The Position:
Jane Lu aka The Lazy CEO is entering a new stage of growth, and a new, dedicated YouTube channel is where that growth lives. We're looking for a senior specialist to build this channel from the ground up: vlogs and business educational content that people actually watch to the end.
This is a hands-on filming and editing role, and it's creative, analytical, and strategic all at once. You know how to build a video around a hook and a payoff, how to keep people watching through the middle, and how to package a video, title, thumbnail, and opening line, so it earns the click it deserves. You back that creative instinct with data, watching how videos actually perform and using it to shape where the channel goes next, not just how the next video is cut.
Day to day you will be responsible for:
Plan, shoot, and edit standalone YouTube content for Jane's personal brand: vlogs, business educational content, and behind-the-scenes footage.
Structure every video around a strong hook and a payoff, using pacing to hold attention through the middle.
Own the channel's content strategy: what we make, in what order, and why, based on what's working and where the gaps are.
Keep an eye on how videos are performing and use the data, not just instinct, to decide what we make next and how we edit it.
Manage the content calendar and publishing schedule for the channel.
Review all video content for quality, pacing, and brand alignment before it's published.
Write video descriptions and handle end-to-end distribution for the channel.
Who are we looking for?
A portfolio that shows channels you've built from the ground up, with a clear sense of how they performed and what you'd do differently.
Comfortable being creative, analytical, and strategic: you can pitch a story idea, back it up with a read on what the data says is working, and set the direction for what comes next.
Experience shaping a content or channel strategy, not just executing a content calendar: setting direction, spotting gaps, and adjusting the plan as data comes in.
5+ years' experience in content creation, ideally with senior YouTube strategy experience.
A solid understanding of what keeps people watching on YouTube: pacing, structure, packaging, and testing what works.
Hands-on experience with multi-camera, lighting, and audio setups, and a solid grasp of contemporary cameras, file formats, and codecs.
Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator) or equivalent (DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut), with strong sound design, mixing, and colour correction skills.
