As a Staff Connectivity Infrastructure Engineer, you will drive and support the Physical Infrastructure Cabling Standards (PICS) across all of Lambda’s global data centers. Reporting directly to the Principal of Data Center Architecture and Standards, you will focus on developing and implementing connectivity components and infrastructure solutions that support our demanding GPU Cluster deployments, while accelerating deployment timelines, simplifying operations and reducing costs - all while meeting stringent performance expectations. You will also lead New Product Implementation (NPI) efforts for PICS and be responsible for documenting all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for solutions deployed within our data center infrastructure, including colocation white-space fit-outs, equipment installations, and upgrade initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Documentation & Standards Management
Develop and maintain all PICS (Physical Infrastructure Cabling Standards) documentation, including Basis of Design (BoD) specifications, component-level details, and operational and installation SOP/MOP’s.
Ensure adherence to PICS Standards enabling optimal connectivity performance, scalability, flexibility and continuity within our entire global DC Infrastructure fleet.
Develop and publish dashboards that broadcast our business operations, key Metrics & KPI’s, Project status and issues that impact our area can be resolved quickly and effectively.
Cross-Functional Team & Vendor Management Support
Serve as the primary PICS subject-matter expert for Internal Teams — providing guidance and support to our HPC Architecture, Hardware & Network Engineering, PMO, Supply Chain and Data Center Operations Teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Manufacturers and Suppliers to help ensure supply chain continuity, cost effectiveness and quality assurance.
Review and develop the detailed BOM’s with Suppliers to ensure our components are built to PICS Standards and they meet our exact connectivity specification requirements.
Innovation, NPI & Industry Alignment
Stay current with industry trends, emerging cabling technologies, and new data center infrastructure solutions.
Encourage the adoption of new technologies and keen practices that can improve upon PICS and keep us at the forefront of industry trends.
Drive the development, qualification, and implementation of new connectivity products and standards into production (NPI).
Project & Deployment Support
Participate in design reviews and page-turn sessions, providing technical guidance for cabling infrastructure specifications in new data center builds.
Assist in deploying connectivity components and PICS standards across global data center projects.
Conduct regular site visits to assess construction progress, document findings, and resolve PICS-related issues.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure consistent quality of installations and infrastructure by performing QC/QA to PICS best practices across global deployments.
Track costs, time to install, capacity utilization and connectivity performance to identify methods to optimize efficiency and effectiveness and reduce costs.
Contribute to process-improvement initiatives and participate in team knowledge-sharing to advance operating efficiency and alignment with industry best practices.
