About this Sportico: Europe Reporter role at Penske Media Corp.
Sportico is seeking an ambitious, well-sourced Europe Correspondent to own coverage of the rapidly evolving European sports business landscape. This journalist will break news, develop enterprise reporting, and produce sophisticated analysis across the continent's most influential leagues, clubs, governing bodies, investors, media companies, and executives.
The successful candidate understands that every major sporting event has a business story—and often several. They will cover everything from billion-dollar media rights negotiations and private equity investments to sports diplomacy, athlete entrepreneurship, sponsorship innovation, and regulatory developments.
This role requires a reporter equally comfortable interviewing CEOs, club owners, investment bankers, sports lawyers, athletes, agents, and government officials.
Responsibilities
- Break exclusive news across the European sports business ecosystem.
- Cover the business of global events including F1, NBA Europe, Premier League, Wimbledon, the UEFA Champions, Six Nations Rugby, the Ryder Cup, and the Olympic movement.
- Produce insightful analysis explaining why developments matter to investors, executives, lawyers, sponsors and fans.
- Collaborate with Sportico reporters in North America on global stories.
- Appear on podcasts, video programming, conference panels, television, and live events as a subject matter expert.
- Travel extensively throughout Europe for major sporting events and breaking news.

Qualifications
- At least 5+ years of reporting experience covering sports business, finance, media, or corporate news.
- Demonstrated ability to break exclusive news.
- Strong understanding of European sports economics and governance.
- Experience covering publicly traded companies, private equity, venture capital, or institutional investment is highly desirable.
- Excellent writing, interviewing, and source development skills.
- Ability to interpret financial statements, legal filings, sponsorship agreements, and regulatory documents. .
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in one or more European languages is a significant advantage.
