalls and decorative finishes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and work orders to perform assigned tasks.
- Prepare interior surfaces for installation or finish, including trimming, drilling, fitting, sanding, and adjusting panels to ensure proper alignment and fit.
- Use hand tools and pneumatic equipment to assemble and install parts, hardware, and fasteners per specifications.
- Inspect incoming interior components and report discrepancies or damage.
- Maintain documentation by accurately completing work records, logs and required reading.
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership, providing progress updates and identifying issues.
- Follow all safety and quality procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general shop upkeep.
- Support on‑the‑job training, cross‑training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification
High school education or equivalent. Two to Four years recent applicable installation, fabrication, or related experience on VIP aircraft interiors. Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering documents required.
US Citizen Required - this position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (read, write, and verbally communicate).
- Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply toward problem solving.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn company‑specific software.
- Ability to work under general supervision and provide guidance to less‑experienced mechanics.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools and measuring instrument.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, equipment manuals and work orders.
- Knowledge of VIP aircraft interior installation and fabrication processes, including removal and installation of galleys, cabinets, bulkheads, sidewalls, and decorative components.
- Familiarity with composite materials such as wood, honeycomb, fiberglass, sheet metal and veneers.
- Ability to work overtime, varied shifts and travel as required.
- Ability to work in a team environment, follow established procedures and maintain professionalism.
Physical Requirements.
- Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
- Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Able to reach overhead.
- Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.
- Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
- Full range of motion with both hands.
- Ability to work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.
The expected WA salary range for this position is between $61,000.00 - $85,000.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
