What you’ll do

You'll collaborate with stakeholders to translate greenfield ideas and concepts into functional applications with the support and infrastructure of our wider Engineering organisation, you'll have full responsibility over designing, building and maintaining these applications.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building polished user experiences, writing clean and maintainable code, and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.

To make this happen you will

• Design, build, and maintain features end to end across the backend and the frontend.
• Build and maintain REST endpoints in the .NET 8 API (controllers, services, repositories, EF Core migrations) and the matching React UI through the BFF layer that sits in front of the microservice.
• Work across the whole stack: data model and persistence, service and business logic, API contracts, and the user-facing screens that consume them.
• Extend the data import and processing pipelines that bring external content into the platform.
• Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability, and help pay down technical debt as you go.
• Write unit tests (xUnit, Moq, FluentAssertions) and integration tests against a real PostgreSQL instance via WebApplicationFactory. 
• Diagnose issues across the stack using Datadog traces, PostgreSQL queries, and S3 inspection. 

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack web development. 

• Expertise in React and Next.js, building and scaling production web applications. 

• Solid C# and .NET (8 preferred, but 6/7 experience is fine if you can ramp up). 

• Hands-on AWS experience (S3, SQS, Lambda, ECS, IAM, SSM) 

• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines 

• Strong understanding of API design, backend architecture, and distributed system principles. 
• Experience working with Word and Open XML documents: manipulating content controls and merge fields, and converting between document formats.

• Experience with database systems, data modelling as well as at least one backend language or platform, EF Core: writing migrations, fluent configuration, debugging query plans  
• Comfortable building background and queue-based processing (workers, just-in-time jobs) and streaming APIs such as NDJSON.
• Experience integrating with third-party REST APIs and handling large binary assets in object storage.
• Performance tuning instincts: profiling, optimising queries, removing N+1s, and batching data access.
• A knack for building diff, comparison, and review or merge interfaces.
