A Sr. Professional Engineer β Water/Wastewater job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department Plant Operations. The incumbent will champion operational excellence by leading key processβimprovement and design initiatives, while also overseeing capital improvement projects from concept to completion. This role spans a diverse portfolio of critical infrastructure, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump and lift stations, meter stations, and both elevated and ground storage tank projectsβdriving upgrades that enhance reliability, efficiency, and longβterm system performance.

This Position qualifies the following incentives which are separate from the base pay:
Sign-On Incentive of: $8,700 ***50% paid after the completion of the first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment. ***
Example projects for the position include:
Water Treatment Plant Improvements:
- Develop filter optimization plans including media surveillance, backwash optimization, and filter performance optimization and work with plant staff on implementation.
- Manage design of high-service pump stations, treatment capacity and clearwell expansions.
Water Reclamation Facility Improvements:
- Review headworks and preliminary treatment hydraulics and recommend improvements for treatment optimization.
- Construction management of the Maryβs Creek Water Reclamation Facility, a new greenfield membrane bioreactor plant with biological phosphorus and nitrogen removal.
- Commissioning and startup and subsequent process modeling to sustain operations for the new Maryβs Creek Water Reclamation Facility.
Distribution/Collection System:
- Manage design and construction of lift stations that will supply the Maryβs Creek Water Reclamation facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
- Three (3) years of professional experience as a registered professional engineer, of which two (2) years must be within or related to the area of assigned responsibility
- Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment
- Valid Driverβs license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six (6) yearsβ experience in either development, design, or operation of water or wastewater systems
- Experience as a supervisor or manager with direct reports
- Hydraulic and treatment process modeling experience
- GIS, asset management, and computerized drafting package experience
- SCADA and computerized maintenance management system experience
The Sr. Professional Engineer β Water/Wastewater job responsibilities include:Β
- Development of technical specifications and contract development to support Plant Operations
- Review of treatment processes for improvement and optimization.
- Coordinate and lead capital delivery projects during initial design through final construction
- Drives project momentum through proactive stakeholder engagement and expert navigation of municipal and federal compliance standards.
- Analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the quality and responsiveness of the development review process, identifying bottlenecks and implementing data-backed improvements.
