About this Senior User Experience Researcher | The Points Guy role at Red Ventures
For over 15 years, The Points Guy (TPG) has helped millions of travelers turn everyday spending into extraordinary experiences. Our readers are loyalty enthusiasts who have learned to stretch every dollar further, unlocking trips, upgrades and experiences they never thought were within reach.
TPG is entering an exciting new chapter, evolving our brand and product experience to better serve our users and drive meaningful growth. Understanding the TPG user and successfully delivering on what they value sits at the heart of TPG's success.
As part of this evolution, we’re building our first in-house UX Research team and looking to hire a Senior UX Researcher. This role is designed for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, knows how to bring structure to ambiguity, and excels at turning insights into strategic recommendations. As an early member of the team, you will help establish strong research execution standards, set a high bar for research quality, and represent the voice of the user to the broader TPG team.
You will report to the Director of UX Research and partner closely with them on shaping and scaling the research practice as it grows.

What You’ll Do:
Own end-to-end research initiatives
- Translate research objectives into structured project plans with a clearly outlined approach, timelines and deliverables.
- Proactively identify opportunities where research would bring clarity to ambiguity.
- Kick off studies, manage timelines, communicate proactively with stakeholders, and make sure insights don't gather dust in a deck.
Translate insights into impact
- Synthesize raw data into structured, insights-led narratives that clearly articulate implications and recommended actions for Product and Design.
- Tailor stakeholder conversations to the right audience and know how to move a room from insights to decision.
- Collaborate with Data/Analytics to connect qualitative findings with quantitative signals.
Operational excellence
- Manage multiple research initiatives simultaneously across product squads.
- Prioritize competing research needs across fast-paced, simultaneous workstreams.
- Own and evolve the research repository, setting documentation standards for the function.
- Provide feedback and informal mentorship to newer researchers as the team grows.
Collaborate cross-functionally
- Build strong, solutions-oriented relationships across Product, Design, Content, Partnerships and Data.
- Embed within product squads to scope research, align on decision criteria and participate in key rituals (planning, reviews, discovery sessions).
- Help establish the norms, standards, and culture of a research practice that's still taking shape.
What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years in UX research, consumer insights, or a related field
- Proven track record of independently leading mixed-methods research, including survey design, moderated and unmoderated interviews, usability testing, diary studies, and more.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize findings into strategic recommendations with clearly defined implications, not just summaries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable producing first-draft deliverables with minimal oversight.
- Experience working directly with product and design teams in an agile work environment
- Strong project and stakeholder management skills across multiple simultaneous initiatives
- Comfort with data and analytics, including reading dashboards and incorporating quantitative metrics into research
Who You Are:
- Resourceful and solution-oriented: you roll up your sleeves, experiment with new tools when it makes sense, and find creative paths through hard problems
- Comfortable with ambiguity: you are able to bring structure to undefined problems without waiting for perfect conditions
- A natural collaborator: you genuinely enjoy building relationships across teams, not just working alongside them.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in loyalty, travel, or credit cards
- Experience in early-stage or evolving research functions.
- Experience working on 0 to 1 product development.
- Familiarity with modern research platforms and tooling (e.g. UserTesting, SurveyMonkey, Dscout, etc.)
- Familiarity with SQL or similar tools for pulling and exploring data independently.
Compensation:
This range reflects total cash compensation, which may include base salary only or base salary plus target bonus, depending on the role. Where eligible, equity may also be offered separately and not included below. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.
- Total Cash Compensation Range: $100,000 - $145,000 per year
