About this Staff RF Engineer role at Whoop
At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.
As a Staff RF Engineer on the WHOOP Hardware team, you will lead the architecture, integration, and delivery of the wireless systems that power WHOOP's wearable products. Working closely with Electrical, Firmware, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Product teams, you will translate system-level requirements into robust, production-ready RF solutions.
WHOOP products rely on highly integrated wireless systems that demand exceptional RF performance, antenna efficiency, coexistence, power efficiency, and manufacturability within an ultra-compact wearable form factor. You will provide technical leadership across RF architecture, validation, certification, and production while helping shape the future of wireless technologies at WHOOP.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead RF system validation, characterization, and debugging using industry-standard lab instrumentation.
Drive RF circuit design, electromagnetic simulation, and system analysis to inform architecture, performance, and design decisions.
Partner cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, product, and operations teams to define, integrate, and deliver robust RF systems.
Define RF hardware requirements, validation strategies, and production test methodologies to ensure robust wireless performance from development through manufacturing.
Own RF certification efforts and ensure compliance with global wireless regulatory standards, including FCC Part 15, CISPR 11, EN 55035, and the Radio Equipment Directive (RED).
Establish RF design standards and provide technical guidance for antenna integration, PCB layout, RF routing, grounding, shielding, matching networks, and desense mitigation.
Advance research and development of next-generation RF architectures, antenna technologies, manufacturing techniques, and system-level solutions that enable different form factors and feature expansion.
Mentor engineers and establish RF engineering best practices across design, validation, and debugging while effectively communicating technical risks and recommendations to engineering and leadership stakeholders.
Travel up to 15%, domestically and internationally.
