About this Trade Growth Lead (Maternity Cover) role at Checkatrade
As our next Trade Growth Lead (Maternity Cover), you’ll own the growth journey from first touch through to first monetisation. Sitting within our Trade Experience product team, you’ll work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, Performance Marketing, CRM, and Commercial teams to help shape the future of how trades join and grow with Checkatrade. This is a high-impact role at the centre of one of the company’s most important strategic growth bets.
Forget long lists, here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:
Own the Trade Growth Funnel — driving the full journey from sign-up to monetisation, increasing both volume and quality of self-serve trade sign-ups, and owning the metrics that matter.
Lead a high-tempo experimentation programme — running structured A/B, multivariate, and holdout tests across acquisition journeys, onboarding flows, freemium activation surfaces, and in-product conversion experiences.
Bring marketing instinct into product — translating positioning and messaging into product experiences, improving landing pages, sign-up flows, nudges, and lifecycle touchpoints, and working hand-in-hand with Performance Marketing and CRM to optimise end-to-end conversion.
Be the analytical centre of gravity — owning and evolving the funnel model that tracks every stage from impression to first paid action, so the team always knows where to focus next.
Work in an AI-native way — using tools like Claude Code and Claude Cowork to build lightweight tooling, accelerate experimentation, automate recurring workflows and analysis, and sharpen how the whole PLG function operates.
Influence across the business — representing the PLG stream in planning and growth reviews, aligning in-product and off-product growth motions, and helping shape the future direction of trade acquisition at Checkatrade.
It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:
Experience in Growth, Product, Operations, or Growth Marketing — with a track record of owning funnels, growth metrics, or revenue-impacting initiatives and making them move.
Strong analytical capability — comfortable with SQL (or equivalent), experiment design, statistical significance, and funnel modelling, and able to turn data into clear decisions.
A structured approach to experimentation — you’ve designed and run A/B tests, multivariate tests, or holdouts and know how to draw the right conclusions from them.
Hands-on experience with AI tools in your day-to-day work — you can walk through concrete examples of using Claude Code to build tooling or run analysis, and Claude Cowork to automate recurring workflows and the gains they delivered.
