About this Sr. Principal Electrical Design Engineer role at Coastal Wave Recruiting
A pioneering industrial technology company is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and execution of electrical systems supporting a first-of-its-kind advanced manufacturing facility.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you will drive electrical design strategy, support plant build-out, and influence long-term system reliability and scalability. Ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced, start-up environment and wants to build something from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for a large-scale industrial facility
- Own power distribution systems (low and medium voltage) including system architecture and integration
- Develop and review single-line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams
- Partner cross-functionally with process, mechanical, controls, and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable safety standards
- Support equipment specification, vendor selection, and FAT/SAT activities
- Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, and safety
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10–15+ years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or chemical processing environments
- Strong expertise in electrical power systems and distribution
- Experience with industrial controls systems, including PLCs and HMIs
- Experience with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar
- Experience leading complex, large-scale electrical design projects
- Deep knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable industry standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience supporting greenfield plant builds or facility scale-ups
- Background in energy, chemical, or electrochemical processes
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications, including Class I, Div 1/2
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
