Fully REMOTE Special Education Teacher & Case Manager
Full-Time | South Dakota Certified | 2026-2027 School Year
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Special Education Teacher/Case Manager to join our team in a fully remote capacity for the upcoming school year.
This position will primarily focus on special education case management responsibilities, including ensuring compliance with IDEA requirements, coordinating services, facilitating meetings, and maintaining communication with families and school staff. While the majority of the role is expected to center around case management, direct instruction and teaching responsibilities will also be included as needed.
Please note that responsibilities may shift based on district needs between now and the start of the school year in late August. Candidates should be comfortable with flexibility and supporting students and staff in multiple capacities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee special education caseloads in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings and annual reviews.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance records.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned students and families.
- Provide direct instruction and/or specially designed instruction as assigned.
- Support the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and individualized educational programming.
- Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development, and team collaboration activities.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Active South Dakota Special Education Teacher Certification (REQUIRED).
- Certification must be active and in good standing prior to the start of employment.
- Minimum of one year of experience in special education case management and/or instruction preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA regulations, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with school teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience providing virtual instruction or services.
- Experience managing a large or diverse special education caseload.
- Familiarity with online IEP management systems and virtual learning platforms.
