About this Superintendent, Mechanical & Process Systems role at Fluidstack
About Fluidstack
We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
How We Operate
Extreme ownership. Full autonomy. Own things end to end often taking on scope outside your core role without being asked to get things done.
Velocity. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
First principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
The Construction Team
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Put gigawatts in the ground, faster than anyone has. We're delivering one of the largest data center buildouts of its kind, with many sites running at once. Traditional construction management breaks at this scale, so we're building the model that replaces it.
Throw out traditional construction and invent how gigawatts get built. Tons of tools, layers of process, and administrative drag don't get you there. You'll strip all of that out and win by solving the real problem and beating the goal, not by managing toward it.
Productize the data center so we can build it a thousand times. You'll turn one-off construction into a repeatable, modular build, where the hundredth site goes up faster and cleaner than the first. That repeatability is the only way to reach the scale we're targeting.
Role Scope
Own daily site execution of large bore mechanical and process piping installation, from groundbreaking through cooling and process system commissioning.
Coordinate mechanical and process trades, subcontractors, GC relationships, and union representatives across simultaneous cooling and process system installs.
Lead mechanical system commissioning, verifying cooling and process systems perform to spec before handoff to operations.
Read and interpret complex mechanical, process, and piping drawings, specs, and RFIs, and resolve field issues fast.
Manage on-site logistics for large bore pipe, mechanical equipment, and long lead process materials.
What We're Looking For
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
You've led on-site installation of large bore industrial or process piping systems on large-scale mechanical builds.
You've overseen mechanical system commissioning, verifying cooling or process systems perform to spec before turnover.
You've managed multiple mechanical subcontractors, GC relationships, and union representatives at once on complex builds.
You know building codes, safety regulations, and compliance standards for mechanical and process work (OSHA, ASME B31.3, NFPA).
You read complex mechanical, process, and piping drawings, specs, and RFIs fluently.
You manage schedules, logistics, and on-site materials and equipment for mechanical and process scopes.
Bonus: Hyperscale data center or heavy industrial cooling system experience (50MW+, $100M+ budgets). Liquid cooling or high density process system builds. Commissioning oversight on mission-critical mechanical systems. Large bore pipe fabrication or welding oversight.
Salary & Benefits
